I saw the same screener at Fanime Con 2K. Same response. Stunned silence during the character scenes, followed by loud cries of anguish when the special effects montage ran featuring recycled Babylon 5 footage that EVERYONE recognized. It's been scrapped. It was roundly booed, IIRC, at Comiccon(can't remember if it was here, curse my memory....) back in '01(or was it '00?), mainly because it was going to be a CGI series in the same vein as Voltron: The 3rd Dimension.
Due to this, Harmony Gold decided that a sequel series would be animated in Japan, as of right now a sequel series is in its pre production and planning stages right now.
