Since the Bee and Puppycat Series kicks off in ten days, I figured it was time to start a thread dedicated to it. Bee and Puppycat is the creation of Natasha Allegri and was produced by Frederator Studios(Adventure Time, Fairly Oddparents) for Cartoon Hangovers Too Cool! Cartoons series that consisted of six cartoons(Including Story Wars) in 2013 that was followed up with five more cartoons in 2014. Bee and Puppycat gained so much popularity that Frederator decided they wanted to do a series. Instead of going through traditional channels of selling the show to a network Frederator decided to run a Kickstarter campaign so the public/fans could help pay for the series. They raised enough money to pay for nine addition episodes of Bee and Puppycat, this does not include money that was raised after the Kickstarter campaign was complete, so there may be additional episodes.

Why did Bee and Puppycat stand out more then Rocket Dog, Our New Electrical Morals, Ace Discovery, Story War, and Doctor Lollipop? Why has there not been that much fuss over Cartoon Hangovers newest Too Cool! Cartoons? Perhaps it is because Bee seems to be so much more down to earth. Perhaps because you have characters that you want to learn more about. I think it is because the original Bee and Puppycat cartoon feels like it is part of a bigger series. Because of Puppycats story, you get the feeling of continuity and you want to see where the story is going. The pilot also leaves on kind of a cliffhanger moment at the end. Natasha Allegri was brilliant putting that there because it made the audiance want more. That is not something I can say about any of the other Too Cool! Cartoons.

This series has already spawned a mountain of merchandise including T-Shirts, Bee Cosplay Outfits, Puppycat Plushies, and a Comic Book series. Our expectations are high, and hopefully they will be met.

What do you think?

Bring. It. ON ALREADY.
November 6th, my friend.

Also, I am kinda expecting the series to air every other week with a possible break during Christmas time, like the second season of Bravest Warriors did. However as we still have not heard of the series schedule outside of the third episode premier, that is only speculation.

So Cartoon Hangover launched a preview trailer for the series today. I am really looking forward to this.

... And people are already complaining about the art - style / design changes that were inevitable at some point to keep time and money under control, just like any other business does - if anything, you just wish other businesses out there found a way to make sure they can keep their workers around when trash like this happens! But this is YouTube I'm complaining about.... The place where after awhile, you wish the 1st Amendment didn't exist, even if just IMHO...

I have to say, I'm just not a fan of this Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Clarence trend of cartoons where is just weirdness and strange looking characters saying and doing random things in place of genuine humor and clever writing. It's nice to see a cartoon with a female protagonist for once, but I'm not digging this at all.

I don't like it either, but I can see why people might like it. A lot of these shows have some deep storylines, but they keep the odd, random humor to keep the shows from getting too intense. I'm unfortunately a fan of deep story and drama, so these kinds of shows aren't my cup of tea.
I'll send them my best wishes though for their success.

I guess I'm in the minority since I'd rather just watch a fun entertaining show and get some laughs out of it. Deep arty stuff and drama doesn't appeal to me, and I'm too lazy to want to have to keep track of a whole lot of ongoing plot and continuity. Plus, I'm just tired of every show looking like this; seeing this same aesthetic used over and over again is getting annoying, frankly. This Pen Ward-esque stuff just isn't isn't for me.

I wish the creators well, but I'll be skipping this one.

If there are more shows like these than the more dramatic ones, I wouldn't say you were in the minority :)

I'm noticing how a lot of these Pen Ward-esque shows are coming from folks who worked on Adventure Time. I guess that show has a real contagious effect on what they make afterwards.

I guess I have different tastes than you and your brother because I find all three of those shows humorous and interesting. Yeah they're pretty wild, but I don't think they're nothing but "lol random" as some people say they are.

Anyway I'm pretty interested in this series. I'm always on the lookout for more digital shows to watch, especially ones with non-white and/or female protagonists.

First two episodes are out. Same formula as the pilot. The first one is a slice of life comedy, and the second is where they go on a temp job. My guess is that they will stick to this formula for a while until the season finale.

Episode 1: Food

Episode 2: Farmer

I really like the art style in this. It feels more polished then the pilot. The backgrounds are amazing. Great amount of funny one liners, too. The storytelling was once again great and made you feel for the characters. If I have to complain about any of the animation it is when Bee is stomping about, looking mad. It looks like she shrinks and becomes Lucy from Peanuts. If I have a complaint about any of the writing, it will be this, and this is my issue with Sofia the First and Doc McStuffins. It is secrets that don't have to be secrets because it isn't told that there a consequences for telling these secrets. With Sofia, it's that she can talk to animals and get advice from other Disney pricesses(Although Mulan is not one). With Doc, it's that she can bring toys to life. With Bee, it's she takes temp jobs in different universes. Why the secret? Show other people that, hay this is what I do, and it could help complicated situations, a lot. Anyway, I am just nit picking. It's a solid episode for me, very good and very clean.

I watched'em too out of curiosity. They were certainly good, but good gracious, these Adventure Time offspringers like SU and this one have too many warm, pastel colors and complex backgrounds. It's beautiful as a static illustration, but it's kind of distracting in animation.

Like AT, the dialogue is my least favorite thing. It sounded like they recorded the voice actors reading the scripts for the very first time and called it a day. Or just scribbled some words on a post-it note an hour before. I guess it succeeds in making it sound organically awkward, but I suppose from a screenwriting POV, it's a little lazy and kind of annoying when we have characters trail off for the hundredth time while talking and start pronouncing words weirdly and repeat themselves. As if these shows simply CANNOT have a protagonist who isn't clumsy and awkward.

That being said, I'm a little interested in this adorkable story. It has a certain charm to it. It's very good, not entirely for me, but I can probably deal.

These episodes were pretty good. Shame there's no dates for upcoming episodes.

Bee sure is a woman-child loser. It's odd that in some scenes, she looks younger (which is surprisingly appropriate considering her personality). I liked how Deckard and his sister discussed Bee's immaturity. I wonder if she will get some character development.

I'm really enjoying this show. It's quirky yet calming, and sometimes Bee gives off an almost Miyazaki-inspired design.

I love how this show manages to be adorable, yet with some incredibly disturbing undertones

So a month after the premier of Bee and Puppycat the Series we have episode number 3, or 5 if you count the two pilot episodes. Why did it take so long between episodes. Maybe it's because the uploaded two episodes on the same night instead of waiting for two weeks before uploading the conclusion of the two parter. Maybe they will air episode 4(6) in two weeks, maybe a month, who knows? Anyway, here it is.

Now what have we learned. Bee doesn't like water which could indicate that she may be afraid of it, cannot swim or both, which could be a preview of what she may have to overcome it the next episode. A running theme seems to be Bee's obsession with food. Bee's apartment manager, for some reason, is a kid. I'm not sure if that is a joke or not, and the real apartment manager is the kids parents. And Cartoon Hangover seems to be pandering to people who like to post their catch phrases on their comments section by having a crab yelling cleavage at least five times. Any guesses how long it will take before that becomes a shirt on welovefine.com?

Anyway, I know some people have a problem with the new character designs for the series and some of the backers have stated that they regret backing the series because of it. All I have to say is, welcome to the world of broadcast advertising folks. That is what Kickstarter for this series is. Advertisers on TV will see a show and pay for new episodes with their own money if they like it or think that it can lure people who watch it to their product or service they are selling. With the exception of selling things, this is much like how people paid for new Episodes for Bee and Puppycat on Kickstarter. Even though they may have paid for the new episodes, they are not entitled to control the content, art design, and dialog of the show. That is all up to the creater of the series and the studio itself. The major difference between a advertiser on TV and a person backing a Kickstarter project is that if an advertiser does not like the content of a show they have backed, they can always pull out and not pay for future episodes. With Kickstarter, once you paid for the show, you can't back out of it. You take a risk when you give to anything like this, be it a Kickstarter campaigne or a charity, you hope that what you pay for is what you get and if you do not like it, you cannot get your money back. My advice, if you don't like the direction they series took this season, and if they do a Kickstarter for a season two, don't back it, simple as that. Now the creater has publicly stated that she did not like the original designs in the pilot episode and wanted to change it for the series. I can respect her wishes since the series, characters, after all is her baby and she is in the right to do whatever she wants with them.

Seeing as I don't mind the art style changes here (and heavily approve of the ones made in Steven Universe, as well!)... Thank you for putting these nay - sayers in their place(s) with these awesome words. QUOTED. FOR. VICTORY. I honestly I could have backed the show just to help, myself - maybe when Season 2 happens if it does...

I haven't noticed too big a change in the character designs from the pilot(s), apart from the pupils in some characters' eyes.

Is this season going to consist entirely of two-parters?

One hour. It only took them one hour since the episodes release to announce that they have toys and T-Shirts of the crab. Keith Crab Talking Plush Pre-Purchase My guess is, with as much merchandise they have for this series, along with the comic, they won't need a Kickstarter for a second season.

Episode 4 or 6 is now out. Very Spirited Away influenced. I thought Bee was just couldn't swim, but her to be so afraid of water that rather to be licked by cats than take a bath raises a lot of sanitation questions. Just noticed that which each new color Temp Bots screen has, it has a new voice.

In a video posted before, this is Bee and Puppycats midseason final. Cartoon Hangover said that the last 6 episodes will be uploaded later in 2015. They also said that they have 2 new cartoons, do not know if they will be one shot episodes like Dr. Lollipop or Rocket Dog or a full series like Bravest Warriors. They were kinda vague in the details. Speaking of Bravest Warriors, they also said that Season 3 episodes will be 11 minutes long, about the size of an average Adventure Time episode. So I am wonder if something has got to give. Does longer episodes mean less episodes or are we getting the full 12. Guess we'll find out.
