"Wander over Yonder" Series Talkback (SPOILERS)

I love the style. It looks more broad compared to PPG and Foster's.

The cartoon clip is a real fun to look and reminds me how i liked PPG before. It's a nice step to see something different from Disney. :)

It seems to be a great cartoon I would watch. :D Let's just hope it has lots of Hanna-Barbera sound effects like Craig did in The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home. Disney could also acquire more animated shows on the channel; Oscar's Oasis could work. Four animated shows (not counting the animation on the Disney Junior block) doesn't seem enough cartoons. Overall it was a brilliant clip I watched from Wander over Yonder. I hope it does well on Disney Channel. ;)

This is wonderful news! Between this & Gravity Falls good to see Disney actually start caring a bit about animation again.:D I look forward to viewing this toon!

Wander over Yonder would also be a good addition to Disney's Toonin' Saturday lineup. Now, so far, there is Fish Hooks, Phineas & Ferb and Gravity Falls, but still, more animated programming is needed for the block. Still, I'd like for Tron: Uprising to be included, as well as Lauren Faust's Galaxy Girls and perhaps, Disney Channel can bring Marvel Universe over from Disney XD. Disney Channel's Toonin' Saturday lineup does have a lot of potential- it just needs more variety.

Wow, 15 months and still next to nothing has been revealed. I now really want to see that WoY sketchbook McCracken sold before Disney picked it up as a series.

Either this show is really being kept under wraps or we're due for a trailer pretty soon. I'm sure something will be revealed this summer for sure.

My only concern a this point is that this show is actually is just as good as Gravity Falls has been (so far), if not better.

Best case scenario they'll have their own Comic-Con panel this year, with Craig, Lauren, the main voice cast, and maybe Matt Chapman and Daron Nefcy to also discuss their own shows they are developing for Disney. Worst case scenario Disney is trying to sabotage the show after they didn't know what to do with Uprising and Motorcity. Poor Eric Coleman.

As much as I'm convinced of the latter, knowing this is Disney we're dealing with here - please don't scare me like that... That's all I ask.

The success of Phineas and Ferb(though it's not as popular as it used to be, and hasn't since before Gravity Falls' debut) proved to Disney that animation for their channel is still profitable, paving the way for shows like Gravity Falls and Wander Over Yonder(the latter being in production around early 2012, before Falls premiered).

Disney still treats P&F as the much more high-profile show.

Yes, that's right. As Phineas and Ferb performed higher than expected. Back in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, PnF was pretty much as popular as Gravity Falls would become. It became its flagship cartoon, due to how surprisingly successful the show was(I think of its popularity being similar to Rugrats', at least until SpongeBob came along that is).

I'm not a fan of the more recent PnF episodes, because I feel the show is trying too hard to not repeat itself(This has been a frequent criticism of the show. I mean that it repeats itself). However, I feel that with Bee Day/Bee Story, the show is going back to what it usually does. I don't think it repeats itself. Sure, it is the same formula, but IMHO, they build off of it in a very clever way. I think that by summer of 2013, we'll have 3 very popular cartoons on Disney Channel. (Causing Disney to gain interest in animation again)

I'd imagine any show would want to mix things up after a while, even if being so devoted to familiarly is part of the show's charm.

Anyway, about Wander, there's a chance it may not air this summer, despite being promised at the 2013 upfront. Heck, Jack McBrayer said in a recent interview he thinks the show will air in the fall.

To be fair, Phineas and Ferb was the only animated series Disney had at the time. Kim Possible and American Dragon: Jake Long were on their way out shortly after P&F premiered. Then again, technically Disney also had The Replacements and The Emperor's New School (technically). One was a desperate ratings grab (The Emperor's New School) and the other was a representative of the creatively starved company. The former was cancelled in 2008, while The Replacements ended in early 2009. Fish Hooks premiered in 2010, so for over a year, Phineas and Ferb was the only animated program airing on Disney. It was popular almost from the start, but it pretty much had no choice but to be the channel's flagship cartoon considering the drastic lack and year long absence of any other animated show.

I compare Phineas and Ferb to Ed, Edd n' Eddy in that respect. Both shows focus on children, both take place in the summer, and both are about the crazy, creative things kids can think of when bored and want to make money (in EEnE's case). The first 4 seasons of EEnE took place during summer vacation (same amount of seasons as P&F), however it was around this time that the series broke the monotony with holiday specials and the following season taking place during fall and winter when the kids are back at school. Though IMO, EEnE could've been set in summer for maybe another season or simply a little longer than it had, the change had to take place sooner or later though. While the Eds maintained their popularity, Phineas and Ferb have been losing steam for the past couple of years because they copy and paste the same formula for every episode with little to mix things up. If the show is to continue, then they're going to have to send them back to school because people have gotten bored with the same ol' schtick for nearly 200 episodes. Personally, when the time is right, I think Disney should just put the show to rest because the characters returning to school seems like too big of a risk at this point. I'm all for risktaking, but this move has a chance of diminishing the show's credibility when Disney can simply end it and make healthy ratings off reruns.

Phineas and Ferb has served its purpose, it's time for a change and I believe Wander Over Yonder is that change we need. Strange that its set to premiere this year yet there has still been no sign of a trailer. Hopefully one will show itself soon because I wanna see what this show is about!

I presume there's more to the premise and tone than just "Adventure Time in space". Yes, I know that comparison isn't fair.

Actually, GR, Phineas and Ferb has been losing popularity since Gravity Falls came out. It was starting to lose popularity months before though. But if anything, 2012 was the worst year for the show. (Phineas and Ferb, that is)

I still do think Phineas and Ferb does deserve some credit for at least allowing shows like Gravity Falls to be made. It would have been made sure, but I don't think on the Disney Channel, seeing as they were phasing out their cartoons. But PnF did so successfully(People say it's due to it being the only Disney Channel cartoon that was made, but no. The show also was popular due to the pop culture references, satirical humour and lovable characters. I think the show has had some memorable episodes. I think though, the upcoming movie is where its popularity is decided. I don't want it to end up like Rugrats Go Wild did), that I guess it allowed other cartoons on Disney to get vetoed, once again. And I do feel that Phineas and Ferb also started the better age of animation, because since then, shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, My Little Pony:FIM.etc have come out.

Maybe PNF may do something new with the fifth season. I've heard Dan and Swampy are taking risks with the next season. They have completed the fourth season, and I think due to complaints from fans, they aim to do something new.

It wasn't really a case of "phasing out their cartoons", it was more like they didn't believe creator-driven cartoons fit their brand. Then Dan and Swampy came to Disney as a last resort and were eventually allowed to make the show they wanted to make. It paid off, and Disney TV Animation became all about finding creator-driven visions.

Oh yeah. Sorry about that. Still, to me, PnF did pave the way for Disney finding more cartoons for their animation medium.

I hope they get Les Claypool to do the theme song.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
