"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

What I'm hoping is that we'll get those DTV DC movies.

Yeah, that would be really nice to see. Only 4 out of (currently) 19 of those films have aired on television, so there's plenty of good films in there that would be world television premieres.

I wouldn't mind seeing them air some of the DC direct to DVD movies. There are plenty that they could air and it would be kind of cool to see them air during a month of movies.

Wow. It seems we're getting some new American action cartoons to air on Toonami! This really feels like good things for this action block... and hey, maybe we'll be seeing some DC shows premiering on Toonami first sometime in the future, eh?

The difference is Attack on Titan #1 has been in the NYT top 10 for Manga sales every week since week 5 of its run last June (including being in the #1 slot four times) after falling out briefly in week four. That's a feat no Shonen Jump title has ever and probably will ever match.

It's amazing, but again, still within the domain of manga.
And....the two are intrinsically related?

You may as well ask if it made sense to make high-budget blockbuster films out of the Harry Potter books.

I love Batman, but really stay on Cartoon Network, if you can't make it there, stay off the network and don't take valuable anime time.

What? The 30th rerun of GitS:SAC?

I think we can manage.

The block still has plenty of anime time and having another western animated series on the lineup is still a good thing, if only to provide a bit of diversity. Besides that, if the choice was for the series to remain off the air, as Cartoon Network proper wasn't interested in giving the series a chance, and for it to air on Toonami, airing on Toonami was clearly the best choice. Plus, airing Beware the Batman could easily lead to Toonami airing other DC series and/or movies, which would be good for the block's future. Considering that Toonami is still airing anime for almost their entire lineup, complaining about one show taking up valuable anime time just comes off as ridiculous to me. Not to mention Ghost in the Shell has been on and off the air for years. It's a bummer for those who started watching the series through Toonami, but it's really not going to hurt taking off a rerun in favor of a show that was treated so poorly by Cartoon Network and hasn't even aired all of its episodes yet.

Yeah, it's a good thing they got Beware the Batman, but it's a afhente that GitS has to be the dust when 2nd GiG still hasn't aired on Toonami. At least we know the rights won't expire.

Yes, it has. 2nd GIG goes as far back as the first schedules for the revived Toonami.

I meant a full run. It has only aired the last I think 12 episodes of it, so the first half of 2nd GiG hasn't aired on Toonami yet.

Yeah but Toonami finished the run that ASA had going at the time. Regardless, it will be back eventually.

I know, but people watching it on Toonami first time didn't get it too good. You're right that it's coming back. Hopefully it'll not stay over but start from season 2 when the time comes.

Since Toonami has a new logo, I think someone should update the banner.

So are we going to do this, or...?

I'm more bothered by the way the framing of the comedy side looks with slicing the Robot Chicken box in half to fit in Rick. Maybe split things up more.

Rep these shows

Venture Bros.
The Boondocks
Robot Chicken
China, IL
Rick & Morty
Superjail

Space Dandy
Attack on Titan
One Piece
Black Lagoon
Samurai Jack

And keep TOM

hmm, i'll give attack of titan a try when it premieres soon.

Never seen it before, i just hope it'll be worth my time. I was all excited and hyped up the first time the toonami commericial promos first aired for Blue Exorcist, cause it seemed to look really awesome and all... well the promo sure made it seem like it was.

but it's just been nothing but complete nonsense (at least to me in my honest opinion) after the first 2 episodes and i lost all intrest with there being next to zero action and such..in every episode since so far.

I hope Attack of Titan will give me some hope

The only shows i care about currently on the lineup (that im fully invested in) are Bleach, and black lagoon...

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
