Akame ga Kill, for those who don't know, is a violent Shonen where 90% of the characters are hardcore assassins. I know a lot of people who thought it was too dark.

I prefer the manga personally because it's better but about it being dark I prefer it that way, it's a nice change from the usual Fairy Tail-esque type shounen that seems to be predominant right now(looking at you Toriko) and the gritty realism is a plus

Wow, two new shows, one that hasn't been picked up in all these years of people saying "Hey it's got a Cowboy Bebop connection" and finally one from Sentai. Quite the announcement; always nice to see things going well enough for big stuff like this, although with those Kai ratings I'm not surprised. Now that Sentai shows are a thing, they better get Parasyte on there when the time comes.

Also think of Akame Ga kill if you combine AOT, Netflix Daredevil and Hotline Miami, take away anything that made them good and smart and throw in some crappy world building and you get Akame Ga Kill

And that too,culture and race mixing is a thing. Sure, the show plays this extremely unrealistically but that's a thing too. And Im not saying this to defend the show, but its kind of weird people dont realize stuff like this does happen.

AGK is absolute trash. I couldn't get past the first episode with it's predictable twists and turns.

M&H is a better pick up. I may watch it again. I thought it was watchable, and the OP is good. I liked the dub too.

Here's the actual intro for Akame ga Kill!. There is a second intro but it would spoil the first half of the show..

Michiko & Hatchin should have happened long ago, but it was likely too expensive. The announcement of the SAVE edition likely made FUNimation drop its asking price so it became affordable.

Akame ga Kill! is really, really dark, but it has a lot of mood whiplash too. I saw the first half, it has some effective moments, and it's boostered by a fantastic score by Taku Iwasaki, but yeah, it has some serious flaws in it. The worldbuilding is not perfect either, it's like a lot of typical fantasy settings and characters got thrown into a blender at random. It has some sweet action sequences though, and some of the characters are likable enough.

Also, even though Sentai's dubs have been very hit or miss, I am absolutely certain Sentai will make sure AGK's dub is great. This is their big TV break and they don't want their debut on national TV to be one of their typical rushed, mediocre dubs.

The more I read up about and hear of Akame Ga Kill, the more I'm sure that I won't watch it. It doesn't sound like it's my cup of tea or would be even interesting to watch. While it does disappoint me a bit that I'm watching fewer shows on the lineup, I'd prefer that that feeling obligated to keep watching shows I've started, even if I absolutely hate them. That's one reason why I dropped Kill La Kill and never looked back, which honestly was for the best for me. At least there's one new show I can look forward to. Hopefully Michiko and Hatchin will be good. I saw the opening and it was pretty cool.

The thing about Akame Ga Kill is while its "dark and edgy", its also incredibly silly at times, especially early on. I actually liked the early episodes and it was only around the second cour where it got too damn depressing for its own good and increasingly uninteresting with its underdeveloped canon fodder cast (also stopped following the manga at this point)

While Akame Ga Kill does have problems, it's at least the type of show that definitely fits Toonami and I would rather see it than Sword Art Online. It's also pretty nice that a show from Sentai Filmworks will air on Toonami. It gives me more hope for Persona 4 and Parasyte to air on the block at some point.

I've heard some pretty good things about Michiko and Hatchin, so I'll check that out.

Well, this is a good chance to finally watch Michiko and Hatchin. It has never been a top priority of mine, but if it's on Toonami, I'll give it a go. I know nothing about Agame ga Kill, so I'll just watch it and see how it is.

so no one has talked about intruder 2 yet ? geez by my standards it was by far the biggest and best thing there well anywys, THEORY TIME . So i believe TOM 1 was flying that unknown ship that attacked the absolution and the intruder took over TOM 1's body and is not making him fight against his will . Also im not a big fan of TOM 5 ( even tho he sounded and looked amazing in this footage) so im praying for a TOM 6 but by the way jason was talking i feel that is extremely unlikely. He also said " toonami will never be the same" so im betting on a new sara or new absolution ( probably both ) or maybe even just an upgraded TOM 5 , a TOM 5.5 or sorts. So yeah would love to see TOM 6 but im not too sure that will happen. Also finally that comic dropping in September about damm time! So what do you guys think

I haven't seen the panel yet, I just spoiled the shows for myself, so that's my reason. Maybe I'll comment once I've seen it.

I have no idea how you can wash an actual person in the laundry but I'll be damned if that's not funny. That whole sequence with Sheele was one of my favorite parts of the show.

I would have to see persona 4 on Toonami it's one of my favorite shows and I think it would be perfect for the block. I have never heard of either so I will be curious but I'm not enthusiastic

Don't mind him. He just thinks that anything he doesn't like will automatically ruin the block, regardless of the actual ratings. Seriously, the only thing that can render Toonami "doomed" is crappy ratings, and I doubt something as popular as Akame ga Kill would be a ratings killer.

The more I hear about Akame ga Kill from you guys, the more I'm tempted to watch its Toonami run. I saw a few episodes subbed about a year back, but the gray morality (among other things) left me rather apprehensive.

Never heard of Akame ga Kill but usually when the anime bloggers and forum users say something is bad the show turns out to be good and vice versa. The most hated and divisive shows of the season almost always end up being the best ones. One thing that worries me though is the dub. I really hope Sentai brings their A game.

Michiko and Hatchin can go either way. You can be sure the only reason this show was picked up was due to Watanabe being the producer. The AS/Toonnami crew have had their lips on this guy for over a decade and since Cowboy Bebop and Dandy aren't on the block anymore (thankfully), they must have thought Michiko and Hatchin is the second best thing. Hopefully, Yamamoto can cover up Watanabe's stench. I haven't seen Fujiko Mine but I heard it had a lot of fanservice, so she can't be that half-bad of a director.

Sword Art Online 2 is the only exceptional anime currently on the block so hopefully these new series are worth watching.

Going forward I can see High School of the Dead being picked since it's Sentai's most popular series. I didn't like what little I saw of it but I might change my mind whenever they air it. Other shows of theirs I would like to see on the block is Needless, Queen's Blade Rebellion, Phi - Brain, Samurai Girls, Persona 4, Upotte, Log Horizon, Majikoi - Oh, Devil Survivor 2, Demon King Daimao, Godannar and Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. I hope they add another Viz show in the future and replace One Piece with it. There's not a lot of slots to go around so sacrifices should be made.
