So everyone heard about this, so would you guys prefer this or Fairy Tail because I prefer DBZ

I'd much rather have Fairy Tail myself. While it's nothing outstanding, I do enjoy it, at least most of the episodes that I've seen so far, and I certainly don't think it's as bad as some of the other people here do. Plus, at least it would be new. DBZ Kai is just a shortened version of the already overplayed and overexposed DBZ series. Even at that shorter amount of episodes, it's still going to at least take over two years to cover it, depending on how long the Buu saga will last. Fairy Tail would be much longer, but I think that the fact that it would be new and isn't nearly as overexposed as DBZ would still make that the better alternative. It will be uncut, but I don't think that's really worthwhile given how it has been on the air for the last few years as it is. Not to mention new DVDs are released every so often.

I had speculated that the endless DBZ requesting would eventually get Kai on. Seems like it would. I wonder if this means the original DBZ will stop being the most requested show.

Cool that they got Bebop back and eventually in HD. I liked seeing that in the end of the block. The American cartoons will run out eventually and they're loosing the original Naruto at the end of the year.

While neither are particularly new or surprising, Dragon Ball Z Kai and the return of Cowboy Bebop in HD are pretty much the big missing pieces that the Toonami of Adult Swim needed to be complete. We're in a good place.

I had hoped they would have at least waited to see the ratings for Cooler's Revenge before picking up anything else DBZ related.
I'm going to laugh so hard if all the people who were demanding DBZ don't bother showing up to watch it.

Oh well, at least Kai airing once a week is still watchable. Old non-Kai DBZ with all its filler and padding would not work very well airing one episode per week.

Anyway... starting over, Kai is an interesting pickup. Yes, DBZ was overplayed in the past, though was Toonami's backbone, but I don't see too much problem with them airing this. Takao is right that Kai isn't what those fans knew, but in today's Toonami age, this is the right pick. Like others have pointed, the pacing is too slow including filler, so this one gets the job done and eventually off quicker, ending complaints. For now, when it does air, I think it'll be a nice welcome. We'll find out how well it holds up. While I also agree that it could/should air later, I doubt that happens - not with a pickup like this in what'll be its first run. No later than 2am do I see it being placed. Easy steps if you don't want to watch it, is simply do something else until the next show comes on

Bebop returning to me is always a good thing. Like DBZ is the past, this show is overplayed and played a million times, but I welcome it to its 1,000,001st round of excitement. Hoping they'll have new tapes ready by then.

I don't think that the lineup needs another Dragon Ball series, even if it was in the later hours of the block.

I knew it. That goes way out on the extreme with its nudity, and I doubt aniplex or toonami would want to pony up money for digital edits.

Not to mention they have the whole "we don't want anything older than Cowboy Bebop" agenda going, and DBZ predates CB by about nine years. Even if Viacom/Nicktoons didn't have GT, it predates Bebop by two years.

Here I thought they had all of AOT - that explains Episode 1's title being seen in July, though I'd of imagined "S2" starting at #14. Whatever the case, you'd have to imagine them picking it up, at least going by strong numbers each episode.

I'd be up for Death Note re-airing [late]. One of the very fewest animes to actually make me want to forget about anything else as it kept me glued and managed all 37 as they premiered without delay. Wouldn't do that anymore knowing what happens but all the events of knowing what happens would still have me glued and maybe tingly...

Sad about the delay of the comic, but I can understand with the funding issue. Just gives us a highlight to the 2015 year.

I have to wonder in the shows they're looking at, Sailor Moon mostly, if its the 'new' one. Given how 159 of the original 200 has aired, I personally wouldn't see a point in re-airing it, even with it's new dub on the horizon (but would welcome it). As we know, the new one will only show 1 premier every other week (for one year). If anything, they could present any of the movies whether they get the series or not. I for one would welcome the series, as it'd give us an action series with girls that'd be a nice change for this Toonami.

If they could get the original Sailor Moon on Toonami for all 200 episodes, I'd say skip Fairy Tail, as for me, I'd highly favor SM over FT though I like FT and watch the dubs when they become free to watch on FUNi.com. I'm not a subs fan so I'm basically skipping VIZ adding them.

Just to bring this unfunny joke back again - Toonami themselves could easily evade the nudity by putting TOM's face over the parts that would need censoring. Think of the fun we'd have with that...

To be honest, I knew that before they would have Cooler's Revenge.. they would plan on air DBZ again (as much as that show's overplayed to some). But I didn't expect it would be Kai though. All aside though, i'll still give it a watch (despite being on Vortexx).

On other tidbits (and going on them by short thoughts), I'm glad they're looking upon both Kill La Kill (I was quite curious upon the show, though seeing upon their problem.. hopefully it'll be managed) and Sailor Moon. Death Note sort of feels like a "meh" choice to me, but I guess it's fine if they're considering it. I'm not too surprised they're bringing back Cowboy Bebop again.. it's basically their staple. But seeing it in HD is rather nice to know.

I'm surprised that they're considering Attack on Titan upon S2, so I guess it's neat. I'm looking foward upon the Toonami comic (if possible), and of course the Intruder 2 next year. Overall, pretty decent stuff about what's to come.

Death Note? Not a bad show, but also not quite a fitting choice for an action block...

Why aren't they looking into Durarara!! instead? It actually has action and a second season is on the way.

I'm glad to see that they are considering airing Sailor Moon. I'm not sure which one they're referring to, but given that the original series is too old for them, I guess that they're referring to Crystal. I wouldn't mind if they did air the redub of the original Sailor Moon though. While it did air on the original Toonami, it was with a poor dub and episodes skipped and spliced together. Plus, it isn't as overexposed as something like DBZ is, so airing it wouldn't be annoying. Crystal would take longer to get a dub given its bi-weekly release. If they do get the redub of the original series, I also agree that they should just skip Fairy Tail. I like Fairy Tail, but the original Sailor Moon series would be a better choice, assuming that being older than Cowboy Bebop wouldn't be an issue here.

I'm sure that they'll air season two of Attack on Titan. The ratings are already pretty solid and the show is so popular that getting the next season is practically a guarantee.

Death Note is a really odd choice though. I've never seen it, but airing it again on the later slots might be good. In terms of series that have already aired on Adult Swim, I would prefer Durarara or Code Geass, Durarara actually has some action to make it a better fit on Toonami and there is a second season that they could possibly air once Aniplex dubs it. As for Code Geass, I've been wanting to check out the series for awhile, although I remember seeing a couple of episodes on Adult Swim before, but I think that could work for the block.

DBZ Kai is from 2009 or so, so it still holds true.

But Kai's just a reedit of a show from 1989. No matter what Toei does, its still going to look 25+ years old.
