At the rate they're shaking things up, I wouldn't be surprised if Tenchi and Samurai 7 switch place at the last minute if Tenchi has another bad week.

This is so much fun, predicting and all. It's just like the old days! I'm so glad stagnant ASA is gone for good.

Switching those two shows around would probably be a good move, especially when Samurai 7 has actually been doing pretty well for itself for awhile. I agree that the predicting is kind of fun in a way.

Here's hoping the new show can grab in the Bleach audience. I'm getting the vibe that pushing Samurai 7 and Eureka Seven down those slots will not be a wise move at the end of the day though..

I would have personally put Samurai 7 on at 1am, Eureka 7 at 2am and GXP holding down the late 3am slot.

I'm not sure about Eureka Seven since I don't think it's been doing that well compared to some of the other shows on the lineup, but I don't think that putting a new show that has been doing relatively well like Samurai 7 is the best choice to make. Though, I think part of the reason the ratings for the show were doing so well was because it came on right after Bleach, but it still was doing better for the past few weeks on that slot. GXP at 3AM would have worked for me.

I'm kinda surprised that they're going to be airing Thundercats before Samurai 7. Does it do that well in ratings?

I don't think that it does. Thundercats has been doing pretty well, especially for the time slot it was in originally, but I didn't think it was outperforming Samurai 7. Though, Samurai 7 airs earlier and right after Bleach, so that does give it an edge.

Yeah, I think Eureka Seven will be fine at 3AM. If people wanted to see it, they can always find it on Hulu, Crunchyroll, or even buy the DVDs. It doesn't seem to do well as the other shows, like you mentioned.

If it were up to me, I'd put Samurai 7 at 1:30 AM before Thundercats, or leave it at 1:00AM. GXP can take the 1:30 AM slot or move down to 2AM. I wouldn't want the show at 3AM because it's in premieres for the network, and it probably would perform better than Eureka Seven and the other reruns.

DeMarco says the schedule page lies. So I'm really hoping they're not bumping Samurai 7 to 2. Seems cruel to change the timeslot twice in one month especially since it was doing very well up until this past week's timeslot change (and it'll hopefully recover in the next few weeks, especially if they finally get around to making a promo for it now that it's entering the real action-heavy part of the story, but moving it to 2 AM would probably really hurt it).

And for a movie night, am I the only one who really DOESN'T want them airing Summer Wars? I LOVE Summer Wars, but it's a family movie and deserves proper exposure for its target demographic it wouldn't get on Adult Swim. There's many other options (Redline, the EVA movies, Trigun Badlands, etc.) that would be more demographic appropriate for Adult Swim.

While I wouldn't mind another new show joining the lineup, I would be fine if the schedule was completely inaccurate since I wouldn't like Samurai 7 moving to the 2AM slot either. It just seems too late in the block for a new show that has been doing well. As for the movies, I wouldn't mind Summer Wars airing, even though it does look and sound more like a family movie than something that would fit Toonami's demographic. Trigun Bandlands would be a nice choice though. I haven't seen the movie, but I watched the Trigun series and it might be fun.

I know the Toonami Tumblr says not to trust the schedule, but unless they've gone to the point of writing stuff there just to screw with our minds, I'd say it means that it's not final.


I'm really glad they're getting something new, that'll definitely help when Bleach is in reruns. They still need to carefully decide which Bleach episodes they air. Perhaps if they're clever they can get more fans that way.


I hear a lot about moving Tenchi even longer back. Seriously, give the show a chance please, it aired for one week. It's not like Samurai 7 looked good when that premiered. After Casshern Sins had aired its first episode, I really didn't like the show, but i ended up enjoying it a whole lot. I'd say that keeping Tenchi at 1 is the right choice for now.


ThunderCats did Samurai 7 last week, but it wasn't by that much, so I'm sure how good an idea it is to bump Samurai 7 all the way to 2. Although ThunderCats might be doing really well in the 18-49 group. That would explain sole stuff. Sym-Bionic Titan at 2:30 is fine really. Mixing the cartoons and the anime is nice.


I'm personally a little sad about Eureka 7 being pushed this far back, although looking at the six shows before they really have no choice. I've been enjoying it a damn lot recently. It keeps getting better and better.


It's nice that they're already starting it break the double hours, but it really makes no sense both episode and ratings wise to have an hour of Cowboy Bebop but just half an hour of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. So obviously they should do the opposite. Play Brotherhood for an hour at 3:30 and have Bebop play half an hour at 4:30. InuYasha can keep a whole hour for now.

The first episodes for the other series were generally okay and made me interested in seeing how the storyline progressed. With GXP, I wondered what the heck I saw after finishing the first episode. The comedy was bad, the storyline didn't seem interesting and none of the characters appealed to me at all. It could get better and that's one reason why I'm still going to watch the first few episodes, but I honestly wouldn't mind if it was put on later on the block. Putting it at 2AM would make a lot more sense than putting Samurai 7 on that timeslot.

Samurai 7 being right after Bleach probably helped it out in the last couple of weeks, but it also has developed an audience since it didn't get grand ratings when it first premiered just because it came on after Bleach. I don't know how much potential GXP actually has, especially when it doesn't even feel like it should be on Toonami, but I just wouldn't mind it being on 2AM slot, even though putting actual premieres earlier would make more sense. I'd much rather have GXP at 2AM than Samurai 7 at least. I'm hoping that the next few episodes are better, but considering most of the reactions here for the show are negative and the running gag of Senia's bad luck, one of the more annoying aspects of the first episode, is going to be part of the whole series, if making it the focus for the ending theme is any indication, I have my doubts that it's going to get much better.

I think it did get better ratings during the second half of the series, but it is interesting that they said that the series did just fine overall. I thought that it didn't do that well, but at least it seemed to do fine for the people in charge of the block.

Guessing their standards are lowered a lot. I guess if it consistently managed over 300,000 18-34 viewers it's considered "fine", especially for these one-airing-only licenses. It probably boosted DVD sales too, which must have pleased FUNi.

Makes sense. They finished airing the original series all the way back in 2006, and it wasn't worth renewing the rights to it when they got Brotherhood.
