Toonami Ratings

Now you have an hour of FUNimation dubs from 3-4am.
The combination of E7 + GXP has disaster written over it & that's only going to further weaken FAB. I hope they reconsider and use S-BT as the lead before GXP because it's got more humor than E7.

Just so everyone sees it, this is the new schedule just posted

Source: On Air Schedule - Adult Swim

12:00: Bleach
12:30: Naruto -NEW
1:00: Thundercats
1:30: Samurai 7 -NEW
2:00: Sym-Bionic Titan
2:30: Eureka Seven
3:00: Tenchi Muyo GXP -NEW
3:30: FMA: Brotherhood
4:00: Cowboy Bebop
5:00: InuYasha

Looks like my past speculation on Tenchi being eventually thrown into the 3am slot was correct. Thundercats earning the 1am slot is completely awesome and brings more hope that a new season can hold some sort of possibility in the far future if its ratings continue to be solid. : )

Does it? Maybe? Does it even matter? Not really, even the Toonami crew has said that 3am to 6am doesn't matter a whole lot to them. Keeping Titan and E7 is still rad for a giant robot hour.

Pretty much. 3am to 6am is seen as filler programming hours, since it's so late into the night. That's why AS and formerly ASA/Earlier Toonami lineup simply repeat the block's earlier programming. Toonami just used those hours as an expansion, so we could get more shows on the block.

I know they just used it as filler, but I kinda preferred having Cowboy Bebop end the lineup because it leads into classic Looney Tunes on the regular CN schedule, and it just makes more sense to me to pair up Cowboy Bebop with Looney Tunes than Inuyasha with LT b/c CB and LT are often regarded as two of the greatest cartoons ever created - Inuyasha tends not to get that honor.

If only AS could start airing classic Astro Boy again... or maybe even Voltron or another classic like that... but I'm not even sure Turner still owns the broadcast rights to either of those. Maybe the '85 ThunderCats? That aired briefly on CN and Boom before the '11 remake...

You have no idea how much I would love to see any Astro Boy on Toonami. It won't happen, but I'd stay up all night just for that show.

Do you have a twitter source to confirm this because otherwise it makes no sense. Encore blocks are routine now for basic cable because networks try to sell shows on total day #'s first. Warner purchased spots in all 3 showings of the Walking Dead based on total day #'s of over 15m tv's for that program. That cost them more than the 3 spots would've individually but it insures them that coverage. Networks are able to sell programs on TD's vs C3 because of the competition that exists between sponsors. Despite the program ratings we see for L+SD, TOONAMI's ad support has never been stronger & when it returned to basic cable in May, 2012 the repeat block represented mostly TD's. You can tell that by the same sponsors covering both airings of a show. But as the summer wore on, those sales began to decline until it dropped to 1/3rd of spots & then they ended the repeat block.

I took notice of the hr after FG on Sun vs Bleach-Naruto on Sat. Sat's ad support was stronger & I believe that is due partly to how finely defined the Nielsen data is now. The LPM/PPM residencies don't just include age information & what's being watched. They also include income levels, spending habits, & information pertaining to the sponsors & ads themselves. It's a question of how much work the Nielsen viewer wants to do. The more work, the higher the pay as each of these residencies gets paid for their service. Geeks typically make more & I think everyone will agree TOONAMI attracts a much higher % of them than comedy does.

Ouch, Bleach! Those re-runs...

But good for Naruto. At this rate, it won't be long untill it cracks a million.

Adult Swim Weekly Ratings Scorecard | TV Media Insights – TVMI – TV Ratings – Network TV Show Reviews PaQ vs Marquez 4 started at 9p & the ended at 1a, but the main event started at 12a. That explains why Bleach fell below Naruto. Naruto is probably attracting more younger viewers that wouldn't be privy to going to a sports bar to catch the fight. GXP is rated PG so those younger viewers probably stuck around for it & got a bit of a thrill as it was easily the most fan service driven ep yet. Let's not forget the girls who watch TOONAMI too.

Competition Series ‘Unchained Reaction’ Premieres On March 18 At 10pm - Ratings | TVbytheNumbers HBO PPV, FOX UFC 8-10p 1.6 18-49, 3.41m tvs, SNL 11:30-1a 2.6 18-49, 7m tvs, USA's WWE AM Raw 2a 0.12 18-49, 316k tvs.

Next weekend will probably be worse as the PPV event is replayed on HBO cable, & The Hobbit opens at the BO. Worst performer of the night is obvious & should have been expected: Black Dynamite.

An 800 drop from Cleveland to Black Dynamite is awful. Of course Bleach being in reruns isn't helping matters. GXP and Samurai 7's ratings are just erratic and I'm doubtful about how much changing the schedule yet again is going to prevent that erraticism. At least Naruto's holding steady.

Why did they think that Bleack Dynamite just needed a break in that slot? What a terrible idea it is to bring it back. Bleach can't anyways when it's in reruns, but it really can't get much more than 1M like that normally. Nice showing Naruto, but hte 1M might have to wait until after Bleach reruns.

My guess is, Bleach didn't get that much of a drop in ratings the week before because it's likely many viewers tuned in thinking it would still be a new episode. I knew bringing back Black Dynamite before Boondocks was a bad idea, and these ratings show. Overall, though, we should be expecting lower ratings than normal for most shows, since December tends to be a weak month for TV ratings.

Love how Tenchi GXP was the only show to gain substantial ratings from it's previous week. Inyuasha at 5:30 did so too but not nearly as much. I wouldn't expect lower ratings for December though, maybe a few thousand off. I've noticed a common trend with the ratings about it roughly about this currently with the most recent ratings.

So I'd say beyond the deviations from week to week most have been hitting the marks pretty well baring Tenchi GXP over the Thanksgiving weekend and the move due to Naruto. But I'd call that more unfortunate series of circumstance (or Seina's bad luck breaking dimensional walls) than anything else.

Yeah, Bleach's ratings were pretty low, which isn't too surprising due to being a rerun. At least Naruto was doing quite nicely and it was a great idea to bring it to the block right when Bleach was going into ratings. GXP actually getting a boost surprises me, especially when it hasn't been doing that well for the last few weeks. Thundercats, Samuari 7 and Sym-Bionic Titan tend to get better ratings than it as well. Still, I'm happy with moving it to the 3AM slot, if only so I don't have to turn off the TV when it comes on in the middle of the block and I can just go straight to sleep.

I'm a little miffed only because the move was basically due to a single week scare on Thanksgiving. Even if you don't like the show, you can still just mute it and eat a sandwich (otherwise known as the Toonami Faithful method :) ) That way it still helps boost ratings and you don't need to listen to the show and Senia's annoying voice or the roommates either. Win-Win in my book :)

If it consistently beats E7 and/or S7 at 3a GXP will move up. I'm more miffed at E7 being the lead for it instead of SymTitan. I think SymTitan is a better fit with the show. That ep of GXP wasn't just fan-servicey. It had some semblance of action as well :)

Well, it was doing pretty poorly for a couple of weeks and I don't think that they can wait too long for a show to pick up if it did that poorly. I really don't like the show and this particular episode made me want to drop the show completely because of how terrible it was. It was almost as bad as the first episode. The idea of muting the show so that I don't have to listen to it and can still possibly help out the block does sound like a nice idea that I may consider if they do move the show around again. Personally, I'm just hoping that all of the other shows will outperform it so that it doesn't happen. In my opinion, GXP has been the worst show that they've picked up and it doesn't even fit with the block that well at all, so putting it in a later slot works fine with me.

I think the reason why they don't put Sym-Bionic Titan before GXP is because Eureka Seven doesn't do that well, so it probably wouldn't be a good idea to put it at 2AM. Plus, Sym-Bionic Titan does pretty well at 2AM. If GXP does better in ratings than Eureka Seven, then I can see them swapping those two shows so that GXP will be at 2:30AM and Eureka Seven will be back at 3AM.

Yeah, Bleach's ratings were pretty low, which isn't too surprising due to being a rerun.
There were other factors. The impact of the HBO PPV fight can be seen in the ESPN ratings for the night. Son of the Bronx: ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU ratings (December 3-9, 2012). The Heisman did even better than last week's conference championship game, but ESPN dropped 25% from 11-12a to 12a-1a & ESPN2 dropped 35%. So Bleach dropping 20% is not bad. From 1a-2a ESPN gained 20% as fight fans turned to it for highlights. Had there been no fight, odds are that Bleach ep gets over 1m.
