The Phoenix is calling, and so are the wedding bells! No sun's shining down here, especially with a first season finale rematch looming in the fifth episode of 'Winx Club,' Season Two!

*Previously on 'Winx Club'*
Stella and Brandon fell down a giant cavern hole in the UnderRealm, and seemed to survive it... at least temporarily, as they ended up being washed down a raging river and eventually, sucked into a whirlpool.

Upon coming to, apparently to fans' delight (or displeasure, depending on your view of the duo), they found themselves being carried off to an UnderRealm kingdom known as Downland. The kingdom is ruled by a woman named Amentia, who accepts nothing less than perfection out of herself and everyone around her. Sponsus, the duo's guide in Downland, is in love with her and wants to become her husband.

But upon taking Brandon and Stella to meet Amentia, his heart is dashed upon the rocks, so to speak, as Amentia falls head over heels for Brandon. Stella would probably be fired up about it too... if it weren't for the fact that her life force was draining away thanks to there being no access to sunlight.

Meanwhile, despite Bloom's protests, she moves on with Layla and Sky, hoping they'll get to Shadow Haunt soon and rescue the pixies. But Lord Darkar insists on toying with them with more monsters, and this time it looks as if he'll be able to get rid of them. That is, until Stella, having found her way out of Downland (at the risk of losing her boyfriend to Amentia forever) and having been able to recharge her powers, saves the day!

Episode #131 - "Rescuing the Pixies"
Summary: For months, Icy, Darcy, and Stormy have been dreaming of getting their revenge on Bloom and the Winx girls for ruining their plans to take over Magix. This week, they get their chance to fulfill that dream, as they are Lord Darkar's last line of defense! Does our heroines' (and lone hero's) rescue mission end here?

Could this be the breakout episode we've been waiting for this season? It's time for a fight, ladies and gentlemen!

Before things get started I just wanted to say something...

Our talkbacks are the BEST of this community. No exagaration! Take a look a other talk backs. Family Guy, Simpsons, Uncut DBZ, Bobobo. It's 3+ pages of single sentences of people saying something about the episode. Mostly if they loved it or hated it. Or some random point about the show.

Basically the ONLY weekly talk backs that come close to our kind of quality were the Paranoia Agent talk backs. Awesome job guys, I love our talk backs.

Thank YOU, Draven. Indeed these are without a doubt the best talkbacks TZ has.

(And a bonus props for FF for the detailed synopsis and poll answers. Great stuff. :) )

Well, the show does give us plenty to talk back about. And we have the pleasure of not having to worry about too many complainers. (Besides, there are other 4Kids shows that get a whole lot more attention and a whole lot more grumbling and griping than us. Which is fine by me.)

Oh, and I just had to make up for being lazy in last week's poll, so I got the creative juices flowing to create a good one this week. Because honestly, we shouldn't be arguing and yelling about 4Kids all the time... we need to be making spoof-y fun of them! :p

Would like to see the entire TZ membership adopt that mantra and at least have it last through the entire weekend. Though I doubt that's plausible...

EDIT: Shame I spent half an hour picking out and revising the poll entries and what the exact statements would be... and I still made a darn typo.

Yes, does this mean Bloom is a cross-dresser? :D

Wow! This was the best ep of season 2 yet. Definitely on par with some of the best from season one, too.

Highlights:

-The good Stella is back with no talk of fashion and just excellent lines. That's the Stella I love!

-Tune's polite shriek.

-The death of Charmy: I can't believe they showed what I presume was the remnants of a dead pixie. Definitely the most disturbing thing I've ever seen on this show and I'm amazed it wasn't cut. And as I said in LJ, Charmy must be the pixie of nudity, because there are no clothes there, just the hat, necklace and boots.

-Darkar in snake form. He wasn't annoying at all this week.

-STELLA: Personally, I can't waaaaaaaait. Nothin' says good times like a sunless, monster-ridden cavern.

-Boarding down the chasm. Layla and Sky's skills and Bloom and Stella's lack thereof. And Stella's running into a big pile of petrified poop.

-BLOOM: And what if it's just solid rock?
SKY: *perkily* We'd implode.

-Brandon's expressions during his injections.

-Stella teasing Sky.

-SKY: Water park? *confused face* (Sky was great in this episode.)

-Tecna's nerd rap.

-The witches and their upped powers, including the return of psycho clone, my fave Stormy power. And the addition of poser hex, which I really liked. But the best was Icy's bridge-freezing scene.

-Layla's transformation still includes her growl. Awesome. Her beating up the energy cage was good, complete with her big red burn or bloody scrape on her arm. I'm surprised they showed an actual injury.

-ICY: You Red Fountain boys, mmm, you're all so shiverous. (One of Icy's best lines ever. She's not as good at banter as Darcy is.)

-Avalon and everyone's reactions to him.

-SKY: Hey, I'm pretty handsome and brave, too, y'know. Oh, no! Monsters!

-AMORE: Ohhh, you're so beautiful!
STELLA: And you're so adorable!
SKY: Stella's returning a compliment? What's that about? *scratches head*

Definitely an excellent ep all around.

DANGIT! Overslept again and missed it. That's twice in a row. Well, off to LJ to catch up on what I missed. (That's the beauty of Darcy's LJ. I can always count on her to keep me up on what I missed. And from the summary, it sounds like a good one.)

Nah, maybe they're sending Knut at that Sky guy ;)

To sag_2002: you'll have to get up early next week, since eilonwe/Darcy won't be around to summarize it for you.

As for this week, here's the LJ summary (and eilonwe/Darcy notes that they're profiling the pixies during the adbreaks).

Hee hee! Yeah, I'll be on vacation not this coming weekend (ep 6) but the next (ep 7). I'm setting up the VCR though and it had better tape properly. Summary will occur when I return. I'm hoping to catch the episode while I'm in Florida, too. I've just got to figure out when it's on.

It'll be on the local FOX station (you can figure this out yourself) at 9:30am eastern, except for:

Miami: The UPN station, WBFS 33 (while living in south Florida, I grew up with this station as an independent!) carries the block on Sunday from 7-11am.
Tampa: WMOR 32 carries the block on Sunday from 8am-Noon.
Panama City: WPGX 28 carries it from 7-11am on Saturday, due to being in the part of Florida in the Central Time Zone (I guess).

The TMNT page has a good list of when 4Kids.TV comes on where:

http://www.ninjaturtles.com/html/tv4kidsmarkets.html

Yeah, we're going to be in the Central Time Zone area on an island off the panhandle. I figure I'll just get up around 6:30 and watch Fox until it comes on, unless we have a TV guide thingy to consult.

Hmm, Avalon showing up just after Darkar mentions something about "Time for pixies to escape"? Coincedince? I'd rather go with Suspicious turn of events.

Another awesome episode to remember! The surfing pixie running smack into Tecna's computer was pretty funny. Darcy's comments above hit on all the wonderful points in the show. Darkar as a snake was cool, nice way to scare the pixies!

Our community.. it is dying.. THE HORROR! THE HORROR!!! Bo-BoBo-Bo-BoBoBo's community is more alive then this.

Ask for a review and you shall receive!

There wasn't too much worth noting this week, but still, I put in on par with last week's episode, meaning the show continues its upward trend since the season opener.

Seriously, though... it's gotten to the point where Layla's not only ahead of the other Winx girls, it's like the other girls have stopped trying. 'Cept for Stella, who's gaining back some respectability in her dialogue and (the B-plot about to become A-plot) the deal with Amentia trying to steal away Brandon.

Layla's getting physical, actually bruising herself trying to get the pixies out of their prison. Nice to see some edge in her.

The Trix rebound nicely in their first appearance since escaping 'camp,' and they whooped up on our heroes. This is the fun dialogue and kick-butt ness that made them fun to watch in Season One, even if the battle was completely one-sided.

I guess we won't be seeing Darkar actually going head-to-head with the Winx girls anytime soon, huh?

Quote of the Week: "Being hard-headed comes in handy sometimes. Check it... I cracked a rock!" - Stella

7.5 out of 10 for "Rescuing the Pixies."

Nothing to do with the ep, but since this is a Winx thread...

Okay, last season, Flora spent several scenes spread over 11 eps (that's almost half the whole season, people!) dealing with Mirta the pumpkin. In the finale, one of the teachers said that Mirta would be an exchange student at Alfea next semester.

We're five eps into the new season, and to be fair, three of them were mostly spent in the UnderRealm. That still doesn't stop some people from asking, "Where's Mirta?" Wonder if she'll even be making an appearance at all this season...

Just before we head into the next ep...

Layla transforms with her awesome growl. I'm so glad that's part of her official transformation.

I'd hate to break this, but I strongly doubt what we're seeing here is her "official" sequence. The safari stuff she's wearing in the current eps (and her "growl" transform) isn't really her regular outfit (in fact, eilonwe herself posted the picture of her regular outfit here). Here's a page full of Winx-related videos (mostly characters' transforms):

http://www.winx-club.de/content/downloads-it2.html

I strongly suggest you check out the Musa-Aisha sequence, for an idea of what to expect her transforms to look like once she's back in her "regular" outfit (I'll say this right here tho: no growling!).

Wonders if the Rainbow people forgot that her safari outfit was only going to be used 3-4 eps and made a "stock footage" of her transform based on that outfit, and had to come up with something else for when she went back into her regular?

What I'm more interested in is the way she acts like she's shooting two pistols at the end of her sequence. ;)

Crap in a hat. I was so excited that I didn't notice that. Oh, well. Why should she be any different from the other girls and have a less lackluster transformation? I suppose it was inevitable.

Ooo, edited to add a second thought: I think a lot of season two will have the girls in outfits that aren't their official casual outfit, so maybe there's hope of more growling Layla yet. I refuse to give up hope!

Sorry, I'm late, everyone. My computer's been down for a while and I haven't had a chance to comment on this ep yet. Anyway, here are my thoughts on "Rescuing the Pixies":

1. I couldn't help feeling sorry for the pixies when Darkar dragged the location of their village out of them. Although, they lied to him.

2. That was a clever idea that Layla had with sand boarding down the hill.:) Too bad Bloom & Stella couldn't get the hang of it.:p

3. Although, Bloom was becoming "leader" again (like last season, I mean), she made a good point telling off Stella to conserve their Winx powers. Otherwise, they won't stand a chance against Darkar & the Trix.

4. I'm glad Layla freed the pixies, but she sure got bruised up doing it. That looked like blood on her arm to me.:ack:

5. I felt very sorry when the Trix was giving everyone a pounding with their updated powers.:( Luckliy, that paladin showed up to stop them in time!:D

6. It was funny how Sky got confused when Stella was returning a compliment to pixie Amore.:p It seems Bloom & pixie Lockette got to know each other pretty well too.:)

Pretty good ep, I give it 4 stars.:D I hope they'll be able to rescue Brandon from marrying that demented queen Amentia in the next ep.
