Why does Superboy need to sound like a stereotypical depiction of a teenager in animation when the creators have chosen to go with North's sound? The acting has been superb, something that is key to this character over all else.

He needs to sound like a teenager because he's the younger clone of a character that is voiced by the exact same VA.

Boondocks had the same problem with Riley and Huey in the first episode and maybe early in the series but they did a good job of fixing it.

This may have been covered in the spoiler threads, but I don't want to be spoiled too much. Every episode so far has dealt with characters with similar powers. The ice villains at the beginning of Independence Day (and two Lanterns in the league), Mister Twister tracking Red Tornado, and now The Light working to combine Venom and the Blockbuster formula.

It's a very interesting route they're going and I'm as excited about this show this early as I am about any show since JL and BTAS.

The difference is apparent in the two performances without trying to sound "like a teenager." I'm confident the upcoming episode (which I've got to assume will actually have Superboy and Superman talking to each) will prove this even more so.

I thought the same thing, but at the same time I figured since Superboy is a clone that was age-advanced within a short amount of time, he probably wouldn't sound young anyway, because he didn't even have to go through puberty and was already in the midst of advanced adolescence. Basically, his voice wouldn't need to change because he's past that stage of physical development.

Not to mention the fact Superboy is a clone of an alien who's far more advanced than any other organism on the planet. With all his numerous super powers, why wouldn't he have a deep voice?

I agree, while the two sounded similar I don't think they sounded identical. You're right we will most likely see the two talking this Friday, so we'll know for sure.

I dunno if I just haven't made the connection or something, but.... what does having numerous superpowers and being an advanced alien have to do with haivng a deep voice?

Some teenagers have pretty deep voices, and some teenagers don't. Superboy is a teenager that just happens to have a deep voice. End of story.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. And on the production side, I don't really believe there's any reason behind this than "hey, let's save some money and have Nolan North voice both Superman and Superboy, since he has a good enough range to set them apart from each other." ;)

It has nothing to do with saving money.

He's a clone, frankly it would be weirder if he sounded nothing like Clark

If Superboy has stronger muscles than the average person, would he not also have stronger vocal chords?

It would be a shame if this thread becomes dominated by a discussion about the deep quality of Superboy's voice so let's try to mine some other qualities about this episode, shall we?

I really enjoyed this episode but it's probably my least favorite so far. That isn't a dig at all, because I've found every installment so far to be pretty stellar, but this one didn't quite click for me.

I was very impressed with the opening scene, particularly because of Mammoth's skin ripping and his muscle showing through. Not sure who's design choice that was but that was a really nice touch and I'm glad CN let it appear on screen.

In regards to Bane, I was afraid he was going to be re-imagined as a younger villain at first when I saw the promo images, but then when you hear Danny Trejo's voice then the design really clicked. I didn't really think his design benefited from khaki pants - that's the sort of thing I hope the series doesn't opt for: adding "grounding" design qualities that makes the characters feel more ordinary rather than embrace the "supervillain" quality of them and not be afraid to serve them up in full-on costumes. I don't think the series' designs are in danger of that, but in Bane's case I don't think it's a good idea to give him wardrobe that make him feel ordinary and diminish his visual even in a subtle way.

I liked that this episode's story stands on its own, but in true Weisman style it continues to build on the overarching storyline. It was neat to find that Kobra's serum was being combined with venom.

I liked the music in the episode, though I thought the music that played during the factory fight felt like music I'd already heard before in other series.

On the whole I'm thrilled with the series so far. I liked the interplay with the characters here and Aqualad assuming the leader role. Sportsmaster turned out to be a really cool villain and even had a cool voice to boot. I'm excited to see what Bane's next course of action is, given that Young Justice was involved with the destruction of his factory. Also excited to learn more about the Light and what's going to happen there!

I thought it was hilarious that given all the Spanish in this episode Sportsmaster completely slaughtered the pronunciation of "mano y mano".

Well, you see, II had the opposite reaction. Bane was Venom'ed up to be a super soldier (at least I thought he was), so giving him a slightly more soldier-like look worked, IMO.

good episode loved it,but one question.
whats the big deal about the cobra venom if all it took
to take out mammoth was just an electric charge from aqualad
how would that even odds with the justice league, all they would have to do
is call blk bolt and static shock cobra venom monsters problem solved.

The idea was to create an army of those guys which I'm sure would have caused the league some trouble.
I'm not sure Static exist in this universe, and while Black Lightning might I dont think he's part of the league if he does exist.

Haha that wasnt the only spanish slaughtered in this episode, at first I thought it was bad voice acting, but then I realized it was only the white guys completely butchering it.
Bane's spanish was good, and the guy who he spoke to when they were tied up by Young Justice spoke well.

I don't recall that line, but did he mispronounce it because the expression is actually mano a mano?

Edit: yeah, that was the case. In any event, he said it correctly. It's "hand to hand," not "hand and hand." :)

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
