I don't think anyone from any existing universes,comic book or otherwise,are gonna make an apperance,Marine included. The obvious exception would be out main four heros. It's most likely a new character.

What makes you think that? it's been confirmed since day 1 that game characters beyond Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Knux will appear in Boom's universe.

Yeah,I just remembered that. Thanks for the riminder. That has to be the only choice the SB team made that I have aw problem with. Anyway,I still don't think that's Marine. If anything,I think that's new character.

I knew it. I knew it wasn't Marine. I don't have much of an opinion on Sticks because I don't know anything about her other than her appearance. I wonder if there will be another character named Stones to complement her name.

I honestly don't mind their different looks. After the initial shock wore off, I've grown used to the designs. Other than that teaser trailer, there's not much I can say about the show until it comes out.

EDIT: I found some more info on Sticks. She's not a raccoon, but a badger. She's also rather nuts from living alone for years. Here's the source of the info.

I also wonder why they made her so much like Marine. Okay granted Marine is portrayed more playful or arrogantly youthful then generally insane due to lack of social interaction but based on the snippets we've seen from other characters, I could easily buy Marine in this Sonic Boom Universe being like that. Why have this entirely new character that's a lot like someone whose already been established? It'd be like if they had a red hulking platypus named Crackerjack in the group instead of Knuckles whose main function was to be the seemingly gulliable muscle. What, is it because Marine isn't really the most popular character? Then why bring someone like her in at all? And if it's to introduce some new blood... that's not someone whose going to for better or worse really stand out, especially in an already kind of crazy show. Eh maybe the idea will work better in the actual series and it's not like I hate the character or anything but I don't get the purpose of it. I was never the biggest fan of Sonia and Manic in underground and I really disliked Chris in Sonic X but at least got why they were added and what their roles were and why they were created instead of using already established characters. Not so much here.

I kind of like Stick's design. Aside from Knuckles, most of the new designs still kind of work for me as well.

Well... Sticks is going to be in a Sonic game, unlike Chris or Sonia or Manic. Granted this is a Sonic game developed in America, and not Japan, but still.

I didn't even know who Marine was before we saw the concept art and made those connections, to be fair. Now that everyone has come out of the wood works, hyped that Marine the Raccoon got a new redesign... it's kind of hilariously disappointing that this is just a new similar-looking Sonic character. I've seen the "crazy wild child" shtick before, but I like Stick's voice. I'm half expecting Sonic Boom to be a solid cartoon.

I don't think they were shooting for a Marine look. It was merely a coincidence. This is supposed to be an AU,a fresh start at many different aspects of a Sonic universe. When you bring old characters into a new part of the franchise, all of the strife having to do with them is carried over. Not to mention it would defeat the whole purpose of having a new world to play around with. I've only read the Archie comics 30-54 that were in an edition of Sonic Legacy so I wouldn't understand what's the big deal with Marine. I do know that Archie had a lot of characters many of them being developed to some extent,but there would be no purpose to Sonic Boom if any other characters other than our main four to appear(an exception being lent to Shadow because of SA 2). As StephenKnux has said before that it is a bit dumb to make a similar character design but like I said before it might be incidental. They just couldn't be bothered to research all the 300+ Archie charcters. Yet again,why would you?? Personally,I think the comic would have been fine stopping around the 50s since it followed the fate of Sonic SATAM. I think the SB team is going to add some of the past characters(Chaotix,Cream/Cheese...etc) later on in a theoretical season 2. I thought it wasn't Marine from the start and I couldn't really think of any justification for her being here.

In summation,Sega has opened a new nutless candy bar and they are NOT adding the old nuts to the new bar. It's a(mostly) whole new thing with new ingredients and it's better for the Sonic fanbase to just accept it.

Marine wasn't an Archie character. She was a character in Sonic Rush Adventure for the DS and later appeared in the Archie comics adaptation. Also she's from another dimension, so it was kinda sorta possible for Sticks to be Marine. Unlikely, but possible.

Hmm,I learn something new everyday about this franchise. I'm gonna guess Marine got a big following from the comics since Rush was the only game she showed up or was mentioned in(not counting the whopping three cameos she had. Also,it's not possible since Sticks is a new character. I guess you could make the assumption that there is a dimensional transporter in SB,but I wouldn't count on that.

Sonic is among my favorite video game franchises, so I look forward to see what this show will offer. I remember seeing some episodes of the old Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon back in the 1990's. Stick looks like an interesting character too.

And which exactly are "our" kinds of these characters? The original Genesis games? Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog? SatAM? Sonic Undergound? The Archie comics? Sonic Adventure? Sonic X? The manga series?

We're talking about a franchise which has been around for decades now and which has been interpreted and adapted in a number of different ways, and one which has a collective fanbase that comes from various generations, regions and walks of life, so we can't truly claim that there's an avowedly "right" and "wrong" way to envision these characters. The fact of the matter is that Sonic and his friends can be whatever the heck their creators want them to be, 'cause they're fictional characters.

I really think it would help if folks took off the rose-colored nostalgia goggles and simply viewed Sonic Boom as it's own thing, and not in direct correlation to any of its' predecessors. This isn't the first new interpretation of Sonic and it likely won't be the last.
