So what's Greg currently working on? We know he finished production on Young Justice months ago and the comic has been canceled, but his last couple of Ramblings say he hasn't been able to answer any questions lately because he's been swamped with work. What's he working on?

A WB rep at the Dark Knight Returns LA premiere I went to did in fact confirm it was cancelled.

Whoa I didn't realize Clone Wars was leaving too. Man, how long before Cartoon Network itself gets cancelled?

But I seriously think CN is on the way out. Look at all the live action series. It's like when The Nashville Network became the National Network then Spike TV. Or Tech TV merged with G4. Or MTV dropped "music" from their logo. I just don't see "Cartoon Network" being able to support itself.

Thundercats had toys that even said "watch on Cartoon Network", sold pretty well around here and they still got cancelled.
Well, that's right nothing was "cancelled" since they were still airing episodes at the time....you just won't see any new ones ever.

I don't think thundercats toys sold all that well, given that they ended up at clearance stores. Young justice did as well, but to a lesser degree in my observations. And these type of shows exist to sell toys.. Efforts were made throughout Static Shock's run to get a toyline going and finally the lack of one meant there was no reason for WB to renew it. If you don't want toys for yourself, consider kids you know and holiday toy drives.

My son will NOT be watching Cartoon network after young justice is gone

also I am tired of the fate of cartoons being so based on toys the economy is DOWN watching cartoons is free!!!
look at it like this, when they pulled stuff in Oxtober Before the Dawn was the number one thing on itunes. When these two shows were cancelled everyone is upset over Young Justive not Green Latern, but Young Justive (forgive me green lantern fans I mean no disrespect), AND the hot topic young justice shirt that was recently released online only was sold out in two weeks!! What does that tell you!!

trying to put a positive spin on this what is your favorite episode of young justive, I love Before the Dawn best I think but I love so muhc more, (Performance, Coldhearted, Satisfaction, Salvage, Darkest, Auld Aquaintance and Bloodlines)

I'm going to go watch young justice episodes and read young justice fanfics now, but only the good ones

Maybe it sold different in different areas. Around here 'Cats sold well and YJ never made it past the second wave that hung on shelves until it went on clearance (I bought Superboy online to get one).

As for Static, well he got 52 episodes without a toyline. That's twice what GL is getting and equal to YJ which had a toyline even if it got canned.

JLU is the only one to have a truly successful toyline. I will point out that Beware the Batman doesn't have a toyline and Teen Titans only had some cheap ones from Bandai(?) but it's coming back (without a toyline)

Geez, people sure are getting all worked up over a TV show. It's not a big deal to me. Yes, Young Justice is one of my favorite TV shows, but it's not like I lost a family member, friend, or a nessecity. I know I'm repeating myself, but is Young Justice really that darn important?

As for me, I still have shows on Cartoon Network to watch, in addition to many other shows on other channels, both animated and live-action. I'm more concerned about stuff happening in real life than a show.

Also, is whining about it on some Internet forum going to make much of a difference?

Its a form of entertainment. Threads/Forums are used to form opinions/discussions/debates on particular topics. You won't miss YJ. I get it. Some people are more invested than others. If the NBA "disbanded", I wouldn't shed a tear. If Nascar caved, big deal. If COD tanked, hallelujah. But, just cuz I'm not interested in those forms of entertainment, doesn't mean I should sneer at those who invest in said hobbies, etc. That gaming website adriasang went under. People cried. They moved on. What if TZ collapsed? Many people use this place as a centralized hub for news/discussion. "Its not a big deal to me" M'kay.

You created an account here. You saw value in this place, also known as "some internet forum". You invested time here, and that same investment can be found in those who appreciated Young Justice.

Mr. Yojimbo also asked me pretty much the same questions as you did. I had a lengthy conversation with him a few pages back.

I'll just repeat some of what I said to him:

Just because I'm more concerned about real life doesn't mean I have zero interest in TV shows. If I wasn't interested in them, I wouldn't be watching them or talking about them. Why else would I be a member of this forum, other than it not being wretched hive of scum like other forums I've been to?

I really appreciate Young Justice. I think it's a fantastic show. I got the first season on DVD and introduced one of my friends to it (He loves it ) I just feel like I shouldn't get too into the show and become all fanatical. (I used to get too into video games when I was little. I had to learn from my father that there just video games and I shouldn't act all fanatical about them. It took me until middle school, but he got through to me. )


About the "some Internet forum" remark, in hindsight, I suppose that was a little harsh . I think that if you have a complaint, then take that complaint where the people calling the shots can more easily notice it, like an e-mail or a letter or something like that. You gotta make yourself stand out, get your voice heard. I mean, are Internet petitions that effective? Not really.

About the new upcoming shows, I look forward to them, though I'm much more interested in Beware the Batman than Teen Titans Go (I never was much of a fan of the Teen Titans cartoon).

Not surprised. And as I learned a long time ago you can't expect a network to keep its promises based on brand loyalty. Just because you're a fan doesn't mean squat to them.
And complaining about the choice of direction has little effect.

Sterring away from shows that might be successful doesn't guarantee you'll get the show you love back either.

Oh well.

I can't believe there are still people out there who think they can "save" a show after being canceled with petitions or other such nonsense.

Haven't we learned by now that 90% of the time that when a show is canceled, it stays dead? Haven't we known that CN canceled all their shows prematurely? Didn't Marvel fans just go through the same thing with Spectacular Spiderman and X-men?

I remember this ridiculousness when Justice League and Teen Titans ended back in 2006. And before that B:TAS/S:TAS and Batman Beyond.

Seriously, why do people go through this same exact denial every single time a show gets canceled? I understand people are upset and I am too, but again, we've gone through this countless times in the past already.

Personally, I think Change.org should get sucked into a void, but whatever. I think some idiots actually sent a petition to the White House about the new DmC game because they are that whiny about it.

I think with social media, fans just feel empowered to do silly petitions or Twitter campaigns. And I mean yeah its not without some measure of merit, the Toonami block did come back, but that wasn't exactly reviving a certain show as an animation block that was around for several years, went away for a while and then came back. But a petition isn't going to revive a show like this.

No, it's not. It's inspired by Teen Titans, same VA cast and what not, but not canon to original series.

I'm not sure how it helps, but its a free web. The petition and the tumbler blog isn't going to work. Cartoon Network wouldn't even acknowledge why the hiatus happened several months ago. Nothing short of the season DVD sets selling millions of copies will get them to take notice.

Scott Neitlich at Mattel once pointed out that fans on the net can be loud and not numerous. If they got a poll with 8,000 people saying they wanted and would buy an Illumina action figure from Masters of the Universe Classics, they would make one.
