"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

That arc is without doubt one of the weeker One Piece arcs and also has filler stuffed into it. Seems risky. It's not too long though, and what comes after it is the best of One Piece, so it's probably fine.

Well, I guess we'd better get started with that catching up. I've already started. (1st ep because I'm just starting this series)
200 episodes in a month, eh? Well, you got your work cut out for ya.

Of course, you can shave off some of that time by skipping the filler episodes (Warship Island, Goat Island, Rainbow Mist, etc.) Trust me, you're not missing much.

I just needed to have collected all of the Skypiea arc on DVD, and I'll have been golden. P:

But still, pretty good choice to start One Piece later on in the series, and it's coming earlier than expected, too.
Toonami said "summer", May is still technically spring. :)
Either way, I'm happy.

Also, good to see no one's complaining about there being "too much shonen" on the block now.
Sorry, self-indulge moment there.

While I don't seriously recommend this option, you could technically watch Movie 8 instead of watching the entire Alabasta arc. You would still need to watch Whiskey Peak, Little Garden and Drum, though. Although, you would be missing out on Ace.

That's about where I expected them to start in the series. Since it's the beginning of the 16:9 and HD content, it's probably the best choice for them. It's too bad that Toonami hasn't gotten an extra hour yet, but it's good to see it starting next month, and coming right after Bleach and Naruto. And Soul Eater right after them definitely makes for a solid opening block. I was hoping it would be directly after Bleach, but oh well. Maybe it will move at some point, but I guess consistency may be more important. Obviously getting that extra hour and moving it up would be best, though.

A bit disappointed by the lack of expansion. I guess July 27th to compete with ADHD is the next best opportunity for that.

Bleach was in the big 3 for a time.

For US anime fans it still is.

No argument here at #207. I have yet to watch from when it was left off in 08 to where they'll begin at. I can easily have all those done in time. (except 205 and 206 aren't available to me, and I'm not one for subscriptions)

Going to be a fun first 2 hours alone for Toonami. Looking forward to it!

Episode 207? Time to play catch up online...

I'll jusst say for now that if they want to make this move work they have to really make all of the dub prior to season 4 available on Hulu and FUNimation.com and ONePIeceOfficial.com for free right now. Give adult swim digital rights to those first three seasons while they're at it. Because not all the dub episodes are viewable at the moment. And of course they have to reallly work on their marketing to get those new fans to watch on those venues.

They are free on those sites.

But you can't get all 206 episodes on those sites right now. They're constantly taken on and off.

I know FUNI changes which dub episodes are up at any given time but I'm pretty sure the subbed eps are all up there.

So, after dozens of people telling the Toonami guys on Tumblr that "Hey, TV schedules are listing Thundercats as skipping the first two episodes", and the Toonami guys blowing everyone off like "DON'T TRUST TV SCHEDULES, WE'RE NOT SKIPPING ANYTHING!"...

They skipped the first two episodes anyways. It's the Bebop fiasco all over again.

Yeah, i don't know why they would skip the first two episodes, considering they were two of the best. The only reason I can think of that they would skip them is maybe because they wanted to get straight into the show itself, and not have the first two episodes of characterization and plot get in the way. But even that doesn't make sense, since the first two episodes still had a lot of good action.

Hell, I'm going in circles. That's all I got on it.
