"In recent years, 2D retro “Pixal Art” games have become a trademark of the Indie Game industry, with Indie developers creating their own properties that are meant to mirror older games. For instance, “The Messenger” was a tribute to “Ninja Gaiden” on the NES, “Undertale” was inspired by “Earthbound” on the Super Nintendo. On the other hand, it seems very rare for a smaller studio to do a new pixel art game that’s based an existing franchise, but that’s what we now have with the “Terminator” franchise:
Publisher Reef Entertainment and development studio Bitmap Bureau revealed this last week their latest project: “Terminator 2D: No Fate”. The 2nd Terminator film was an iconic staple of the early 90’s and was adapted into multiple video games of the era, including versions on both the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, and in arcades with the classic “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” arcade shooter. Now we have a brand new adaptation featuring glorious pixel sprite artwork, unique levels inspired by the film, and….brand new “alternate” endings?!?
