Toon Zone Talkback - Cartoon Network Upfront 2012 Coverage

Caspers Scare School what? Hasn't been there in forever. Everything else expected.

List seems incomplete because of the lack of Scooby-Doo!, ThunderCats, Beyblade and Redakai.

Edit: Johnny Test season 6? Well congratiolations then, they got more than 100 episodes.

Toonzone has updated the coverage.

Returning Series:
Adventure Time
Regular Show
The Amazing World of Gumball
The Looney Tunes Show
Ninjago
Level Up
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Young Justice
Johnny Test
Pokémon
Green Lantern: The Animated Series
Almost Naked Animals
Casper's Scare School
Hero 108
Scaredy Squirrel
Sidekick

Casper's Scare School? Scaredy Squirrel? Hero 108? Sidekick? Big surprises. Didn't expect those.

Johnny Test being renewed is kinda surprising.

I somewhat expected Almost Naked Animals to be renewed, but I kinda didn't.

Finally: No Generator Rex, Problem Solverz, SMFA... Wow.

I'll post more of my thoughts once the press release comes out.

So no mention on SD: MI Season 2. This is surprising seeing as though they have already released sceen grabs from 201. I wonder what is going on?

So the press release is out now though i was hoping they'd be specific as to when the returning shows would return lol.

"Cartoon Network also announced its ongoing commitment to its shorts program with ten original 7-minute shorts to be produced this year with a wholly dedicated production unit at Cartoon Network Studios. With production already underway on many of these projects, this continuing investment in diverse and unique talent has resulted in many of the network’s hit animated series.

Additionally, the network revealed that a third Cartoon Network Hall of Game Awards special has been slated for early 2013. The second annual telecast (Feb. 20, 2012), hosted by Shaquille O’Neal, ranked as the #1 program of the day among all boy demos, and out-performed the inaugural Hall of Game special by double and triple-digits—between 64% and 103%—across all kid and boy demos. Online voting for the celebrity sports awards also nearly tripled in participation, from 37 million votes in 2011 to more than 100 million votes in 2012."

^ Parts from the CN Upfront Press Release.

The first thing sounds like What a Cartoon and/or Cartoonstitute. I hope we get some new shows out of that. And there's the official announcement on another Hall of Game.

Im not going to lie this up.front rele blowa

I refuse to believe that Scooby-Doo would be off. It's season finale scored one of the highest amounts of total viewers. It was on the top 10 list, and I thought it already confirmed in May.

It is, we got screens of Episode 27, too!

Also, CN, I am disappoint. Better luck next year.

Was expecting more btw.

Also: No news on the rumored Tom and Jerry show. :(

Thundercats are missing from that list... yet they shouldn't be. At least 12 new episodes will air first before it's gone...

As for the new live-action show... Despite some of you might be against it, look at it from a marketing standpoint:

Nick Cannon has 3,353,916 followers on Twitter. That will help the ratings ALOT.

Generally, though, nothing from the Upfront surprises me. It all makes sense, so to speak.

Online popularity doesn't always translate into financial success. Snakes on a Plane, bronies and others have proven that time and time again. They can't assume that all of his followers will watch his show.

Actually, the clip they showed for the Nick Cannon show looked really funny. The woman net to me had water coming out of her eyes she was laughing so hard.

Then perhaps it will succeed on its own merits, but they can't assume that giving a celebrity a show will translate into success. It hasn't exactly worked out for them in the past. It's also unclear if any live-action show on the network will succeed. I thought that Unnatural History was a quality program, but it got canned after one season.

I am not expecting it, but I would be so plessent surprised if I saw of a new series Digimon Fusion Battles.

Huh, Thundercats, Scooby-Doo and Xiaolin Showdown are not mentioned on the upfront? Now that's a bummer. Better safe than sorry, then.

Sidekick is returning to CN with a second season. :D

Interested with the new Nick Cannon sketch comedy (as long as CN is not promoting the heck put of this show, much like Level Up) and the new Total Drama: Revenge of the Island.

Glad to see that CN has not forgot about Casper.

Level Up is getting a second? I don't know about that.

I Heart Tuesdays ins't mentioned in the upfront, so I'm curious about that.

Johnny Test is being renewed with a sixth season? I thought season five was the last. Its supposed to end with a two-parter?

This year's CN upfront is OK (so far). I was expecting Best Ed to join CN's lineup. Oh well.

:^: Oh! I forgot about I Heart Tuesdays. I hope that didn't get scratched or forgotten, but remember what they did to SMFA last year. They didn't talk about it much.

Wow no Thundercats? Probably we need to wait and see if they can confirm it will have another season like MAD.

Anyway no big surprises to be honest, i'm glad that Adventure Time and Regular Show they are still strong, the only new show i'm looking foward is Ben 10 Omniverse but that's it the others are kinda meh.

While this year it will be all about Space Jam's 30th anniversary, at the same time, its 2021 not-so-big sequel/reboot film also celebrates the milestone of 5 years since this month
