If there's any former Toonami show that had an incomplete run that deserves to air again, it is Yu Yu Hakusho. I'd rather that air than Zatch Bell in a heart beat, and it would be a much better fit for Adult Swim's audience,

What's with all this talk about Zatch Bell? If Young Justice is supposedly aiming too young for Adult Swim, then there's no way that Zatch Bell would fit in. I still remember how annoying its dub music was, and the dialogue would get pretty cringe-worthy as well. I still remember it as the only show where I've seen "gee willickers" used as a serious statement.

Why do you guys read so deeply into every little thing they post? Granted, Toonami has given us little hints in the past, but just because they post a promo doesn't automatically mean they have it...

Quoting both of your posts for the heck of it. I never in the slightest said "They showed a promo, thus they have it!"

Zatch Bell is actually a highly requested show:Toonami Tumblr- What are the top three requested shows?

Its not a sense of picking out every single thing they post on the blog and calling it a "hint". Its more being realistic and thinking about what they have said themselves previously.

I do agree that Zatch Bell would not really fit the block, though the Toonami Crew do work in their own direction than what other fans can feel is "wrong".

Kind of what I was expecting, except I'm surprised they're putting IGPX after Thundercats. But hey, hopefully that won't have too much of an impact.

I'm surprised that they're putting IGPX after Thundercats. I thought that they would put that show after Soul Eater instead. I'm also surprised with pushing Sym-Bionic Titan that late into the block, but it is in its second run and hasn't been doing that great with its ratings, so that does make sense. I could see them pushing Thundercats in a later slot whenever they get another show for the block.

When you consider Eureka 7 and Tenchi Muyo GXP keep their current slots in this schedule shake-up they clearly value having shows in the same slot whenever possible. The why for IGPX airing at 2AM should be obvious. If they gave it 1:30AM on April 27th, they'd end up moving it to 2AM a mere 3 weeks later throwing off anyone expecting it to air 1:30AM.

There's also benefit to Eureka 7 to pair it with something fresh and for 3 weeks ThunderCats will hold that slot just fine.

Actually part of the reason could be they want the mainstream appeal of ThunderCats to bring viewers to IGPX. It probably would do better after Soul Eater but being after ThunderCats for 3 weeks certainly isn't a bad thing. Those earlier episodes did well. If it stays behind ThunderCats and everything shifts down, then it would seem to me though they want IGPX to do well in its' slot they are humble enough to not to play it early in the block where it could put off viewers in those crucial first two hours where drop-offs are likely to occur for lack of interest in the material.

More than likely ThunderCats moves to 3AM after GXP finishes and they keep all the fresh shows back to back.

Whether Soul Eater stays at 1AM or moves to 1:30 will depend on how well it does in the coming weeks and what will start airing when GXP finishes.

Thundercats is in reruns; IGPX is something we haven't seen in years. Why are they giving the show they've just finished the earlier slot?

That all makes sense.

Right now, expansion isn't in the cards. So they need to do some juggling. Tenchi GXP doesn't have a lot left after the 27th so they only need to do some momentary juggling and then the schedule will most likely be stable until E7 comes to a close.

Thundercats is having trouble holding onto its ratings and so is Titan. It makes sense for Titan to get pushed back a lot because it is weakening E7 and Tenchi GXP but Titan is still doing okay for now and it provides some crucial Western Animation influx in the block, and the Toonami crew's made it pretty clear that Western animation they could get their hands on is few and far between and pretty difficult to acquire. Thundercats will likely be moved to 3 AM after GXP exits because TCats is struggling in its reruns but TCats did a really good job in its "premiere" run and I think that earns the show some props.

IGPX premiering at 2 AM pretty much points to Sketch's "stable time slot" theory. This way IGPX doesn't get pushed around the lineup, especially with a fresh show (either One Piece or something else) coming soon after GXP quietly exits from the lineup in late May. It's very likely from FUNimation but who knows what it is, but what it is and how well Soul Eater is doing will dictate whether the new show gets 1 AM or 1:30 AM. Soul Eater started off pretty well but it's been slipping in recent weeks and recent history has proven that the kind of drops Soul Eater is having is not acceptable to the Toonami crew. Soul Eater has only dipped below 900,000 a couple of times but it's been hemorrhaging 250K or so viewers fairly consistently, and who knows how long that will remain tolerable.

Once again, the block is trying to live up to Naruto's example (some weeks, Naruto is even beating Bleach which is pretty damned significant). Some things never change.

One Piece comes to Toonami on May 18th.

It will begin with episode 207 ("Great Adventure At Long Ring Long Land!"). Soul Eater will then move to its new time slot of 1:30am ET.

Good move IMO. One Piece humor is basically character-driven & it doesn't take long to get used to what the crew is like, the plot is straightforward, backstory will be illuminated in time, and this way viewers see Toonami with newer animation and footage that will look good on the HD channel. Hope I'm right that this was the best way to handle it and ratings pay off.

While I understand those who think Toonami is taking too big of a risk starting One Piece off at Season 4, honestly if it manages to still get good ratings it won't matter in the end. I hope that's the case, anyway. Both parties involved (AS/Toonami and FUNi) really had to think hard about this decision. Season 4 is still a fresh place in the story, and it shouldn't be too hard for new viewers to get invested.

That's awesome news. While I can understand why people wanted them to start off at the beginning of One Piece for new viewers, I think that they made the best choice with going for season four. One Piece isn't too difficult to follow along with and they'll be able to cover the backstories for the characters to help bring in new viewers. Hopefully, it will be successful ratings wise. Thundercats being pushed down to 3AM makes sense and it looks like a pretty decent lineup. I still wish that they could have had an expansion before getting One Piece on the block, but it's still possible for them to get the 11PM hour at some point.

Yeah, I figured they'd probably do this, and I'm cool with it for the most part. It'll be great to see Davy Back Fight and Water 7 dubbed, and new viewers shouldn't have too much getting into it, especially since, supposedly, they're going to try air some orientational "catch up" videos for the block. I just hope the show will entice new viewers to check out the rest of the series.

It's pretty awesome to see the Jump Big Three back-to-back on Toonami. It's been a long time coming.
