Star Wars: TCW will be replacing Eureka 7.

On August 17th, Eureka 7 will be going away, never to return. We’ll be sorry to see it go. Replacing it will be STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS, which we’re very happy about because we always felt it was a Toonami show. FYI: We’ll be skipping some of the non-continuity (read: Jar Jar) eps, but they’ll generally run in order. AMERICAN CARTOONS BELONG ON TOONAMI

Glad to see they hate Jar Jar as much as the rest of us.

In all honesty, though, that is a little disappointing, as I myself was hoping for a run of FLCL.

Some clarification on the decision to remove "filler" from Clone Wars and not anime.

Anonymous Asked: Is there any sort of difference between skipping filler for Clone Wars and varying anime series with extended blocks of filler episodes? It just seems odd given your previous stance on every episode being of value.

With Clone Wars, we just feel there are some clear points that aren’t necessary and might be a little too kiddy to show. We may even eventually air those episodes, but not for a while. Moreover, these are episodes that have already aired on CN many times, unlike, say, Bleach premieres. “Filler" (as in, a tv based arc that varies from the story of a manga) is a totally different thing. If we had NEW PREMIERE Clone Wars eps, we wouldn’t skip a one!

Well now. The Star Wars Clone Wars situation is very good for Toonami, though also yet another oddball (mis)handling by a Cartoon Network that is much too quick to drop things. You'd think they'd get all possible mileage out of Clone Wars and the Star Wars franchise while they still could, but nope. Once again the network finishes an action show - an evergreen, clearly successful title for them this time, mind you - and then all but forget it had existed. Anyone comfortable betting anything of value that Disney XD will ever relegate the only Star Wars Rebels reruns to 1:30 AM?

Well, for a year and some change the force is "only Toonami". Let's enjoy that while it lasts, I suppose.

Still think it's worth trying to air Bebop-esque shows even if they're not as genre-defining as Bebop. Not doing so would be like saying it's not worth releasing gangster movies because they're not going to be as great and significant as The Godfather.

I thought the rights for The Clone Wars went to Disney after they bought Lucasfilm. It turns out CN still had them and just took the show off the air after they aired the last new episode they had. Typical CN treatment of any action show that isn't Ben 10.

If AS airs some of the later seasons I can see them getting decent ratings, but if they start all the way back at season 1, the ratings will probably be bad.

They said they'll be airing all the episodes in order (barring the filler/too kiddie episodes).

Also since no one mentioned it, no Clone Wars is not the fabled mystery show.

-Star Wars: The Clone Wars will replace Eureka 7
-They's working on a little something with One Piece
-They'll be skipping filler of Clone Wars unlike the premiere shows.
-Evangelion 2.22 You can NOT advance will air on August 31st along with a special little goodie.
-Wii U games reviews might be possible now as they might do Pikmin 3.
-Clone Wars is also not the infamous mystery show.
-Clone Wars is practically free.

Interested in seeing what the goodie coming with 2.22 is.

I remember Toonami's Pikmin review from back then, will be interesting to see this one.

I really thought Disney had full control of Star Wars. Practically free doesn't sound "free" though. As if they worked a deal with Disney, but I may be way off with that. Oh well, it's still a very interesting addition! I'll be watching it this time.

Some other things from the Q&A to note:

- They're looking at Eureka Seven: AO.
- It's unlikely that Sword Art Online will be moved up, unless it’s ratings grow so large it makes sense to put it in front of one of the earlier shows.
- The Toonami staff are happy with the ratings, but it's not enough to warrant an expansion.
- They're looking at replacements for Soul Eater and Sword Art Online.
- It's unlikely they'll be doing a promo for the final episode of Eureka Seven, like they did with Samurai 7.
- They might get remastered tapes for Cowboy Bebop.
- They said that Eureka Seven did "just fine" in ratings.
- Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Bleach, and Gundam Wing are Toonami's most successful shows ever.
- It's unlikely they'll be acquiring Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.
- Star Wars: The Clone Wars is practically free for them to air, like Sym-Bionic Titan and Thundercats.
- They have plans to more of the Absolution.
- They won't be skipping any episodes of Naruto.
- New schedule will be announced in a week or two. (I'm assuming they'll move IGPX to 3AM to put Star Wars: The Clone Wars at 2:30 AM.)

Once again, Toonami adds a show I didn't even predict or expect to be on the block. Though the funny thing is, while I had a feeling the next show might likely be American animated show and since consistency is key for ratings, I honestly figured that maybe they now have Young justice to air since that's 52 episodes I think? But in a way, this is even better! I actually really liked the Clone Wars TV series, not that I didn't like the microseries too. So now people better be paying attention to this show because this show didn't get as much love as it should. I certainly didn't see much discussion around this forum.

Though this does bring up another thing. What is up with networks like Cartoon Network, Disney XD and Nickelodeon treating much of their shows the way they do? They'll promote the hell out of a certain show for the first month or two it premieres, then either they do something weird and sudden with the show such as give it a long-ass hiatus mid-season, or just randomly shift it from one time of the week to a completely different time of the week. And if it doesn't do well, it's because there was no merchandise or the merchandise didn't sell well or it didn't do as well in ratings or it was too expensive to produce. And even if it is very successful for a few years, once it's cancelled or finished for whatever the reason, these networks just sweep these shows under the rug. They don't air them again, they remove their existence from their website, on-demand, etc., not even announcing a brief send-off. Even Toonami had the decency to do that every once in a while. So I can only assume they disowned a show, and move on to the next thing when apparently they had these titles the whole time and are just............. I-I don't get it.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a great pick up for Toonami! They always surprise me with their choices, I'm impressed. And another good move is to skip the slower/jar jar episodes which could be a bit trying to watch at 3 am or whenever they decide to air it.

I wasn't expecting Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It is good that they could get another western cartoon on the line, especially after losing the rights to Thundercats, and since it's practically free, it probably helps with their budget, even if it does cost them a bit of money. Though, I'm not too excited over it when I never cared that much for Star Wars. I'm surprised that it was still under Cartoon Network's rights instead of Disney, but they probably had to work out something with them too. Personally, I'm hoping that it won't take IGPX's slot at least until after it finishes its first run. It would be nice to go to sleep a bit earlier, instead of waiting another half hour to watch IGPX. Still, it's a good choice to help boost ratings.

Another movie night sounds pretty cool. I did enjoy the last one, so I'll probably check out the next Evangelion movie too. I'd be surprised if they weren't considering Eureka 7 AO. I don't know if Eureka 7 has done better in its run on Toonami than its run on Adult Swim, but I don't have ratings to compare. I am curious about what this mystery show could be if it wasn't Star Wars The Clone Wars.

They're putting a complete set of Clone Wars on Blu-Ray and I haven't seen a single episode, so I thought "I wonder how that is." This is the perfect way to find out, so....thanks, TOM.
