. And also you've been awfully rude to a lot of people. Maybe we need a rude removal device installed here?

While we don't have a device, its actually in the rules about treating others with respect~

Always treat fellow posters with respect and courtesy. Always.

Inuyasha, I'd suggest reading up on them before having anymore conversations with anybody here. I hate to act like a mod, but I think enough is enough. You clearly don't have any interest in liking other opinions outside of your own(going as far to call others "fan boys" and "sheep"). Part of the weight in expressing your opinion is the possibility of others disagreeing. I think it would be best if we all just dropped it and talked about actual ratings.

Anymore discussion about One Piece on Nick/Disney/Toonami/ABC/MTV/Cooking Channel/etc can be taken over to a completely different thread. Good? Awesome.

Sooo... have the ratings been posted yet?

No?
Okay, I'll come back later.

Once T&B ends on Neon Alley, Viz negotiate a reasonable price for it to air on Toonami.

That's not how it works. VP of Viz Brian Ige even said that Neon Alley doesn't effect the price of any of their shows. Whatever Tiger and Bunny is now is not going to change on Neon Alley or not.

To note, I agree with you One Piece isn't very likely for Toonami. Where I disagree is that it's likely to end up with Nick or Disney (it would be a good fit for Nick but I'm doubtful of their interest, and given how they screwed up Shippuden I doubt Disney would do a good job with it, plus the Jake and the Neverland Pirates comparison was ridiculous and while there was something to the Spongebob comparison One Piece has more in common with Naruto and Bleach than Spongebob). And also you've been awfully rude to a lot of people. Maybe we need a rude removal device installed here?

Disney is probably even less interested in One Piece than Nicktoons is. Disney XD is going in a completely different direction than when they picked up Naruto.

I could see Young Justice airing on Toonami though. It probably wouldn't cost them anything and add a little something new to the block.
I'm not a fan of Invasion. I hate the whole time jump & kid flash from the future angle. I enjoyed the first season that covered the origin of the chars & the coming together of the squad much better. I would hope DeMarco wouldn't feel obligated to air Invasion even if the ratings were good. I'm concerned that the block is skewing too young now. There was so much promise with the MA rated DW in the lineup especially with the ratings it avg'd. But that was lost with the addition of E7 & S7, & then further with TCats & S-BT.

I can accept the need for the block to skew younger during the football & Christmas shopping season because there is greater demand for the ad space from a more diverse sponsorship & because it's more of a challenge to attract young male viewers then, but for the spring & summer I'm hoping the block skews older again. If anything gets a 2nd run, I'd prefer it be DW. Basilisk, Witchblade, Darker than Black, Black Lagoon, Shiki, Sekerei, Corpse Princess, & even GunGrave are all MA rated series that should do well on TOONAMI. DeMarco recently aired just 1/2 a season of Bebop in the run that just fin, so maybe he would be inclined to do something similar for GG. GG starts out slow but really ramps up after the lead char is killed & enhanced as a zombie. There's so many flashbacks later on that I don't think the earlier ep need to be aired. I don't think any of these series will cost more than E7 or S7 did.

IY:FA is a different story. The last time IY premiered on [as] it was airing on weeknights & it did as well or better than RC. It scored several times in the top 20 list of 12-17 cable, & it avg'd over 650k in 18-34. Combine those two & total viewers wise that puts it in an RC range. DeMarco definitely has Lazzo in his corner on IY:FA & because the Naruto decision proved highly profitable Turner is more likely to say yes to an extended budget for this. It's a different story with VIZ as well. Because [as] has renewed their commitment to keep IY on the air VIZ knows that IY:FA will have life beyond 1 or 2 runs with [as]. VIZ is more interested in a favorable time slot & a LT commitment than holding out for a bidding war like they did with Naruto S. DXD's decision to play keep away with Naruto S definitely angers VIZ there.

^ RabidInuyashaFan first off your post is littered with spoilers for shows that I and probably others haven't necessarily seen thank you very much. My only other comments are Toonami is not going to air half of a series randomly so let's just stop even thinking that.

Toonami ratings for January 19, 2013:

Bleach - 1,241,000 viewers
Naruto - 1,008,000 viewers
ThunderCats - 1,055,000 viewers
Samurai 7 - 880,000 viewers
Sym-Bionic Titan - 743,000 viewers
Eureka Seven - 670,000 viewers
Tenchi Muyo! GXP - 701,000 viewers
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - 647,000 viewers
Cowboy Bebop [4.0am] - 676,000 viewers
Cowboy Bebop [4.5am] - 677,000 viewers
InuYasha [5.0am] - 665,000 viewers
InuYasha [5.5am] - 652,000 viewers

Post NFL season, Naruto's start of Zabuza did not do as well as expected. TCats Lionel challenge ep surprised. As expected, S-B T did fall down in the later slot, & S7 lost nearly 200k of the TCat lead. E7 is still the dog of the block, but GXP continues to surprise in it's slot especially compared to Brotherhood following it. This bodes well for future comedies & Funimation does have the MA rated Cat Planet Cuties. That 700k level can be established for a floor price for that hr. GXP is certainly deserving of S-BT's slot when it ends, & that would enable them to double up on Brotherhood if there's nothing new ready. It was doing better b2b than it's doing now.

It's no surprise that Bebop's series concluding eps beat Brotherhood & since that was a 1/2 series run it confirms that TOONAMI does not have to start every run of a series from ep 1. It's no longer speculation. It's historical fact now.

I'm honestly not a fan of the second season either. The time jump still kind of bothers me and it does feel like they're trying to do way too much in one season with the storyline, subplots and new characters. They had too many characters in just the first season that they couldn't develop even close to an equal amount, so adding in a bunch of new ones wasn't the best choice in my opinion. Still, I think it could fit on Toonami and potentially provide some decent ratings. If they do get to air Young Justice, then they probably would air the second season after going through the first one since they most likely wouldn't have to pay for it. It would be an odd choice to only air one season and not the other.

I don't mind more shows that aren't TV-MA since I think that the quality of the shows themselves rather than what rating they get should stand out more. Deadman Wonderland was surprisingly entertaining for me, which was really weird when I really don't like watching anything with a lot of blood and violence, and seeing it before it was released on DVD was kind of cool, but it was basically kind of a popcorn show where I just enjoyed it at the moment and it didn't have any replay value for me. It probably would get decent ratings if they could bring it back for another run, but I'd rather see them spend the money on getting new and better shows.

I'm not sure if that's the best example. Bebop has been played on Adult Swim multiple times and it's on the later slots for the block. I can't see them starting up a new show without starting from episode one and skipping around a lot of episodes will probably just be for shows that are in the later hours for Toonami.

As for this week's ratings, it looks like the block did pretty well. Bleach and Naruto are still the highest rated shows on the block and Thundercats is back to hitting the one million mark too. There was a fairly big drop from Thundercats to Samurai 7, but Samurai 7 still did pretty well. Sym-Bionic Titan did well for its timeslot too. GXP doing that well for the 3AM slot still surprises me. I'm still hoping that they'll keep it there just so that I can go to sleep without even seeing it. Even so, I wouldn't mind if they did try to do more romantic comedy series in the future, as long as those series are actually good/entertaining.

Did I actually miss something with Bebop? Last I heard after abruptly restarting it a while ago AFAIK they played it from start to finish. No? If not what are they even doing with it? >.>

The run of Bebop that just ended aired from start to finish in order. It was the one that aired before it that skipped a lot of episodes when it changed timelot, because they accidently used the episode numbers of the GitS episodes that was originally intendeds to air. They explained that it was a mistake though.

As for Young Justice, they explained that they wont air shows that currently air on CN on the tumblr, so we'd have to wait for a while. Plus, they said when answering to Samurai Jack that they wouldn't air it for a while since it's on Boomerang, which it currently is too.

About the ratings, looks good. Surprised that ThunderCats beat Naruto. Chuunin Exams should change that though. Well, ThunderCats is over by then, but you know what I mean. Bleach with new episodes next time will be awesome!

Nice!
Thundercats cracked a million again, so that's great!
We got three platinum-number shows again last week.

Very pleased to see we've recovered.

Thundercats beat Naruto? Impressive.

One man's lemons make another man's lemonade. Quality is subjective. I think there are plenty of MA rated series that are of better quality than the PG stuff they are airing now but I realize that's just my opinion. I don't get as hyped over these viewer counts as you do, because I think the PG stuff is still weighted below 18. That's especially true of TCats as evidenced by it's absence on the Turner report that week. In comparison DW's ratings were clearly weighted above 18 as evidenced by it's winning that time slot a few times & it's growth in the demog over what ASA aired there the yr prior. So from a ratings perspective, DeMarco should try to lean TOONAMI more towards MA.

While TCats & YJ were produced under the Warner house, they are not free to TOONAMI. These shows do/would impact TOONAMI's budget & since YJ S1's 18-49 avg was much better than Invasion's I wouldn't assume anything beyond S1. S-B T on the otherhand was produced by Turner so that's probably free to air like Big O S2 but I don't think it's ratings warrant airing it any more than Big O S2. They dropped Big O S1 because the ratings didn't justify the continued expense. Bebop is not the only series they've started a run outside of ep 1. They've done it with Bleach, IY, Big O, etc. I agree they've never done it for an intiial run though & I don't imagine they will in the future. If DeMarco has an interest in Gungrave it's more likely it would start from ep 1 in a higher slot & then move down if it failed. I just hope DeMarco would be willing to move it back up around it's mid point if the ratings really surprised then.

I do believe that Naruto is proving profitable in a 900k-1m range, but that drop from Bleach can not be overlooked. The darker themed Zabuza storyline was supposed to lift it to new heights on [as] & that hasn't happened yet. The action is solid but the drama can get pretty thick. I wonder if the current crop of TOONAMI viewers have an appetite for that any more.

WTG Toonami all around! TCats beating Naruto? I like it! I like it when the whole lineup does well. Just nice to see 3 shows in the millions again. Keep at it, S7!

That is a valid point. I just don't think that Deadman Wonderland is the best example of a quality TV-MA show, especially when I would take Sym-Bionic Titan, Samurai 7 and even Thundercats, despite my overall disappointment with how that series was handled, over it. There are TV-MA series of better quality than Deadman Wonderland, but there are also plenty of quality TV-PG shows and I think that they should focus more on the show's overall quality rather than what ratings they get.

I thought that any Cartoon Network series would be free for them.

I'm liking the ratings this week, a big improvement over last week.

And Thundercats beat Naruto? I didn't expect that to happen.

They seem to be running that Bleach promo a lot during regular [as]. Lets hope we see a bit of an increase for Bleach on Saturday, it'll bring the whole block up.

No. Only those that are produced at Cartoon Network Studios & as we have found out with the Megas XLR ordeal only those that CN has retained a cable license for. There is considerable difference S&P wise between CN's license & [as] so shared usage or change in usage usually requires the production company's consent & that entails costs.

If CN is reconsidering TCats for Sat morning again, it will likely be a case where Warner produces a new season & CN acquires it. It's rare for studios to shift control of production to another studio. There's a pride factor there & that makes it a very expensive proposition. While it all amounts to Peter paying Paul under the big Warner house, it's unlikely Paul will ever pay Peter back. It's more likely any pay back will be realized in an increase in TOONAMI's overall general budget.

It's not all bad though. If CN were to greenlight a new season of TCats, those people would be brought back into a Warner studio & they would have the opportunity to produce both a reversioned 1st season as well as new season. Since all animation is stored digitally these days, it's not that hard to go back & bloody/spice up scenes once you've assembled the right people. In addition to CN getting a new season, Warner gets new dvd/br releases tailored more to a TOONAMI audience. That kind of investment would make TCats a mainstay for [as] then similarly to Big O S2.

I'm gonna take a guess and say maybe 'Thundercats" is beating "Naruto" because a good chunk of the audience has already seen these episodes long ago and might be new to "Thundercats", and thus are more interested in that show. "Naruto" still remains very strong because, hey, it's "Naruto".

Let's not overvalue Naruto. It beat Jan 2012's Brotherhood in that slot by a measly 17k. TCats slaughtered 2012's Drrr in the next slot by over 250k. S7 beat Kekkaishi by 195k, S-BT beat FLCL by 122k. The rest of the 2013 block beat the encore's of Bleach, Brotherhood, & Durarara easily. Bebop & Inuyasha beat their 2012 counterparts as well. ASA's 2012 lead was Boon*2 & it avg'd 1557, the 2013 lead is BD+Bn avg'g 1496. Bleach 2012 beat 2013 by a measly 47k. Sat's BoxOffice was similar with 2012 led by Underworld 4 & 2013's led by Mama.

The following week in 2012 had The Grey winning Sat's BoxOffice, & Boon*2 dropping to 1254 as a lead. Bleach 1081, FmB 889, Drrr 721, Kek 745, FLCL 648. The Bleach, Brotherhood, & Drrr encores tumbled with an avg near 400k. The week after that was the Star Wars event night & TOONAMI is not going to approach those #"s. The lineup was RC SW1&2, FG Trap, RC SW3, & SW:CW*3. The Clone Wars encore beat 1m to close out the night.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
