International Nickelodeon Thread Part 16

this may not be the best place to ask this but i'll do it anyways because im incredibly silly like that
@xekcbtw in the previous thread you said that paramount continued ordering finnish nickelodeon dubs even after nickelodeon scandinavia shut down over there International Nickelodeon Thread Part 15
do you know if the shortlived monsters vs aliens nickelodeon show had a finnish dub ordered? im only asking as that show came out in 2013, the same year as nickelodeon scandinavia shut down in finland

if they did, then thats two dubs of that show which were never released but were produced, as abs-cbn in the philippines did have the rights to air the show, but they never aired it, if they did, then a tagalog dub wouldve aired

even if a finnish dub was never ordered, the first eight episodes did receive official subtitles in european copies of the monsters vs aliens: cloning around dvd, which was released in most western european countries, excluding iberia and scandinavia (although it does has eu-sp, danish and swedish audio, and norwegian (even though a dub does exist) and finnish subs), australia and south africa, and even if a dub was never ordered, i wonder if one would be ordered if the show ever gets added to skyshowtime, alongside most central and eastern european languages considering nickelodeon cee never aired the show and only aired on local channels in czechia and bulgaria (and if skyshowtime ever adds the show i assume they would order an actual bulgarian dub considering that the show only aired on btv/btv action with a voiceover (presumably ordered by btv themselves) produced by studio vms)
I don't think MVA has a Finnish dub. Paramount commissioned Finnish dubbing for higher-priority projects (SB, Harvey, Sanjay, etc.).

Paramount could add it to SkyShowTime. They probably have officially produced dubs in their archives (even for non-Nickelodeon versions), which would leave only a few languages to dub. (And they would, because Paramount ordered a Kazakh dub of "The Adventures of Kid Danger" for NickToons. Which airs very rarely.)

Actually it was dubbed because Finnish local kids channel MTV Junior was airing it. Although it's lost for now but Paramount still can add it to the service if they wanted.

Not a Nickelodeon original but the only show currently airing on MTV Junior that is somewhat a Nick show is that annoying Alvin CGI show. The variety used to be there in the mid 10s. They mostly air French animated shows now.

I never watched the MVA show because we changed ZON decoders in late October 2013 and lost access to all high tier channels for a year.

Nickelodeon only became a basic cable channel on September 1, 2014, precisely on NOS.

Over here before it became Nick Jr, it was on Telia's kids package and Mix package where you can change a certain amount of channels each month. Now it's on a more premium package as it's on a film package even though it's not a movie channel like in the U.S. I would love to watch Nick but I'm not paying an extra 14 euros for one channel. I'm good with my kids and sports packages.

Apparently NickToons has also been launched for the first time in Finland! Don't know when but it's on the channel list now.

So is Nicktoons a Swedish-/English-only channel too in Finland? There exists a Finnish-language schedule on epg.vimn.com.

According to a friend of mine it's indeed only in English and Swedish. I wouldn't trust a website when someone might not have knowledge and probably hasn't checked. People I know are more trustworthy.

Same as CN, also the Finnish market doesn't have the money to dub every key IP or something

Meanwhile Disney Channel airs most content as dubs but I guess Disney is helping to pay the bills because they are one of the only companies that see value in the Finnish market even if the population isn't high for 1300 km country. And we gotta thank it's streaming in the first place. When a local general channel wants to air a show from NickToons that isn't already dubbed, they are ordering the dubs.

huh, any evidence of this? never heard of it airing on finnish tv prior to this message

Yeah, Nick and CN don't see potential in the Finnish market

I have a memory watching the show. I don't find any old schedules.

Could've been the movie, which does have a Finnish dub. The series definitely does not. That being said, there is a Standard Mandarin dub and Latvian voiceover which are undocumented.

I don't remember which one it was because the show and movie are similar but it was defintely something from Monsters vs. Aliens. I don't know if they spammed the movie but I assumed that it was a show because it was airing every week. And usually movies don't really spam a lot. So that's literally what I got so you don't have to believe that but airing a movie every week is less likely than airing a show. Of course you can show me proof if the show didn't air at all.

That's what I thought. It was very likely a show because there's no way a movie was going to air every single week.

That makes it the only DreamWorks-based series I never got to see

I remember The Penguins of Madagascar. Kung-Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness was a little boring to me

I think this also applies to other dubs that did cover the movie, but not the show like Japanese.

Has Nickelodeon become another Cartoon Network cause the schedule has a lot of SpongeBob, Loud House and Wylde Pak

Doesn't Paramount already have a second channel in many markets called Nicktoons that's basically their answer to Cartoon Network and heavy on animated series?

The main Nickelodeon channel, even though it has a lot of animated shows, actually does air live-action shows, which is not something you're ever gonna see on Cartoon Network.

New age ratings on Nicktoons and Nick Jr. Global:

@TVArchive Does "Nicktoons Russia" still exist as a separate playout? If so, have they updated their age icons to use those?

It'd also be interesting to see whether "Nicktoons Commercial" has those or not, as well as other channels

To celebrate the fact that I got three weeks off from work for rest, I watched today the latest installment in the separate Minions series of movies. What I loved was the unique logo variation of the Universal logo, which was akin to the plot taking place in the late 1800s

Nicktoons in the US has recently aired something that no one expected: an AI generated ad for an overpriced plush toy.
Not everything from DC and Marvel comics needs to be more like the adaptations.
Woah yeah today is my Birthday!
