Toonami Anticipation Thread

I've got Adult Swim on in the other room, and I heard Toonami-esque music when Family Guy took its first commercial break. I ran over and saw that they were showing the Toonami teaser image they posted online earlier.

So on air promotion is already beginning. Maybe there'll be some more elaborate promos later on in the next week. :D

That's good to hear. We should get a better promo on Saturday(or earlier than that).

I know they probably won't do it but they could put Zetman and Tiger and Bunny together. They're two superhero shows. I just don't know if Zetman is too violent. There is nudity and heavy violence.

Holy monkey --- Toonami is trending #1 on G+.

I don't suppose anyone captured that bump that aired during Family Guy? I kinda want to hear the music

The press release says that Adult Swim is developing new original anime programming for Toonami. This is potentially huge. We could be seeing a TON of stuff coming down the pipeline (a full-fledged Gunsmith Cats anime would likely be a slam dunk) if this is true, unless this is a weird way to say that they're airing new acquisitions.

They are really going the extra mile, and the fact that TOM 3 just got HDed pretty much means there's some thought and effort being put just into the bumps.

I betcha that Bleach on Saturday is going to be crammed with promo stuff. I bet that the empty slots will be revealed Saturday too.

It was the exact same music that played here:

Nothing new.

I don't think too much time should be dedicated to old shows, an hour would be fine. For new stuff, i'd love to see Madoka, Steins;Gate, and Hunter x Hunter 2011. I think those would be good fits. i'd personally love to see One Piece, but that's a bit iffy, though I think it would fit, i'm biased on that.

And I am happy Toonami is coming back, so long as it doesn't try to get by solely on nostalgia. This is a whole different beast than an April Fools day nostalgia binge.

Since CN and AS are coming to Canada on July 4, I wonder now if Toonami will join them?

So, I wonder which version of TOM we will be getting once Toonami takes to the airwaves? I'm personally hoping to see an all-new TOM 5 instead of a previous version of the host, some of the older versions of TOM are dead and it wouldn't make any sense to bring them back. The only real option would be TOM 4 (yay?) Or an all-new TOM with a redesigned look, but voiced by our good friend (of course).

Its already confirmed its TOM 3. But in "High Definition!", or...TOM 3 spit shined. Muhaha, so he's what? "New TOM 3" or "TOM 3.5" or as such.

TOM4 was obviously just the visions of Spike Spiegal on an acid trip.

Going with the 2010s thing. We should use the same naming convention as iPhones, and call him "new TOM".

I worry a little that the Toonami banner will push even further out of reach some of the more risqué shows like P&S and the new Lupin/Fujko series.
The way it was I didn't have a grreat deal of hope for those two. Now I have just a little less. But who can tell what will happen in these days of miracles.

I'd rather see something new replace Bleach as a lead off.
It's anime more for the anime fan and they might do better with something that can bridge the divide with comedy viewers.
Personally, I started getting really bored with the series mid way through the second arc, which was 90% of the episodes ago.

Uh, did you somehow completely miss the promo pictures??

Even if you glanced at Adult Swim's Twitter for yourself you'd see the TOM they're using, never mind actually visiting the website.

As much as I hate to fuel the senseless One Piece fanboyism that goes on here, it could very well be the best replacement for Bleach as a perennial anchor for the block. Maybe they could give it one last test for, say, thirteen post time skip episodes? If that doesn't work out, just forget about it forever.

Not sure why you'd think that. It's not like the block is going to be targeted at anyone under 18.

But Bleach is the DBZ for AS. It's the show that does well consistently and has that appeal to casual viewers.

Haven't been to Adult Swim's website in years, nor have I visited their Twitter (I don't even follow them). But now after doing some investigation I can see that it will be TOM 3, which is a good choice more than fine for me.

Did anyone just see what FUNimation put on their Facebook?!

Guess "Panty and Stocking" is coming ;)

Well first off those episodes aren't even dubbed, second it's not like post-timeskip One Piece is an entirely new show or anything. The characters are two years older but it's very much the same One Piece. If anything start from Season 4.

I wish Imgur wasn't allowed on this forum until the time is right for a return since it's been unavailable in the UK since last September, so I don't see why people use links from the site for here when it's no longer available in the UK and I'm really angry that their parent company made this stupid decision.
Happy 45th anniversary, MTV.
MeTV Toons is a great channel when it comes to classic cartoons, but we know it can be way better. The Duck4Real (me!) elaborates on this in his latest YouTube vlog. Watch it!

WB has done so well with releasing the Paramount Popeye cartoons on home media that they should be chosen to distribute the long-delayed animated Popeye film that at various points was to be made by Sony and directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (who has a long association with WB sister property Cartoon Network).
