Can I see a schedule or something?
update: TV Insider's schedule changed and has new episodes now listed up to July 25 but no new titles or loglines so looks like this will be back to back premieres with no breaks.yes, that's what I'm saying.
One example is Rooster Fighter airs at 4:30 AM next to DBZ Kai on Friday night/Saturday mornings. Can I see a schedule or something?
Well, that’s not a good look for a June schedule update. The block is officially back to being half reruns, and they chose a full 2 season one as a filler, so things aren’t changing anytime soon. If Blue Lock and Revengers move forward into their next season, the only flexible slots for the rest of the year are Superman and Kamui. And we already pretty well know Lazarus is taking Kamui’s slot. And it’s looking more and more like Get Jiro will take Superman’s slot.
Probably one of the top 5 worst regular schedules we have seen
There's no way that X-Men '97 could air on Toonami. I highly doubt that Disney would be willing to let one of their Disney+ shows air on a channel that they don't own. Blue Exorcist would have been a possibility though. If X-Men '97, Blu-ray remastered IGPX Season 2 and Blue Exorcist Blue Night Saga were part of the lineup, then things would have been better.

Not getting a premiere to replace DDD stinks, but I'm happy to see this. Was so annoyed how they cut the remaster off after season 1 and then just never aired the season 2 remaster. I'm assuming they're going to redeem themselves this go around.IGPX replaces DanDaDan starting on 27 June.
Yeah, I'd like to think the replacement for Superman will be the final Bleach cour and not that Get Jiro show or some other random thing. Hopefully my optimism proves worthwhile.I'd think they'd try to stick the final Bleach cour on the schedule sometime this year.
Yeah, I think next year for Bleach's finale because of that unspoken rule. Like next summer at the earliest. The shortest gap between premiere and Toonami preview was cour 3 with 1 year, 25 days. So late July/early August 2027 in theory.I'd think they'd try to stick the final Bleach cour on the schedule sometime this year. There might be a "have to be this much behind Hulu" rule. Seems like that is the only newish anime coming as this year we got shows two shows from several years ago (Tokyo Revengers and Blue Lock) aside from the actually not that bad Toonami psuedo-original Rooster Fighter. Guess the budget is super low right now and the two shows they got were cheapies. Seems like Tougen Anki and Kill Blue are out of the question.
Problem is a space issue. Multiple sources over the years have tied Get Jiro to Toonami. Will it premiere here? Can’t say, but it does seem certain it will air on the block. That leaves the only room for flexibility on the possibility of Revengers or BL not moving forward with its next season. From what we have seen, BL doesn’t seem to be doing the best, and it’s S2 is notoriously low quality, so maybe they bail on that? And Revengers has some possible hiccups with Hulu. Or as a hilarious third option, IGPX is ejected after S1 again. But if none of that happens, the block is pretty well set in its way till next year.Yeah, I'd like to think the replacement for Superman will be the final Bleach cour and not that Get Jiro show or some other random thing. Hopefully my optimism proves worthwhile.
True, it could be a case of they're in a holding pattern and clutching at the purse strings because of what level the budget is. Could be they got a "no" / still waiting on legalities for something they were trying to get and had to use one of the classics instead.
Does their One Piece deal entail a cap on how many episodes they can air annually? If so they probably have it calculated out and won't double up at this juncture. If they were in a holding pattern and actively searching for a solution, they would have just doubled up OP, which they could drop back down to 1 episode as soon as they needed it. Loading up a 12, possibly 24 week slot filler, tells us they don’t have any plans for the immediate future. At the absolute earliest, we aren’t seeing any significant changes till late August. And that’s only a CHANCE for change, as I laid out above, they could easily just stay the course.
I know everyone here will eye roll but I'd again offer my Kodansha-Fire Force-or-Gachiakuta theory for this slot or for the below if either doesn't continue.
They used to have a cap of 50 episodes per year. As we saw last year, they went over 50, so they have boosted their limit to 55-60. But throwing on IGPX is basically them saying “no we won’t get something in 5-10 weeks”. It also means they still have a time filler in their pocket for later in the year, like for those late November/December slot openings.Does their One Piece deal entail a cap on how many episodes they can air annually? I still find it hard to put Blue Night into consideration when they started the rerun over from S1 ep1. If it was on their radar for this year, they could have started at S3 and given themselves 25 weeks of time to secure it.I think Blue Exorcist: Blue Night Saga starts November 7 and runs to next year. In classic Toonami fashion, instead of premiering a supernatural show on Halloween, they would totally do it the next week instead.
I’m taking Gachiakuta off my personal backlog embargo and watching it soon, so that means it’s certain to be announced for the block next.I know everyone here will eye roll but I'd again offer my Kodansha-Fire Force-or-Gachiakuta theory for this slot or for the below if either doesn't continue.
Gachiakuta may be off limits until the start of 2027 on second thought as the season finale was late December 2025 if the 1 year rule theory is in play.If they did have access to those shows earlier in the year, surely they would have been chosen over years old seasons of Tokyo Revengers and Blue Lock. I think we're probably in for half decade old cheapies as the best case scenario, but considering there are Toonami fans looking for lesser known shows, this isn't too much of a bad thing. It does still seem like Toonami is so isekai-phobic that they'd rather air IGPX reruns than an isekai show, so I'm guessing we'll get a half decade old under the radar shonen title of some sort.
