Nintendo 3DS - General Talkback Thread 2

To be fair though, we've been getting a new Pokemon each year since Platinum six years ago. I don't mind getting a year off.

I don't mind a year break from Pokemon games either. While having new Pokemon games coming out each is pretty cool, it's also a bit overwhelming. You'd need to have money to buy the new game, or games if you want to get both, and have enough time to play through them before new games are announced in the following year. Plus, I think that putting out a new game each year is starting to take its toll on the games. I enjoyed X/Y, but I feel like the storyline and especially the characters were underwhelming for the most part and there was a lot of missed opportunities. I don't know if the problems are due to the desire to get games out every year, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor at least for X/Y's problems.

Even if they did announce a new main series game at E3, it probably would have been for next year since I think it's too late in the year to announce a new main series game at this point. I was hoping/expecting some kind of announcement given that next year is the franchise's 20th anniversary, but they might be saving that for a future Pokemon Direct announcement instead of just including that in with E3 announcements. I think that a breather would be good for everyone. It gives fans a chance to breathe without a new main series games being announced and the developers have more time to work on the next game/games so that they're potentially better than they would have been if they rushed to get them out this year. Considering how long they've been putting out new Pokemon games every year, I don't think a year break would hurt in the long run.

I don't either, I'm just surprised is all.

No, but I remember how successful the last Nintendo handheld with that feature was.

To be fair the Game Boy Micro came out when the DS was already out.

Even if there had been some E3 announcement for a new main series Pokemon game, it probably would have been for next year. I think it's too late put out a main series game for this year. If that was going to be the case, they most likely would have announced it back in May.

No third version or sequels this year? This would be the first time in the franchise's history where more then two years have passed without either of those.

So be it. No one can complain that Nintendo is "milking" Pokemon this year now.

Guess we may be getting the smaller-sized system in the States someday after all. Reggie has hinted about it, as mentioned on this page.

Hm... I guess I thought it was already priced at $99. Lol.

There have been quite a few times where some retailers have offered a $99 Nintendo 2DS before this. This may mean $80 or less Nintendo 2DS sales in November for some stores.

Certainly not my favorite version of the handheld, but at that price it's a steal.

The 2DS design reminds me of the old Game Boy Color, and seems to share some characteristics with those.

Still, I don't know what they were thinking. The 3DS is so all about taking it out and about with the Streetpass feature, but who has pockets big enough to fit one of those things? I don't even know if it'd even fit in my purse! Granted I have a small purse... But point made?

The answer to that is simple: the 2DS is meant to be the 3DS for younger gamers, with the system being that "big" as a result of Nintendo making it more durable for these type of gamers (i.e. not including a "clamshell" form).

Well, I have some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that #OperationFaceplateNA has succeeded. The smaller-sized New Nintendo 3DS is finally coming to North America on September 25.

The bad news is that at launch, it will only be available in white, and as a bundle with Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.

I just hope it will eventually see an individual release in North America, and in black, too.

In just eleven more days, we will finally have the option to customize since the Game Boy Micro.

*sigh, Why is nobody except me talking about the New 3DS finally coming to the US? This is my third post in a row, the system arrives in three days, and nobody has posted a reply.

I'm guessing it's because not that many people are interested in the system. I might at some point if they have any exclusive New 3DS games that I'd be willing to check out and it might be easier to put a larger SD card in a new system than trying to figure out how to transfer all of my data from my current 3DS system, but I don't know if I'll get it anytime soon. Besides, your last two posts have just been about how long it will be until the New 3DS comes out, so that doesn't provide much discussion to go off of unless someone else is interested in the New 3DS.

At this point I have to wonder if there will ever be a N3DS-exclusive game besides Xenoblade. But then, I didn't really buy for that access in the first place. The size and better 3D was enough. I don't know that I'd transition to the regular size N3DS now, although I do find my current one a bit large for a pocket. If they release a special edition for Fire Emblem Fates next year though, that would definitely make me do it. Give me the right cool theme and I'm probably OK without face plates.

I *was* going to get the regular size because that's what I originally wanted but the Zelda one for TriForce Heroes was too tempting to pass up preordering on.

I already have a 3DS... I don't need another one. It's not that what the New 3DS adds isn't cool, but it isn't anywhere close to being a must-have, especially because I have no interest in the exclusive title(s?).

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
