During commercial breaks, they "showcase" kids and their special talents or hobbies (one girl is a DJ, one's a dancer, etc.) Well, one of these girls is into music, and she shows off her music collection. If you look closely (or look at all), you can see that she doesn't have any original CDs. They're all burnt copies.

Just thought it was kinda funny and "Ooops!" at the same time :anime: :o

Maybe she downloaded the songs from iTunes or Napster?

We REALLY need a "-_-" face on this board.

I'm pretty sure they knew since she said "most of my music is burned". As for the topic itself, I doubt it. That's like saying showing a prostitute in a show is condoning women selling their services.

Bad analogy. This was supposed to be real life, not an actress playing a prostitute (or in this case, a "music lover").

They could have skipped the grey area by having her show only store-bought CDs. It's not like they barged into her room out of the blue. They should have prepared better.

iTunes. Riiiight. Maybe Napster a few years ago :p

I saw that commercial too, but all downloaded music isn't illegal.. Napster and Itunes were PROBABLY used to buy her music... I doubt it though

Yeah, when I first saw that I was like... "Uh... you can't show that." But apparently they can. :anime:

Burning CDs that you can just go buy is stupid in my opinion... Therefore this girl, to me, is stupid. :p

Hey, you callin' me stupid?

Anyhow, the last time I burned a CD, it was last year, and even then, it was comprised of music that can't be bought (in stores, at least).

Stuff like Cartoon Network music, and Toonami music (separately, though).

So, I guess I'm not stupid, then.

No-one thought maybe it was a compilation of her fave tracks she may have the orginal CD's for? But yesh. Most probably all downloaded, but you can't really prove it so they can show it if they wish.

I agree with downloading stuff you just can't get anywhere else. I'm just saying, it makes more sense to just go buy something if you can. You get the stuff that comes with it, and the picture on the cd (that's what's most important to me :ack: )And this girl most likely just downloads stuff freely like some kinda anorexic whore. Ha ha ha, I'm not serious, I'm just kidding, I've just been watching way too much South Park.

I was talking to my sisters about the same thing, i'd be funny if she got fined. I don't see the big deal with pirating music though, people still make millions of dollars.

They probably couldn't prove it was downloaded stuff unless they went and knocked on her door, anyway. They could probably argue she had simply made copies of what she owned. But yeah, I thought it was interesting.

Well, there was an episode of Pelswick that revolved around music piracy.

There was also a Proud Family episode that dealed with that too.

I thought the Pelswick episode was Pelswick starting a pirate radio station after his favorite radio station in Bayville gets changed not piracy music.

Everyone condones music piracy, and rightfully so. The RIAA is just an attention-seeking organization that really needs to get out more.

An episode of Futurama also dealed with the piracy issue as well.

I even heard that some bands condone Music Piracy, as they royalties they recieve from the CD's they make are microscopic (As Little as 2 Cents PEr CD Sodl, Which is why MAny Bands are giving up on Major Labels and making and distributing CD's independently)

The music piracy thing is in another one.
I certainly would think that the filming crew assumed that the average viewer would probably focus less on the appearance of the disc cases.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
