I certainly would not mind seeing G Gundam back on the block, even tho I own the entire thing on DVD. To this day it is my favorite Gundam series, tho to be fair I haven't seen that many in full, but a lot of the political stuff from some of the older series didn't really drag me in from what I saw. I seem to enjoy AU Gundams more than UC on average. Granted, I need to really sit down and actually WATCH a lot of them in full including, sadly, Wing. I loved it, cheese and all, and frankly I think the dub only helps my experiance even tho I haven't really looked at much of the sub. It's also part of one of my favorite Toonami Line-ups (G Gundam, DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Kenshin) 4 really awesome shows..

I think that a Gundam title, old or new, is a shoe-in for Toonami and that's it's just a matter of time before one shows up.

Gundam Wings I think will come before other older Gundam shows. Comparing the price of getting it with that of Dragon Ball Z is silly to say the least and at the end of the day, it will be nowhere as expensive to get Gundam Wings then to get Dragon Ball Z. Plus it's the only older show Jason DeMarco has stated he's considering so far, which gives it an edge over other older shows. I would not be surprised to see it be one of the first few older shows that returns to the block just for that. That's not to say Gundam G or other Gundam's won't get in, though.

Toonami Nostalgia

Found this article about Toonami nostalgia ( http://awe-someanime.blogspot.com/p/home.html ). Brought me back to my middle school days of Toonami glory. I hope the new Toonami keeps what made the old version so amazing.

Maybe if Jason DeMarco really wants it. I honestly expect newer titles than older ones. If they really want Gundam back, they could potentially show Gundam 00, since that had never aired on Toonami before.

It depends on how cheap the older titles are and whether they would be viable ratings-wise. There's probably only a few titles capable of pulling it off. Outlaw Star, Trigun (not a Toonami show but it did run on AFD), Yuyu Hakusho, Gundam Wing, and G Gundam are probably the "Golden Five" that could still manage to pull down some ratings even in a late slot.

I'd much prefer newer stuff but a lot of the new stuff is expensive. FUNimation will likely cut AS a deal if they need to, FUNimation again isn't stupid and they know they need Toonami and AS more than the other way around. But Viz basically gave AS/Toonami the finger and Sentai Filmworks has never been able to get stuff on TV even back when they were ADV. I'm expecting Sentai to align with Viz more than Sentai taking advantage of the void Viz is going to leave.

Bandai Entertainment is a dying company that will steadily lose their licenses as the years go by until it vanishes from existence. Media Blasters hardly exists anymore either. I don't see either company being capable of providing content for AS to run, though Bandai might be able to negotiate still. Then there's Aniplex as the wild card. Who knows what those guys are up to but I'd be shocked if they're not trying to get Blue Exorcist or Fate/ZERO on the air.

But the Neon Alley thing definitely makes Toonami's future a "FUNimation + Bleach" block, or so it seems.

According to Zap2it, Mnet will no longer air Outlaw Star starting July 6th, instead airing 2 full hours of My-HiME for their anime block. Could this mean that their license for Outlaw Star has expired and/or that it has been picked up by Toonami?

Off-topic, but I just noticed something; on Mnet's site, they have both Outlaw Star and My-HiME listed as children's shows. xD

Anyways, that certainly is interesting, but one thing worries me; if they do air it, will they air it uncut or still use their old edited versions?

DeMarco basically promised any old/new shows would air as uncut as possible if they were aired today. So basically I imagine if Tenchi aired again we would not get digikinis, we just might get blurred out **** when needed, or whatever. Part of me wonders if they actually have to censor nipple-less ****, as I seem to recall many Ryoko bath scenes having, tho maybe that was an edit, who knows

No, not really. I was attacked by a nest of them once. It did not end well.

Anyway, I'm hearing that Blue Exorcist got a dub . . . and that it is Neon Alley-bound. Doesn't guarantee that Fate/ZERO won't be joining it but I'm thinking Aniplex opted to throw in with Viz. Toonami really is becoming "FUNimation + Bleach".

EDIT: FLCL, as I expected, is going to be a stopgap for six more weeks while Toonami gets its act together. We'll see what happens next.

Somehow I knew we'd get at least a run of FLCL in before the rights expire. I kinda want to see Toonami stuff for it anyway so *shrug*

FLCL's rights will never expire, like Cowboy Bebop's. Williams Street seems pretty determined to keep FLCL around forever.

Bandai you had best remember who made you a success.

As for the theory on Outlaw Star... I don't think they'll buy anything fresh for 2AM. It doesn't make much sense to do that when they could air something fresh earlier and should do exactly that.

I see 2AM/5AM being "what remains of ASA reruns" for the time being until they finish airing a show that's not regularly TV-MA. And those nut jobs over at Williams Street might actually keep Cowboy Bebop on for another run simply because they can. They could certainly cycle in The Big O and possibly Durarara (though that's ratings suicide I would think) and assuming Viz doesn't nab it, there's still reruns of InuYasha for 2:30/5:30AM.

If they got Outlaw Star it would likely be aired at 12:30 or 1AM when Deadman Wonderland finishes depending on if they see fit to give Casshern 12:30.

I'm not ruling out Outlaw Star for 2AM but I would think they'd use their money more wisely than that even if pairing OS with Bebop would be epic.

Yep. Posted a source for that in the Neon Alley thread over at anime. Neon Alley is best thought of as a counterpart & competitor to FUNimation's elite service and Netflix, not something in conflict with traditional TV or Toonami.

I haven't seen any episode of FLCL. I've never had much motivation to check it out, but since it's coming up on the linup and I'm still awake at that time, I might check it out. From what I've seen and heard about it, it might be a bit too randomness for my tastes, but I could try it out at least the first couple of episodes.

That's good news. While the Neon Alley sounds like an interesting feature to showcase some of their new shows, I don't think that it would prevent those shows from also airing on Toonami somewhere down the line, especially when airing a series on TV would give it much more exposure than streaming it through a game system. Some of the new shows that Viz Media is planning to put through Neon Alley might be too much for Toonami's budget right now, but since they already air Bleach, they could possibly air one of their new shows after either Deadman Wonderland or Casshern Sins finishes airing if Viz is willing to work with them on the price issue. If not, I could see them making a deal for Outlaw Star like you mentioned.
