Happy 10th Anniversary to "Batman Beyond!"

Has it really been 10 years already? Wow. It doesn't feel like it.

I never saw it air in prime time. I remember it was my senior year of high school. And I wasn't sure if it was ok for some of my favorite shows to be shows like The New Batman/Superman Adventures and Beast Wars. But after watching the first episode of Batman Beyond, I absolutely loved it. I really felt like I related to Terry. Not with the whole losing a parent thing, but personality wise and where he fit in socially at his high school.

Thanks for the write-up. But when did Batman Beyond show up in the DC mainstream continuity besides the brief cameo in Batman/Superman?

In the Countdown series, which showed that Batman Beyond was being treated as an alternate universe in the DC Universe.

I believe there's also been talks of a miniseries for some time now and that Dustin Nguyen was interested.

EDIT: It's not in the works however:

Wow! Ten years!:ack:

I remember reading about it a few years ago, thinking it was an interesting gimmick, but nothing more.

Then I saw the series. Wow. Amazing isn't even the word. BB created a whole new world, one that is overflowing with both good storylines that have been done and those that are waiting to be done.

Were mistakes made along the way? Yes, but they are more than compensated for by the innovation of the series and its enormous potential.

Happy 10th Anniversary, BB! Happy Anniversary, Terry and Bruce! :D

Bruce: Don't Remind Me! :p]

They should try a mini-series or figuring out a way to work in the alternate BB timeline into stories if they really want to have the multi-verse. It creates a bunch of interesting possibilities.

The Future

I remember first hearing about this show. I was 7 years old and my friends told me that there is a new cartoon about Batman in which some kid steals Batman's costume. That sounded interesting to me so I watched Rebirth both parts as Batman Beyond: The Movie and it was awesome, the future, the new futuristic Batman, everything. Thanks to Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, Glen Murakami and all people who helped with creation of this show. :) :) ;)

It's official... I'm old, lol. I saw the prime time debut and was blown away. My favorite eps are many, but I'll always be thankful for "The Call". It showed the powers-that-be at WB that it was possible to do a JL series. BB was one of the best shows on TV, animated or otherwise. Happy Anniversary, Terry.

Batman Beyond is one of my favorite shows, its hard to believe that its been 10yrs since it came out, because it doesn't feel like it at all.

I was in 5th grade at the time when it first came out, I remember seeing the commercials for it, and remember hearing Bruce say the words "Never again".
It was so epic, I loved the idea of futuristic Batman and it was only natural to have someone else dawn the mask.

I haven't watched the DVDs in awhile though, so I may have to do that now.

I'd love to see somebody elses take on Batman Beyond in the future, and I hope it happens.

When I first heard the loose premise (elderly Bruce Wayne training new teenage Batman), it sounded like an awful idea. But this show is incredible, containing a good chunk of my all-time favorite episodes of any DCAU show, period. And that's a testament to the brilliance of Timm & co. I wish it had run for longer, I wish there were more toys. I wish they had gotten to make the second DTV movie involving Catwoman (that was later adapted to the JLU episode "Epilogue"). And I hope one day soon, they get to make it into a huge live action movie. I think there will come a day when DC Elseworlds properties can co-exist at the box office with mainstream superhero franchises, and Batman Beyond is pretty much on the top of my wish list. Seriously, b.t.-- do more things.

Mad love for this show.

I have to agree with the general feedback -I thought it was a gimmicky ideas that wuld fizzle out after a while- but 10 years says it all! A great concept and never boring!

I remember a lot of people trashed the series at first and didn't want to like it. Why? I think what fans really wanted was a Justice League series instead of some kid Batman show. People trashed the costume and the Terry character.

When the show first came on people were even calling it racist. People shut up pretty quickly after the pilot though. Leave it to Dini and Timm to make a really fantastic story and series.

What I like most about the show is the idea of Batman continuing his legacy. The next generation is finally stepping up to protect Gotham.

I'm glad they did Epilogue which was an effective conclusion and series finale that we never really got in the show's original run.

I think you mean "Epilogue". And why on earth were people calling this show racist?

I think because there was a Jokerz that was black so the show was perpetuating racism against blacks.
