This is real big for Cartoon Network, picking up Sonic Boom, as it's set to debut in Fall 2014. Now for voice-over talent, I'm still thinking Bobb'e J. Thompson as Sonic, Greg Cipes as Knuckles, Zendaya as Sally Acorn and Kevin M. Richardson as Dr. Robotnik- we'll see how it all plays out, but I have a feeling there will be more big announcements for upcoming programming on CN, so on that note, stay tuned.

Someone posted a link from the Facebook page which states that the video game cast is providing their voices for the show.

In response to this and all the others that concerned Knux's appearance, I was hoping that maybe his shadow was of a new character. I honestly tried to justify that but there's no denying that's Knuckles... and he is MASSIVE.

Looking forward to the revealing of the actual character designs even more now...

I think this is cool. And I'm glad the series will focus more on comedy. The worse thing anyone can do with Sonic is make it serious. I don't want it to be like AOSTH, but I want it to be slapstick and Looney Tunes-ish.
Even though there is a huge chance that the designs will change (including the show's title), that is an interesting direction they're going with Knuckles. Even Sonic's design looks tweaked. Why are they even giving him a jacket? That's just one more thing CG animators have to animate.
Of all the third-party acquisitions Cartoon Network has gotten in the past few years, this is the best one. Sonic has a huge (and somewhat creepy) fanbase. And if something as lame as Sonic X can still bring in huge ratings, then this should be a hit!

As far as I can tell Cartoon Network's only involvement with this is in the broadcasting stage, which probably means Saturday mornings.

Because this show is going to CN and not the Vortexx on the CW, there is a very real possibility that two Sonic shows will be on the air simultaneously. Sonic X has aired almost continuously for many years, I see no reason why they won't stop airing it in the near future. It's unfortunate because Sonic Boom easily could have replaced Sonic X.

Maybe Saban work out a deal? Kind of like what's going on with Digimon Fusion and Power Rangers, except the other way around. Kind of like what the Hub does to get some other tv shows.

I imagine Knuckles will be 16 years old still, but what are they going to do with Sonic, Amy, and Tails?

I understand your meaning for the most part, but I'm just saying: there's a difference between a show "being" a comedy and simply "focusing more on comedy". You see, the latter can mean anything. Generally speaking, if it's a comedy that focuses more on comedy (by which I mean the comedy "element"), it will be no different from certain other (nameless) shows airing on the Cartoon Network and elsewhere which have the same unfunny jokes and lampshade hanging with nothing else to go for it. Even Adv./Sonic isn't about just comedy. While it is the main focus, it's about other things, too, and I hope this show, assuming that it will in fact be a comedy, will be about more than just the comedy part of it.

Also, I don't know about TOON airing this. Is it going to use the "two shorts" format, because if it is, I'm hoping that they'll premiere actual half-hour episodes, and not just individual segments like they've been doing with other shows recently. Secondly, I hope that TOON will actually "promote" (for lack of a better word) this show as something that some of us can actually watch by ourselves without requiring "parental guidance", if you catch my drift. Oh, and one other thing, comedy or not, I'm hoping that the show won't be biased towards superficial "realism", because video game, TV show or otherwise, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has never been about realism, or lack of it (that said, some of the games have been known to be "unreal" in some ways). Apparently, Sega is going to be on hand to ensure that the show "remains true to the characters and canon". Either way, I'm hoping this will be an actual Sonic the Hedgehog series (which, with all due respect, I felt all three of DIC's shows were in some way or another, yes even Sonic Underground*), and not just one entity's personal interpretation of the franchise.

I'm certainly surprised that this is airing on Cartoon Network, but that's pretty cool. I can't really judge the designs if we only see the shadows. Focusing on comedy might work. I remember watching The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog when I was little and enjoying it, although it will probably be better to not go that far with the comedy. Still, I'll definitely have to check it out when it premieres next year.

Also, a comedy focused Sonic series is perfectly OK with me. Half our episodes. 11 minute shorts. It doesn't matter. It only matters to me if the series is well written and is of course, funny.

Sonic X aired consistently on The CW morning block for years now. It may be lower rated, but it's constantly there. Tune in at 8:00 a.m on the CW Saturday mornings and you'll see Sonic the Hedgehog. It would have been an easy swap. If CN chooses to air premieres on Saturday mornings, Saban Brands could counter by moving Sonic X around. It would be like Spectacular Spider-man versus Ultimate Spider-man.

11 minute episodes? Well Sonic is know for his speed.

I'm cautiously optimistic. It's CGI but then again so are the majority of Sonic games now so it could look like the games except for whatever the heck they did to Knuckles.

At any rate, I'm surprised it took this many years for another Sonic cartoon to come along. Sonic X did gangbusters after all.

Well, at the very least, I think this will be better then the recent Pac-Man cartoon, but I remain cautious.
