Why Did You Choose Your Current Avatar Version 4.0

Black History month for Amanda Waller

Know that I chose Razorclaw (Transformers IDW flavor) for my new avatar. Know that he is choking on a mind-control device in that picture.

This week, my avatar is Big Band from Skullgirls. Why is he called Big Band?

Now you know.

I really want to play Darkest Dungeon and the Highway man looks like a bad Mofo

This week, my avatar is Peacock from Skullgirls. She looks like a toon, but she's actually a cyborg who happens to look like an old school cartoon character. Case in point, those dot eyes are actually empty eye sockets; she sees with the eyes on her mechanical arms. Heck, she doesn't even have teeth; that's a freaking bear trap in her mouth.

Regardless, she and Big Band (see above) are my two favorite characters in the game. I think she sees him as a father figure or something.

This week, my avatar is Skadi from the webcomic of the same name. I found this webcomic a few months back and was hooked in by its humor. With its bloody violence and partial (sometimes outright) nudity, it's obvious this webcomic is not meant for children, though there are some pages that I wouldn't mind a kid seeing.

My new avatar is Frank West of Dead Rising and Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

I haven't been on toonzone for some time now, so I figured it was time I got a new avatar. I chose Jack from the webcomic "Zoophobia" by Vivienne Medrano because I've been reading the comic and he is so far one of my favorite characters.

I recently changed my avatar to Washington, a fox and the main protagonist of "Zip Zip", a new French cartoon that has yet to air in the United States. Although the series is airing on a variety of Disney Channel feeds internationally, it's unclear which network will broadcast it in America. Boomerang, perhaps? Anyway...

< My avatar as of March 21

Here are a few reasons why I chose him:

1. Ties to Commander Clark: The series starring Washington, Zip Zip, is a new production from a studio in France that was more notably the producer of Commander Clark (which still stands as my favorite cartoon ever produced in France,) Go-N Productions.

2. Art Style: One thing I really enjoyed about Commander Clark was the kitsch, retro animation style that has little existence in some of the current animated productions produced in America. After seeing some of the trailers and the promotional artwork for Zip Zip, it seems that the production crew wanted to reproduce those retro elements once again, even if some of the storyboards aren't dependent on it. I was already hooked on the show just by looking at some of the episode stills, but this parody cover of "LIFE" sealed the deal for me.

This week, my avatar is Diseasoid from Skadi. This filthy little creature is Skadi's sidekick/slave/friend. He's also the most adorable disease-ridden beast I have ever seen. I'd like to give this guy a hug, but I'm afraid I'll end up vomiting profusely afterwards.

This week, my avatar is Meat Boy from Super Meat Boy. He's the hero of this game and he will not rest until he saves Bandage Girl from the evil Dr. Fetus. It's a simple premise to a fun game.

This is one tough platformer, but it's difficulty comes from its level design instead of cheap, out-of-nowhere surprises. Pretty much every mistake you make in this game is on you (and I made a lot of mistakes in this game).

This was actually a picture I had saved on my computer a couple of years ago with the intent of using it as an avatar. I kind of forgot about it until a couple of weeks ago and thought to myself "Oh, hey, why not?".

This week, my avatar is Bandage Girl from Super Meat Boy. She's Meat Boy's girlfriend and the damsel-in-distress of the game. The funny thing is she's actually the end point of each level, but Dr. Fetus kidnaps her whenever she's within your grasp. Yup, that's how big of a jerkwad Dr. Fetus is.

At the very least, one world allows Bandage Girl to get her chance at being a hero and save Meat Boy from Dr. Fetus. It's also home to the hardest levels in the game for extra fun.

Grimlock from the original Transformers. The image is scanned from a Japanese magazine promoting the episode, "Grimlock's New Brain." Its a standard riff on "Flowers for Algernon." I wanted to celebrate the only other time Grimlock's spoken normally in a cartoon.

I meant to use this avatar in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the end of the American Civil War, but I forgot it was coming until I checked the news this morning.

I reverted back to my previous avatar today, since I was really missing my old one. I didn't cover this avatar when I changed my name a couple of months ago, but he's Yippee Coyote from Quickdraw McGraw. He has also been my profile name since I dropped the ever-political "ObamaSoundoff" name around the beginning of the year. The picture itself was actually "refurbished" by me using Photoshop, because the video source where I found it had deteriorated in color, as shown below.

After the name change, I couldn't stick with a good profile picture to complement my avatar, so this time I made a new one. Taking a scene from the iconic intro to The Jetsons, Yippee Coyote finds himself in the future.

The author of the Yowp blog probably finds this to be utterly ridiculous, but I think it's brilliant.

For the month of May, my avatars are going to be the seasonal giants from Don't Starve's DLC, Reign of Giants. For Spring it's the Moose/Goose, Summer: Dragonfly, Autumn: Bearger, and Winter: Deerclops. If you think surviving in the wilderness is hard, wait until you meet one of these behemoths.

Here's a video of them in action.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
