"Stu Go" News And Discussion Thread

(very late, but) y'know i always read that title as "Stu-Gee-Oh", so hearing it now gave me a shock

also the way they end this promo feels like they're waiting for a local tv announcer to pick up after them like these old syndication promos from way back:

The sneak peak airs tonight at 8:50 PM (EST) on Disney Channel and XD.
For real, this time.

honestly... i'm not feeling it.

i want to like anything new, but really, this just isn't my thing. i'm certain some people will enjoy it, but i'm just not.

I like that they're trying with a new format and it's a bit different but it's still very meh for me. I can't judge it based off this episode alone though.

I do feel the complaints about the art style and the animation.. Though it takes time to know the characters and it has potential to grow. The alligator mutant guy is fun though. Hope he returns.

I will say the show looks like a Cartoon Network show that escaped. It's an interesting art style, it's not bad but something different for Disney. There's one thing no one can say in current time, that any of the current Disney TV animated shows look like each other at all.

I like how this show is different by not going with quirky girl lead, instead a cast of six 4 girls -2boys , kind of like Recess did. It will be interesting to get to know this group. I like that they are kind of a mixture of smart kids but done in a different way where it's not redundant or played out tropes.

I like they went for just Dr. Lullah reveal herself to be the mad scientist and not some big mystery they have to solve. This whole show so far in the first 4 episodes has been funny , I'm surprised we got a unhinged humor show on Disney Channel again, it's been awhile, probably not since Future Worm! So I hope that this show stays that way and doesn't try to do some big story later, that'd kind of be a shame.

The Island is pretty interesting too, I like the folks on it, the fun animals and minor characters are fun. This was a show I wasn't sure what to think about yet, but it was a fun start.

Also first episode set is on Youtube the other 2 aren't. so... uhh

ngl i'm really hoping the audience gives the show time to marinate and cultivate

recently i've been seeing a lotta folks drop a show when it doesn't cater to their extremely specific tastes so

The other episode (that was the actual first one) was a lot better than the preview.
I agree with a lot of the criticisms about the animation and the art style not being the most inventive and the show being episodic I like episodic cartoons but in this instance something a bit more serialized would have had interesting story opportunities. An episodic show could still flesh itself out but having some kind of story progression between the kids and Dr. Lula would have been nice.

The characters seem pretty cool and it's different from the typical Disney show we've seen in the past few years so that's a bonus. The format seems pretty inventive. With there being a narrator and we see characters having some kind of normal conversation.

Depending on how this goes I could either really like this or just get kind of bored with it. It really just depends on the comedy and how inventive these standalone adventures are but it will take some time to grow.

I like it so far. At least better than Hailey's On It. Most of the jokes worked for me. The show's got wit.

"Not wormy enough. Story of my life."

Episode 2 is currently free on Disney Now

Of course, eventually new episodes will be on Disney Now and Disney XD on demand so if you don't have subscribe to XD but have Disney Channel, you just sit there and wonder about life or make sure you DVR it, or both.

The premiere only got 99K.

Keep in mind this premiered during the sneak peek of the new Thundermans show.

I know I’m late to the party here, but I finally watched the first episode. I liked it for being different than Disney’s other recent cartoons. I will definitely be checking out more.

So far it's pretty good, although the theme song is kinda annoying and the title StuGo stinks.

Francis is by far the best character and should be used as the "main" one of the group instead of Pliny (what kinda name is that anyway?), although the episodes have been pretty good at balancing them equally. The ranking of the 6 goes: Francis >> Merian > Chip = Sara > Larry > Pliny.

Dr. Lullah is Dr. LAME!!! She has some funny moments but most of the time I'm just wanting the kids to gang up on her. Her dog assistant is named Mr. Okay, and that sure describes his quality.

The episode "Alpha Beta Chip" might have a Pickle And Peanut crossover.

The Disney Branded Television PR site mentions that Johnny Pemberton will voice a character named Peanut who might be the same Peanut from the show.

I think he voices a mutant named Peanut but who knows.

I'm not sure what they are doing, but I'm not questioning it , even episodes 3 and 4 are free to watch on Disney Now without having to sign in so... one could actually watch all 4 episodes right now. So that's good.

copying a thread i just posted on Bluesky:

i've watched more episodes of StuGo ever since the preview episode aired.

1. it's not as bad as i thought it would be, but i also still see nothing very captivating about it.

2. why is one of the main characters named after Pliny the Elder?

3. the music is not very good, which is disappointing, because Brad Breeck (Gravity Falls) is the music composer

4. what does student government (which is what StuGo is an abbreviation of) have to do with the show's plot?

Is that Joan Cusack voicing Jessie in that Toy Story Papa John's commercial? If so, it sounds rough. Woundn't surprise me if it wasn't, though.
