The Official “Ask Jay Stephens” Thread!

Oops! Turns out I had one more question.

In the episode "The Thousand Eye's of Ahuizotl" I found it strange that Argost kept going on at the end about "eyes". Of course this could be that the episode was about a eye eating cryptid, but I got a vibe that Argost was trying to hint at something more.
Am I looking into this to deeply, or is Argost trying to hint at something deeper?

something

i forgot the last ime i have been here! well i have a question that i wanted to ask aftre something *cough* happened in school with me nd this *cough* boy *cough* well ignore that.
well jay, how did you come up zak saturday and his personality?
i know there must be the usual heroic things like bravery, powers with the shows topic, the usual problems of the age (13) and other stuff, but i noticed that one boy in my class looks ALOT like zak! i mean if only he had a star in his head and the hair colr he could be zak (exept r the powers and stuff)! did zak come randomely into your head or did you have a person you wanted to base the character on? please tell!

p.s.- i hope it is not the boy i was talking about or i will faint (me and the statis between me and him) get the idea!

Nothing personal but what does that have to do with Zak? I mean, Does this kid has a claw when he goes to school? It's like saying i saw a person that looks just like Drew Saturday, except for the hair style and white.........see what i mean? Jay might got inspired by the cartoon kids that appeared in Hanna Barbera like Johnny Quest or that kid from the Herculoids, believe me i doubt that person you mention has something to do of being an inspiration to creating Zak.

I'd say the underlying question, "who inspired Zak?" is probably ok.

We did, alittle bit. But not in flashbacks. We learned that he was poor and came to Baron Finster for money, to start Weird World.

I also think that there will be more, Jay said that there would be some thing big. We just probably have to wait for the finale.

Actually, something big happens in "And Your Enemies Closer". Really big. HUGE!

Anywho, I have a question.

What is Zak's middle name?

Just got done watching today's episode... Wow... Just... Wow... Never in my life did I have to take a breather from watching a cartoon before...

I have some things I want to ask, but if they'll be answered later in future episodes or other media's, please by all means ignore them. :)

Was it always planned that Argost was the Yeti? And if so, what was the desicion process in that?

Is Argost aware that he killed Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell and that Drew and Doyle are their childern?

Will more of Argost's past be revealed in the next episode? I'm very curious to know how Argost became so "human" like and such. There's so much more I would ask on this but I'll wait till next week's episode.

Will we find out why Argost need to kidnap the other yeti like creature?

Also, why didn't Argost just take Zak's power like he did with Zak Monday? I thought it didn't matter to him what happens to Zak as long as he get's what he wanted?

Thanks again!

I think i can answer this one(if i'm wrong then sorry :() Argost was beaten by Zak pretty bad that almost died from, if you where Argost you want to get revenge on that person but to do that he needs to even the odds and that's where Zak Monday comes in, so taking the powers from ZM Argost now posses the same powers as Zak and he will enjoy making Zak suffer the same way he did to him or even worst.

Argost wasn’t entirely sure if what he was doing would work the first time around, ergo why he referred to Zak Saturday as his “insurance policy”. If he had attempted it on Zak Saturday first, and Zak Saturday died, he wouldn’t have been able to get Zak Monday out of the mirror. That’s why he did what he did. He wanted to try his plan on Zak Monday first, so that if he failed, he could try again on Zak Saturday.

Ah! Both of your answers make so much sense! If my mind wasn't so boggled right now, I might of been able to think my question's answers out better.

Thank you guys both for helping me think a little straighter now! :anime:

Alright, I have quite a few questions, some of them are spoilers for anybody that hasn‘t seen tonight‘s episode.

1. When and where did the Saturdays get Komodo? Why does he have those powers?

2. Was Francis a test tube baby or did he have a mother?

3. If Argost was a cryptid, why didn’t Zak sense it in ‘Into the Mouth of Darkness’ or ‘Life in the Underground‘?

4. Do we ever learn just who Munya is and what his connection with Argost is?

5. Why the Yeti for Argost? Is he a personal favorite of yours or did you just want a cryptid that everyone could recognize?

6. Why did Argost decide to disguise himself as human and leave his mountain in the first place?

7. Why does Argost speak French if he's from Tibet?

8. Did you plan from the very beginning to have Argost steal Zak Monday's powers? And did he die?

Oh, and by the way, I love where Beeman lives. Nice touch.

Mr. Jay, did Zak Monday really die?? :crying::crying::crying::crying:

(I'd really like him to answer this since no one else is actually in The Secret Saturdays staff, or whatever, therefor their answer would be as good as mine)

I love this episode so much. I think I've watched "and your enemies closer" like 5 times now!:D I do have a question about it though.

1. In "kur rising" when Zak was fighting Argost in the anartic cryptid, Zak tried to make a connection to Argost to either control Argost or the susposed Kur. Why did the connection not work if Argost was indeed a cryptid and Zak's powers were even stronger in the cryptid? Or why didn't Zak at least sense that Argost was a cryptid?

2. Are Zak's pants suspossed to be khakis?

3. This question may of already been asked, but does Zak have any other friends besides the ones we've already seen? And if so, would we see them if CN decides to give TSS a third season?

4. On the third season note, have you gotten any information about whether or not CN is ordering another season?

5. Also, I know I asked the question if Zak could sing, so adding to that, can he play any instruments? And if so, that what ones?

Mr. Jay, the finale is near, and I'd be sure honored if you'd get to my two questions.

1. What was your inspiration for Doyle? I know the "bad-uncle" is an overplayed role in family oriented shows, but Doyle struck an original note in my opinion. Differing very much from Drew, with a much more juvenile personality, and some sick hair (I got my hair cut into a girls faux-hawk in honor) I would like to know what your motive was for him.

2. What has the "Secret Saturdays" meant to you as a creator? Have you felt the show had a good run, will you miss it now? I loved Secret Saturdays, Mr. Jay. Your committment to classic animation and developed storyline was a truly refreshing addittion to the network. You give me hope for the future of animation. Some weeks, I swear the only thing I managed to accomplish was hitching up my hood, running home from work (against protests of my co-workers) and making it home in time at ten oclock to open my cold bag of take-homes, and sit down to the Show with my sister. People couldn't understand my obsession with Saturday nights :P

Thank you Mr. Jay, you are truly gracious to your viewers to extend such a selfless hand in dedicating your time to us, fans.

This question has been nagging me for a while: what was Van Rook's password in episode 107?

Other than that, I second Necey's #3: how did Argost avoid detection as a cryptid by Zak? #6 as well, along with how the whole Kur thing got into Argost's head.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
