I'd like it if they ever got the original FMA. It may be different from Brotherhood, but it still has merits, and a history on the block. Plus, I bet most folks have largely forgotten what it was like in detail.

I wouldn't completely rule out the original FMA airing at some point, as a special "tenth anniversary" type of deal. It did premiere on Adult Swim in November 2004, after all.

I actually like it more than the manga/Brotherhood. It's a beautiful, gripping retelling of the story.

That is a good question, especially when the chances of a promo for Samurai Jack aren't that good. I'd imagine that they wanted to get another western cartoon on the lineup for a bit of diversity, but putting it at 4AM kind of weakens that reasoning. Putting it after Naruto at 3AM would at least make a bit more sense.

I'd like to see the original FMA series if only because I haven't seen all of it. Plus, it would give Brotherhood a break and many people who watch Toonami might not have seen the original FMA series before, or at least not for a long time. They might be more interested in getting new shows instead, but getting the original FMA series would be pretty cool.

All of the original FMA is on Netflix (unlike Brotherhood, which isn't fully complete on the site yet). I had a lot of disdain for the show after seeing Brotherhood just for the sheer idiocy of the second half of the original. I may have to give it another go though given that I did enjoy the movie when it aired a few weeks back.

I'd prefer Toonami look to new acquisitions before re-airing something like the original FMA, which is available online for free or a monthly fee in some capacity (I'm ruling out any people complaining of region restrictions given that they wouldn't be able to watch Toonami legally to begin with).

I don't have Netflix and I'd prefer to watch the dub, although I could try a free trial for a month to watch it on Netflix. New acquisitions should definitely be more of a priority just so that they have more new material to work with, but I wouldn't mind if they did go for something like the original FMA either.

FMA Brotherhood started airing on Adult Swim in 2010.
In 2012 when Toonami was brought back, the press release stated that FMAB was renewed.
Assuming that it will be up for renewal again in 2014: if AS does renew it again I really hope they get it in HD this time.

It's just another cost-free show for them to air. Though, it would still have been nice to get it at 3am since it hasn't aired regularly on the network since 2008.

I wouldn't be against FMA returning to Toonami if they just exchanged the rights for FMAB for it without additional costs, but at the same time, I doubt this will ever happen. They are focusing on acquiring new content, and getting the original FMA back would still cost money that could be used to acquire a new, never-aired show.

Shorts TV is a very obscure network only found on DirectTV and AT&T U-verse. It shows a number of FUNimation anime, so I wouldn't be surprised if FMA has shown up there from time to time..

ShortsHD rotates through numerous FUNimation anime, including FMA, D. Gray-Man, Aquarion, Sands of Destruction, Ghost Hunt, Black Butler, and Kenichi (I may have missed one or two). They're practically as obscure as the FUNimation Channel, so I wouldn't place a ShortsHD broadcast as a barrier to getting a show on Toonami. Case in point, Casshern Sins and Samurai 7 were both airing on FUNimation Channel and Toonami at the same time.

tl;dr if Toonami wants to air the original FMA, ShortsHD won't stop them.

I think the reason why Samurai Jack is occupying 4 AM isn't just because it's a freebie, but it basically sets up a family-friendly final two hours of the block. Samurai Jack, IGPX, Star Wars, and Inuyasha aren't exactly the epitome of edgy.

I really wouldn't want want the original FMA on the block, there is so much other stuff they could spend their money on. Also, I think Brotherhood is a lot better. The second half of the original series, while being some of the best filler around, is still not all that good in my opinion. I heavily prefer Brotherhood.

I also prefer Brotherhood, and own the original FMA on 13 separate DVD (oy), long before the announcement of BH. While I'll still watch the original sometime, I like the presence of other characters in BH.

Personally, I wouldn't care if they did bring it back. Likely would watch it, but at least it'd give those who do love it or haven't seen it a reason to watch. On the flip side, would be great to get more action programming not seen on [as]

There's probably a lot who don't, but the man is helping keep Toonami alive. Without him, we're probably discussing ASA still, and only getting 1-2 new animes a year.
