MeTV Toons would have to pay the residuals and royalties to the people who worked on the cartoons, not Warner. The Max cartoon purge was all about residuals.
At least that was actually good news for MeTV because unlike Warner, they do care about the creators and wanted to show the best catalog and give them fair pay.
I do have to mention that is the most open Warner has been to letting someone else purchase rights to run their stuff. The Phone Company and the Spinning Globe Company as owners have been much better at that than the previous Time Warner. ABC lost rights in 2000, and TW locked things onto CN and Boomerang that whole time. Kids WB did have new Scooby Doo and etc, but they weren't airing the classic stuff that late either. Under the Phone Company they let METV buy the rights two run two Hanna-Barbera shows that never happened before, the allowed Toon in with Me to happen with more stuff. Under Discovery, they let Tubi buy rights to stuff and METV have more stuff, and now a letting Weigel launch a channel with that stuff.
Channel hasn't even launched, there's not one reason to be dooming at all, yet. Enjoy the channel when it comes out, it can run 5 months, 5 years, 5 decades, however long, just enjoy it.
Exactly. Just enjoy it for what it is, and not what isn't.
Just have a little optimism and faith about what's happening at MeTV Toons. It's really not that bad of a situation. Try to imagine the best-case scenario and don't hope for the worst.
Be optimistic about something for once in your life! Too many people are defeatist even before something happens and miss out on good things and their blessings. Instead of anticipating disappointment and doom as inevitabilities, look forward to good things and support the folks who are trying to make something great happen.
Trust me, I can be very cynical and pessimistic when it comes to corporate politics and other BS, but I'm a optimistic dude. I am very much looking forward to MeTV Toons. It's my most anticipated thing that ever happened this year.
Y'all can have an opinion that you want, but I find it so annoying and frustrating that people crapped
on MeTV Toons before even comes out. I get it, PBJ was a major failure, and WBD's wacky shenanigans really soured a lot of people, myself included. However, if you put all of that aside, this is a major W for all animation fans. We are lucky to even have this.
Personally, this is something that I've been waiting for over a decade. Ever since The Hub went away and Boomerang focusing more on originals in 2014, I don't think there is any other network really cared about their classic library anymore, especially Cartoon Network since they are too far gone by being a network for kids, and even then the target demographic don't even care about the stuff they put out because they love watching stuff on YouTube anyway.
Weigel Broadcasting is the only one company that treat animation as a medium, which is a major rarity now, especially during the the time when the animation industry is going through major shambles.
So, I don't understand why people were doomsaying about MeTV Toons and think it's going to fail, even though it's not even out yet. Do you guys want MeTV Toons? Or would you rather have nothing at all? If you prefer to have nothing, and complain just for the sake of complaining, then you really shouldn't be here because all you doing is just being a buzzkill for everyone.
All I can say is that let's just hope for the best and be very grateful that MeTV is giving something what we want. That's all.
