It's been scrapped. It was roundly booed, IIRC, at Comiccon(can't remember if it was here, curse my memory....) back in '01(or was it '00?), mainly because it was going to be a CGI series in the same vein as Voltron: The 3rd Dimension.

Due to this, Harmony Gold decided that a sequel series would be animated in Japan, as of right now a sequel series is in its pre production and planning stages right now.

I saw the same screener at Fanime Con 2K. Same response. Stunned silence during the character scenes, followed by loud cries of anguish when the special effects montage ran featuring recycled Babylon 5 footage that EVERYONE recognized. Just who did they think they'd fool?

Any old anime-type property Netter Digital gets their hands on turns to crap.

Which is why it never happened.

I just hope that any new Robotech is better than Macross 7.

Why doesn't Harmony Gold just buy the rights to macross 7, Macross Plus, and Macross Zero no one has the rights to them.

Er...Big West owns them and I sincerly doubt they'll ever let HG handle more of their properties without a major sacrifice on HG's part.

Not to mention Macross 7 is expensive due to the fact that the music rights are seperate from the rights to the actual series. (And if I remember correctly they cost just as much as the series itself).

Also not to mention Manga has had Macross Plus over here in the states since what, at least 1996?

they havent just hinted at it, it is pretty much a done deal. Macross 7 shall be released here in the next year and i say Hooray, more Min-Mei and Hikaru and Misa and Janus.

Man, you won't be saying hooray after you actually see Macross 7. It has nothing in common with the other Macross series.

If you really feel like torturing yourself that badly you can view the video on HG's Robotech webpage.

That wasn't so bad really. It looked pretty good for CG (which I hate), but what did it have to do with Robotech? It looked more like Starship Troopers Roughnecks. The part about rebelling robots seemed taken from Patlabor.

Apperently the machines were being taken over by some form of Protoculture. It was verfied that RT3K wouldn't have had a single transforming mecha, though.

By the way Zero, where did you hear about Bandai working on getting Mac7 over here soon? With the legal battles going on with Harmony Gold and no mention of it on Macrossworld(pretty much the biggest source of stateside Macross news) it just doesn't seem that likley.

actually it was in a recent issue of Animerica, they had a timeline of Macross to Robotech. in the article they mention when such series being brought over here.

YEAOWTCH!!! that was pretty bad! it was .....so NOT robotech.

I felt like I was watching max Steel (not a compliment)

I didn't see anything form babylon 5, was it that ship they kept showing?

To celebrate the fact that I got three weeks off from work for rest, I watched today the latest installment in the separate Minions series of movies. What I loved was the unique logo variation of the Universal logo, which was akin to the plot taking place in the late 1800s

Not everything from DC and Marvel comics needs to be more like the adaptations.
