"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Now that I've actually thought about this a bit, I'm beginning to seriously question why the home video needs to be out before it gets picked up for television. It doesn't make sense. AoT is popular enough that it'll probably do pretty well on DVD without a Western TV airing, but airing it before it releases would definitely get it some more fans. The only thing that I can think is keeping AoT from airing before the DVD release is something with the Japanese studio. This whole situation seems strange to me.

It might be that since Attack on Titan is being rather extensively reanimated for the Japanese home video market, that's causing a delay on Funi's end.

That would make sense. Well, at least more than Funi just wanting the video out before the tv airing.

So the last two Openings have been about cold temperatures. I'm going to go out on a limb here: the November announcement is the acquisition of Freezing.

EDIT: Never mind. I just realized TOM is referring to Aokiji. >_> Yay, jumping the gun.

This talk of Attack on Titan not being able to broadcast before its home video release reeks of misinformation. Somehow I think that either the rep (was it even an actual rep?) or person inquiring was confused about something.

Thank goodness, because I would be upset if that is the anime that Tonami chose.

Nothing on that twitter account says that person works for FUNi. Besides, FUNi isn't going to confirm anything until they make their own announcements. This wouldn't be the first time that Amazon or another online store leaked something, which FUNi either denied or ignored all together for the sake of waiting for their "official announcement."

I don't doubt that it's real and it's yet another case of FUNi trying to cover up something that leaked. Just pointing it out.

Space Dandy gif on the tumblr.

Could a simulcast or something close to it really be happening? FLCL leaving after one run does open up a lot in January, and the somewhat weaker ratings at the start of the block could allow for a schedule shift to give Space Dandy the prime spot it probably deserves.

Read the whole thing and enjoyed it.

I can agree to the staff workers don't have too much attachment to their own promos, cause they're the ones making them, so they know the finished product before it hits the TV, so the mystique, as I'll put it isn't as high as it is for us viewers.

Read something key in there to me, too, and it's in the same paragraph as what I described above, and that's "We like looking back at old work on occasion, but it’s important to just keep pushing forward when creating." Sure, we can have nostalgia, but for a block like this, I would rather focus on the future and not the past. There's too much now to look forward to. I like that they always come up with something new, it'd a big step in making sure the block doesn't lose its luster and continues to bring fans in.

Lastly, lol @

What is replacing Big O on the schedule or is it rerunning from the start of season 2 again next week?

Ghost in the Shell, although they move FMAB up a slot.

Well, Zap2It's schedule is finally up to Daylight Savings, and...they're not being much help. (They even have it in the wrong hour!)

At least they're not jumping the gun like last year.

It should've ran for as many seasons and episodes as its post-predecessor Uncle Grandpa did.
I wish Imgur wasn't allowed on this forum until the time is right for a return since it's been unavailable in the UK since last September, so I don't see why people use links from the site for here when it's no longer available in the UK and I'm really angry that their parent company made this stupid decision.
Happy 45th anniversary, MTV.
MeTV Toons is a great channel when it comes to classic cartoons, but we know it can be way better. The Duck4Real (me!) elaborates on this in his latest YouTube vlog. Watch it!
