Nintendo 3DS - General Talkback Thread 2

With the colors of the buttons on the newer models, I'd probably replace the word "New" with "Super", probably because the A, B, X and Y buttons on the models resemble the ones on the JP and PAL editions of the SNES controller. Maybe the US names for the models will be the Super Nintendo 3DS and Super Nintendo 3DS XL.

I'm running really low on space on my original 3DS. Buying that Zexal game last month took up a lot more block than I had expected. With updates for X/Y available and a couple of games that I would like to download within the near future, I think that I need to get a new SD card. Has anyone here had to transfer their data from an SD card to a new one? I've read up about how to go about doing it, but I wanted to make sure that games that you download from the Nintendo eShop transfer as well. I wouldn't want to be forced into buying new copies of my downloaded games, especially when I've done so much with Pokemon Battle Trozei. The SD card I have came with the 3DS, so I think that means it has 2GB worth of space, although I could be mistaken about that. What would be the best replacement SD card to get?

Also, I'm using a Mac OS X laptop. Would I be able to use that in order to transfer the data from the old SD card into the new one?
First off, information on how to transfer 3DS data between memory cards can be found here.

As for some of the other questions:

-When you transfer 3DS data between memory cards, all the downloaded content will be there, so you don't need to worry about redownloading it.

-In terms of memory card size, it depends on how much you're planning to download. For me, I use a 32GB card, which can hold a good 240,000 to 250,000 "blocks" (the form of data for the 3DS).

One last thing about the memory cards. 32GB is the max size a 3DS can work with. Don't get anything larger, you could run into problems. Also make sure it is the SDHC type, not SDXC. The latter is typically what stores carry, but it is not supported by the 3DS. The card I linked to in my previous post will work.

Incidentally, the New 3DS is rumored for a February 13 release in America based on info from Gamestop. Whether that date proves accurate or not, it seems apparent we're going to get one and see it come out in the early part of the year.

Ugh. Why can't Nintendo do nice things for me in terms of the release of the New 3DS? First, the Nintendo Direct that will most likely announce the release date of the system is tomorrow, with me having to go to work tomorrow because I want Thursday off for Oscar nominations, and now the release date is rumored for the first day of Katsucon, meaning I'll either have to pick up my badge Thursday night so that way I can get the system Friday morning or I'll have to hope that there's a midnight sale at my local Gamestop.

EDIT: In terms of the 3DS release date, after browsing online about it, either one of two things will happen:

1. The Feb. 13 date is indeed going to be the launch date, with Majora's Mask coming out the same day.
2. The launch date will actually be March 13 instead (to coincide with the release of Code Name S.T.E.A.M.).

No offense to anyone here, but personally, I don't think we should try to "predict" or even "expect" anything. What will happen, will happen. As has been stated before, we shouldn't set our expectations too high. We'll just end up disappointing ourselves when/if they don't announce what we predict/expect. In any case, whatever it is they announce, I do know that they at least will have meant well, even if I end up not agreeing with certain things...

Man, what a buzzkill.

They announced everything we expected/was predicted! So there!

Wow. Nintendo really flubbed the American New 3DS launch. No regular-sized version for the US, no faceplates, no AC adapter. And, unlike Europe, the Majora's Mask unit doesn't come with the game.

It's like they've learned nothing from the 3DS and Wii U launches. If you want lots of early adopters, you have to make the upgrade look attractive.

Considering the Majora's Mask unit sold out in less than 30 minutes, I'd say there isn't any problems with attractiveness here.

But that's one exclusive, almost certainly LE configuration out of a possible several. And if it sold out within hours of the direct, what does that say about the manufactured quantities?

You're telling me. I fear that many customers who were awaiting the North American arrival of the New Nintendo 3DS will not be happy with Nintendo that they might start a petition for Nintendo to release both the New 3DS XL and the smaller-sized New 3DS with the interchangeable face plates, similar to how fans of the off-topic Family Guy were not too happy with what happened to Brian Griffin on November 24, 2013.

IMHO, we don't really know if Nintendo won't ever release the regular New Nintendo 3DS in the future. I personally don't agree with this myself, but with all due respect, I'm not going to assume the worst about Nintendo because of it. As for not including an AC adapter, that probably wasn't an easy decision to make. My personal guess is that they did it in order to keep the cost down. As for why they're (currently) not bringing over the regular New Nintendo 3DS, maybe if we all ask really nicely, they might (repeat: MIGHT) give an answer...

They already did. Only releasing the XL version "makes the most sense for [the American] market". It bears emphasis that the US literally the only market to not get the regular-sized n3DS.

I can take or leave it, because nothing about it justifies $200 at the moment, but Nintendo's handling of the whole thing is just stupefying.

EDIT: And not including an adapter is for the benefit of "consumers who may already own a 3DS or DSi system". That's almost like a tacit admission that they don't expect to sell many units beyond the Nintendo faithful, since it's the first American-released Nintendo handheld since 2001 to not come with an adapter.

Dangit! I don't want an XL ><! I want the regular sized one with the faceplates and the Super Famicom buttons!

First, this practice is also in effect with both the Japanese and European systems (in fact, we should be lucky that the original 3DS XL actually did come with a charger, as they weren't available in the Japanese and European versions). Second, not including a charger does makes some sense IMO. Most people are going to be buying this system as an upgrade to their old 3DS systems (heck, I held off upgrading to one of the Gamestop exclusive 3DS XL systems in hope that the New 3DS would come out in America). As someone who has the chargers from my DSi and 3DS (with one being used as a travel charger), I have no problem with the New 3DS not coming with a charger, with me planning to use my old 3DS charger for this system (although I plan to use both chargers for the data transfer process).

Anyways, my mother served as a proxy for me while I was at work and was able to pre-order the Majora's Mask New 3DS before it was sold out at Gamestop (I would have been fine with a regular New 3DS system, but opted with that to go with the Majora's Mask pre-order).

I'm not getting one. My 3ds is less than a year old and it is a PITA to transfer downloaded games.

Speaking of which, how long before THAT problem blows up?

Last night started watching a new adult animated series, a Netflix original that is basically the succesor to Big Mouth.

What is so great? Despite being a 18+ show, they actually bothered to give it a Romanian dub :ack::eek:
