Technically yes, but since Netflix was only a distribution partner (considering that The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants is leaving the service), it's not exactly an original.

Alright. Wouldn't be the first time a Netflix original airs on broadcast TV (Inspector Gadget 2015 on Universal Kids, The Magic School Bus Rides Again on Qubo, the Danger Mouse reboot on CBBC, etc.)

Tinseltown Toons being the closest thing there is to the first, except that it's just a playlist of award-winning toons, not toons selected by viewers.

Tinseltown Toons being the closest thing there is to the first, except that it's just a playlist of award-winning toons, not toons selected by viewers.

MeTV Toons really should do a block or event where viewers can select the cartoons they want to air. I always loved when TV channels had interactive elements like this.

Kinda impossible nowadays in today's climate, but one can dream.

The thing is, there was no avoiding it. There were only 13 Super Mario World shorts, with even less Captain N shorts. Because of this, the combined show has a total of 10 half hours, so it was going to air this way one way or the other.

Wildbrain treats it as a separate show.

we don't really know. Weigel AI upscale all tape shows in promos (TMNT was upscaled in promos but not on actual airings for example). Wildbrain (current owner of DIC catalog) do have a page where they list official AI upscales they provide as an option. Mario 3 and World are on that list but not Super Show. However, just because these AI upscales are available doesn't mean MeTV specifically got them. We'll just have to see when all the episodes air.


Additional note: the AI upscaled prints for Mario 3 provided by Wildbrain are also stretched into widescreen. This does not apply to the ones for World though.

From what I can see, it's an option. They could still release it as part of "...Super Show" with the original live action segments included if they really wanted to. It's just that that won't be happening on Me TV Toons. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm assuming that the segments for the Zelda episodes are still intact; all 12 originals, plus the "Tutti Frutti, Oh Mario" rerun (which was renamed "Tutti Frutti Mario")...

Pokemon (at least the Ash era) would be perfect for not only that block, but having a spot on the schedule all 7 days of the week.

I would love to have Pokémon shows on MeTV Toons but sadly, syndication rights is likely too expensive with TPC preferred streaming to linear TV.

Pokemon should also air on the main MeTV as well as Heroes & Icons.

Pokémon don't fit with MeTV nor H&I because MeTV only aired theatrical cartoon shorts in the morning and H&I is strictly 100% live action drama shows and certain western shows. Also, MeTV removed cartoon shows, exception of theatrical cartoon shorts after MeTV Toons launched.

I'm asking you to look at H&I and tell me about what you think?

MeTV Toons is one that is real possibility if TPC changes their heart, also Weigel could launch 24/7 anime channel but seems unlikely for OTA due to very niche market. If MeTV Toons get Pokémon, they are likely to get permanent time slot with shows up to Ruby and Sapphire or maybe Diamond and Pearl. Newer Pokémon shows? That is either Disney XD or CN territory.
