TALKBACK - Adventure Time - "Thank You" - [11/23]

This was a really touching episode. It reminded me a lot of some of the sadder episodes of Courage the Cowardly Dog, what with the lack of talking and the slightly sad music at points, along with the occasional bit of humor thrown in. Did anyone else get that vibe?

Great episode :anime:
My favorite parts are Ice King's Super Ice Armor and the scene with the cow XD

Actually I'm with Starbro: I didn't hate this episode but I don't think it's honestly Oscar winning worthy or even one of the best Adventure Time evers. I do appreciate they were trying for a slow pace and incoperating a mostly dialoguless story of the ice golem and fire wolf (didn't Jake say Fire mole at the end though or was that just me?) but seems actually fairly been there, done that. Espiecally for a theatrical short. It's the kind of thing that seems "look at us being clever with our subtext and charmingly cute characters getting along in a few scenes. Aren't we clever? Please hand up all awards to the left". In truth besides the golem trying to feed the wolf milk and the actual earnest scene of him risking being in the lava more to return the pup to it's kind nothing really that interesting with that plot. In truth I much prefered Ice King, Finn and Jake's scene between the super armor and then tearing through it to get their sandwitches back. Seemed actually like the more interesting story truthfully. Again not bad but IMHO this isn't exactly AT's best. I prefer the strait out character episodes or the ones that are more focused on the main cast of characters developing a bit then shows like this.

This was a good episode, to me. Sure, the formula was pretty basic, but there was enough Adventure Time quirkiness to stop it from feeling like you've seen it before.

Also, I'm a sucker for wordless storytelling. (Didn't stop Finn/Jake/Ice King's scenes from being awesome)

I think I'm gonna show this episode to everyone I know who thinks Adventure Time is stupid. Season 3 has been glorious so far, with better storytelling than any other cartoon still on the air and 2 beyond amazing one-shots.

It was a good short, but I almost feel like it was made just to be nominated for an Academy Award. It has all the stuff they look for in short films (limited dialogue). It almost seemed to be made that way deliberately. It's like when some shows will make an episode that mostly exists so they can get nominated for an Emmy.

Oscar announced their shortlist for best animated shorts, and "Thank You" is not listed.
Shame.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
