It makes me wonder how old he's supposed to be...
The actor Logan Kim was 16/17 when this was filmed. Amadeus is a teen in the AU of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man which is during its Civil War/2016. Claudia Kim who played Helen Cho in Age of Ultron was around 29/30 during filming in 2013/4.

The current year for the MCU is around 2026 I think. Plus, hard to say when you have to ask if Amadeus was blipped or not. Either late teens or late 20s. But since they used Logan Kim, I'm guessing the former. Late teens.

Pretty solid age-range for him, especially in comparison to some of the Young Avengers :p.

Careful, you just jinxed him into the Young Avengers roster. j/k But I digress. Considering he was an Oscorp intern in YFNSM, it makes sense in mainline MCU he's with Stark Industries. Moreso since Helen and Tony knew each other.

Kind of makes you wonder how YFNSM might be more complimentary to the mainline MCU than we even realized...

"Latest Captain America Conquers Box Office, But The Battle Isn’t Over"

b759dzr7.jpg

"Prior to Friday, all signs seemed to point to Marvel Studios’ latest, Captain America: Brave New World, being a box office bomb. There didn’t seem to be much enthusiasm in the air for the picture, early reviews were mixed, and analysts were predicting a low turnout. It didn’t happen: the movie hulked up to a $100 million domestic take, which expands to $192.4 when you factor in global openings — the biggest weekend of any movie thus far this year.

Cap and his swole red CGI Harrison Ford pal seem to have defied the odds….but they’re not out of the woods yet. Other Marvel films of the recent past with strong openings have sagged hard in their second and third weeks. Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania opened at $120 million, but dipped 70% in Week 2 according to Variety. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love And Thunder also opened strong but then collapsed 67%."

Look the film definitely has problems no doubt but to say this is the worst MCU movie is very over reactionary like it has some good action (ariel), I thought Ross’s story was kinda nice plus I like Bucky actually being there for a good reason instead of just fan service. Most of the reshoots are definitely noticeable tho and the post credit scene with the leader seeing basically battleworld is uh…. not good at all but still kinda fun

Kind of makes you wonder how YFNSM might be more complimentary to the mainline MCU than we even realized...
Don’t know if I like that or not enjoying YFNSM but kinda want it to be more standalone.
When it comes to Cho definitely holding him off till young avengers. Glad he was cut tho as this movie already feels more like it should be a hulk movie and not Captain America (you can make the argument that Civil War is more of an Avengers movie than cap too tho). Personally I would introduce him in WWH and also explain where the hell hulk’s son went (find it so weird they just casually drop him in she hulk)

It was a pretty great experience until I recognized one of the soldiers as Dennis Dinphy aka D-Man who gets killed off immediately. I was so mad I wanted to walk out of the theater and it didn't help the Red Hulk fight felt incredibly pointless considering the lack of overall steaks.

It's pretty clear whoever was the original villain of this movie got removed in reshoots and it feels pretty obvious, the stakes have never been lower, and while Samuel Sterns had a terrific design it was kind of disappointing how he just turned himself in leading into a really bad post-credit scene.

So having seen the movie now, do you think they shouldn't have played their hand in the promos and left Red Hulk a secret OR do you think it wouldn't matter because he would've been leaked anyway?

Notice how a funeral scene was cut guess it was Ross also no diamondback, no big head leader, no Ruth powers, I get that they wanted more winter soldier vibes but a part of me still would’ve wanted to see that version of the movie but it may have been worse than what we already got. Just hope that Thunderbolts* & Fantastic 4 work since these were made after the MCU revision times

IMO this movie will forever be remembered for having the weirdest and most divisive selection of Marvel characters to date

The News Team's Christopher Glennon has a new review up on the front page of AnimeSuperhero.com:

"Review: “Captain America: Brave New World”: An Imperfect Mix Of Old And New"

Red-Hulk-punches-Captain-Americas-shield-scaled.jpg

"Captain America: Brave New World, for those of you keeping track, is the fourth movie in the Captain America franchise (making it the third mini-franchise within the MCU to reach a fourth movie after Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder). This movie is an MCU first, however, because in this case, the hero’s mantle has been passed on to a new lead. So with Chris Evans gone, how did Anthony Mackie do in the title role? He’s certainly believable as Captain America, but one or two things about the movie ended up falling short.

We last saw Sam Wilson in the Disney+ mini-series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where he struggled with the responsibility of taking Steve Rogers’ shield. Sam became a fully realized Captain America by the end of the show, and Brave New World picks up right from there. The movie also followed up on a thread from Captain America: Civil War (from all the way back in 2016). That being the situation of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.

Ross was heavily involved in the Sokovia Accords, which caused the schism within the Avengers, and had an estranged relationship with his daughter, Betty. By Brave New World, he’s president of the United States. Brave New World also continued the story of Samuel Sterns, who we hadn’t heard from since The Incredible Hulk in 2008."

3/13: A listing has the movie releasing in 4K/Blu-ray on May 13.

3/14: It was a solid movie but just lacked that oomph to put it over the hill. It's not as bad as the critics say but yeah, not the best choice of director, the writing needed another punch up, and the movie played too safe with the politics. Sure the strikes might have had a part to play but Onah's inexperience was felt. Once you're a guy in suit against a Hulk, only so much they could do. I'll echo the critique of Sterns just turning himself in to complete his plan. It was great to finally have Betty back but then only for a few seconds over the phone and showing up at the Raft for a visit. US and Japan having tensions felt weird. China would have made more sense but I guess that was a business decision to get it in the Chinese market. Born Again is doing a better job at not holding back with its political themes. Here, it felt too restrained. It was 'ooo, let's do Manchurian Candidate - that's a political thriller that would be cool to reference!' And yeah, would have had more interesting if Bruce was in the mix. One of the dumber things was once Ross turned into Red Hulk, the teams and drones only had bullets to shoot him with. In what world would bullets work?

Really enjoyed the banter between Sam and Isaiah and Sam and Bucky. Isaiah wanting to keep the film on his phone was a funny little touch. Was thinking the same thing when Sam asked him if his team wrote that speech for him. Also a nice little bridge into Thunderbolts* with his quick appearance. 'Sam being a Captain America people aspire to be' connecting with Torres' bedside admission was decently done. Sam calling b.s. on Bucky and the serum in the final fight was hilarious. Had a feeling the Wakandan tech would save his butt in the end but on the flip side, kind of wrong he needed the tech to win. Adding in Esposito as Sidewinder was a smart move. Dude ate up his scenes. Would have liked a whole movie with him as the villain.

Once more, the MCU remains 2 years ahead of us. The White House invite solidified it's during April 2027 as it basically starts on Election Day then 5 months later. Only canon snafu I noticed was they more or less said Sterns was in Ross' custody the whole time when Stern says he worked for Ross for 16 years. But the Fury's Big Week canon tie-in comics established Fury actually had him. So more in actuality, it would have been after the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D., likely Ross made some moves and took him to Echo. The comics were rarely acknowledged but still. Eh! Another military camp used as a front for a secret base, heh.

Ross felt the pressure for the Avengers to return telling Sam "the people" want it. Hmm. Seems like another plant to seed Thunderbolts* and the idea of a government-sanctioned Avengers, woof. Finally addressed Tiamut and pretty on the nose to call it Celestial Island, wonder if that's coincidence they used "celestial" and another seed for X-Men, the introduction of Adamantium.

Sterns calculated the likelihood of a Multiverse war. Ok. Kind of a limp into seeding Doomsday and Secret War but whatever.

Well, and I guess we'll find out soon enough who Ross's VP was since that will be the new President.

My favorite easter egg was the Scary Movie/Leslie Nielsen nod, lol. Callbacks..hm, well the Washington Monument can't catch a break can it?

3 to 3.5/5 at best. Carl Lumbly and Giancaro Esposito were the stand outs for me.

The News Team's Magmaster12 has a new editorial up on the front page of AnimeSuperhero.com:

"Editorial: “Captain America: Brave New World” Killed An Avenger And No One Cared"

captain-america-brave-new-world.webp

"These days without Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow the MCU is reaching the bottom of the barrel of obscure Marvel characters to introduce into their movies. Recently, “Captain America 4: Brave New World” introduced a compatriot of Sam Wilson, Dennis Dunphy, who was one of the supporting characters during his time using the donning the shield. He is a character that dates back to the 80’s, helping Captain America take out the Power Broker, and who would later go on to be an Avenger.

However, I was surprised when, the first time I recognized him as Dennis Dunphy, aka Demolition Man, as it was displayed on his name tag, the movie decided to pointlessly kill him off in his third scene."
