Opera or Firefox?

Take me to the Opera?

Which browser do you prefer?

First off, I want to thank you for posting this thread. I would have never checked if they made any changes with Opera from the last time I tried it before going with Firefox.

If anyone is out there wondering what these two browsers are, download them yourself and try them out. They are both free and full versions. Firefox and Opera from downloads.com . If you are still using Internet Explorer, please try either of them out.

When I first tried Firefox, I didn't like it. It's because on my computer (after a reboot and all the startup programs load), when I fire up the program for the first time, it takes slightly longer to start up than IE or Opera. But on the other had, I didn't like Opera as it had ads. So I went with Firefox.

I would recommend Firefox though. I used it for months now and it is a great browser. The extensions available are awesome. Heck, the adblock extension completely obliterates any ad, image, frame you want from a website.

Although after playing around with Opera for two days, there are some interesting things with this browser. This is with the basic program with no extension installed. With tab browsing, I sometimes close the wrong tab. With Opera there is a mini trash can that can revive closed tabs quickly verses hunting them down via my history list. The side bar can also be used to display current files downloading and I can place a website in that sidebar (such as a dictionary website). If I accidentally close the entire browser, Opera saves the web location of all tab windows. So when I fire up Opera again, it looks exactly like how I had it before closing the program. That freaked me out the first time. I was wondering where the heck my homepage went. Also scrolling appears to be a bit smoother with Opera.

Finally, the neat thing is that it does have a spell checker similar to iespell this forum uses with Internet Explorer. After you download and install the components, it functions pretty well and you can add words to it.

Later.

Could you please tell me how to do this with Firefox and could you also hook me up with the download to this extension? I've been using this browser for a year now and I can't even get it to stop popups from, well, popping up.

Honestly, I miss Internet Explorer. If I weren't so paranoid about security, I'd switch back to it.

Here is the link to the adblock extension:

You can begin to block ads yourself if you wish as they render, OR you can import a canned filter. The filter to kill all other filters is Filterset.G

Here is the Filterset.G link:

Adblock Extension + Filterset.G = Surfing Nirvana

Adblocks make Toon Zone's wallet cry.

Prior to importing the extension to my browser, I utilized the adblock technology which came preinstalled with my body.

To illustrate, here we see a user that cut his advertisement intake by half:

[Firefox] doesn't seem a whole lot better than IE, and to be perfectly honest it crashes a little more. It's almost as if there's some kind of memory leak issue.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, or maybe re-downloading it? 'Cause I've never heard of it crashing on any kind of regular basis. What OS are you using? I've only ever used it on XP, maybe it has compatibility issues with older OSs that I'm unaware of....

But it also makes it much easier for us lowly dial-up's to surf since it's easy to keep pictures from loading without stopping the entire page.

Just for that FF>all.

Then add in tabs, gtranslate, flashgot, and image zoom. I don't think I can ever use anything else.

Since I never click the ads, I would think that my blocking them would be completely irrelavant.

We actually sell ads by impression, not clicks.

Firefox is best known for its extentions and themes. I think that the most famous theme is the Noia 2.0 eXtreme. It makes the Firefox look better and fresher. As for the extentions, Forcastfox>all. All the local weather on my status bar, no need to open a separate tab and dig around Weather.com or Accuweather.com for local weather anymore. Its right there if you need it.
