"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Looks like One Piece won't be going double episodes at all.

Toonami

It would have been nice for them to entertain the possibility for the future, but that sure makes it clear that there's no chance right now. If it can happen eventually (or better yet, if Toonami can get some weeknights eventually), I'd still like them to start at the beginning, but since there's no telling when that could happen, I guess Season Four is looking a little more appealing...

It's nice to hear that they'll be able to air IGPX again. I only remember catching a few episodes near the end, but I kind of liked it and I'd be willing to check it out from the start, depending on when it airs on the lineup.

I can see them airing IGPX at 1:30 AM and moving everything down since Thundercats will be over by then. I wonder if they're planning to get another show after GXP ends though.

There's really nothing they can't do is there? I'll happily watch IGPX on the block. As much as I love Bebop, I don't mind one less slot of it a week to watch IGPX. Also, even though they that about Megas XLR, I find it possible seeing as this was possible. Nice to have the date for TOM 5 and the new Absolution revealed.

It also sounds like they're heavily hinting that we'll learn about One Piece in April.

On one hand it's really cool that they were able to get IGPX back and I'm looking forward to seeing episodes I missed on its first run.

On the other hand this news makes the block feel even more some bizarro-2006 line-up and I don't want whatever new show they have lined up to replace GXP to be buried beneath a bunch of old stuff. Expansion's more necessary than ever now.

Yeah, it sounds like, while it probably won't start airing at that point like they were apparently considering, they'll probably have at least something of a time frame for us by the time they give the block its makeover.

I really don't think they'd put IGPX ahead of a new show, so whatever replaced GXP will be 1:30 or earlier. Though that's still pretty late. If it's not One Piece, but another show, that means we'd have 5 premieres on the block and it's really a shame to have any of Bleach/Naruto/Soul Eater/One Piece/GXP's replacement that late on the block, so I do agree the expansion is starting to be very much needed now.

I could see IGPX being put in one of three places:

*between Sym-Bionic Titan and Eureka Seven
*between Tenchi Muyo! GXP and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
*between Eureka Seven and Tenchi Muyo! GXP

Can't say I'm thrilled about IGPX coming back. I watched the entire run of the show, and I found it remarkably boring.

And I guess we probably won't be getting One Piece till at least May. Them's the brakes.

Huh. I'm surprised they were able to get IPGX back and impressed they went out of their way to do so. This was actually one I largely missed, and I regretted it when the DVDs became impossible to find...definitely will be watching.

Impossible, huh? I still have my IGPX sample disc from when they put it in magazines....it has the first episode. I wonder if it's worth something now.

I was a fan of IGPX when it aired. I'll for one watch it again. Would be beneficial to replace 1 Bebop whether with that or something else moved down. 11shows instead of 10 look nicer.

Regarding One Piece, interesting choice of words with 'one per night' instead of saying 'one per week' (just saying)

I'll gladly watch IGPX again. But come on let's get some new things in here already.

IGPX? ...On TV again? This news just made my day. IGPX is one of my favorite shows. Heh, I still remember when it got moved to midnights on Friday (or sometime around there).

Can't wait to watch it again! I bet it'd look pretty good broadcasted in HD widescreen.

Edit: Yep, Fridays at midnight.

Another Bandai show recovered! Nice work!

Blue Sub 6 is coming back to DVD, and now this? What voodoo are they using to get these things?

I'm absolutely positive they meant for it to be synonymous, but I'd love for what you're implying to come true.

So would I. But I don't see it happening.

IGPX coming back is a welcome development. It's not my favorite series ever, and I found it a little bland in spots, but the show is absolutely cutting-edge in terms of visuals. Just a beautifully-animated show start to finish.

We're not in a bizarro-2006 lineup yet, though, Soul Eater kinda single-handedly prevents that. But if Samurai 7 was still running . . . yeah, we'd be in that territory.

IGPX, awesome! I never got to see that show, and I'll finally have my chance!

Oh? It looks like they haven't found a way to get back Megas XLR...........yet. Source:Toonami
