What is red kryptonite?

What does it do? Where does it come from? I hear it will be in next season of Smallville.

Red Kryptonite has random effects on Supes.

It might turn him evil, it might rob him of one of his powers, it might supercharge him, it unpredictable. This is what I got from an old superfriends episode.

There was an episode where a villlian had gotten ahold of gold kryptonite, wich would rob him of his powers forever. An interesting episode

in the comics at least, the red kryptonite causes mutations like disfiguration, and mental problems. so yah, it could cause supe's to go bad. but also in the comics, there is a gold kryptonite which removed all powers from any kryptonian, just making them normal.

matt as hell... i think these are all the kryptonite versions:

• green- makes him weak, slowly kills him
• red-causes mutations
• blue-makes bizarro weak, slowly kills me am bizzaro
• white- i think it just kills plants
• gold-steals all powers
• x- i think it gave powers to animals
• jewel- had to do w/ the phantom zone??

This is important too...always remember that Red K only effects Superman for 24 hours. (I think anyway...in any case, the stuff's effects are only temporary)

Jewel K. allowed whoever possessed it to be able to cause flammable things to explode. In the story with it, someone in the Phantom Zone tricked Superman into giving it to them. Then, they followed Superman around and made things explode, and told him that his exposure to Jewel K. was what was making it happen. But Supes figured it out when some things that should have exploded didn't.

X Kryptonite was the source of Streaky the cat's powers.

Green I knew, Red I learned from Lois & Clark who I think did it well, and Gold I heard about it taking away Clark's powers cuz it was mentioned on Buffy one time (Oz and Xander were talking. They have the funniest one liners and convo's).

True, Blue Kryptonite also restores Superman's powers, as was seen in a Superfriends episode(can't recall the name) so he should have more blue kryptonite stashed away in the Fortress of Solitude.

doesn't supes need his powers to get INTO the FOS? i seem to remember a rather huge key needed to unlock the entrance. or did i dream that part?
