Obviously, the children's audience is the main core, and plus, countries such as the UK have a "spread thin content" approach
Could someone even imagining CN UK carrying Adult Swim?

CN US is a different beast altogether
CN UK was actually pretty close to getting an Adult Swim block back in 2002, iirc. (@RegularCapital could back me up on this.) Prior to CNX launching, they had Home Movies and Baby Blues in the evening lineup. Going further back, there was also AKA Cult Toons and Space Ghost Coast to Coast.

CNX pretty much killed "raunchy" shows on CN UK, just like how Boomerang killed classic cartoons on the channel.

I believe you, but eventually CNX was chosen

Adult Swim on CN would've had to go through the meticulous censorship ITC/OFCOM imposes upon them: not worth it

I believe CNX had the potential to be a great channel, but British tastes are not very into anime and action cartoons/adult mixture
In another market, this would likely have turned into something "better", with time

While an "all-in-one" CN would be great, I realize that the fact the EPG for children is a separate section in many countries, counteracts against this
Plus, in many countries you can't mix easily the two: they would have to have two channels timesharing, definitely, but CN not being 24/7 on the EPG? Problematic as hell

That isnt to say some CN feeds have not tried to have an adult swim block in the past I think of latam America for example

Even Warner TV Next and Toonami, in France, still existing

Albeit not that great, still something: I think France has more of a culture continuum with the rest of Europe, where animes had a heyday in the 90s/2000s

I would have loved to see CNX evolving (not necessarily with that name), after 2006 (after EMEA feeds began dropping the blocks) into more of anime-adult cartoons channel mixture
Think of Toonami US + Adult Swim original content + some movies and acquisitions to top the offer off, kind of like certain channels in France such as Nolife, Game One etc...

But British commercial TV, while clever in many departments, is more into the lifestyle content/channels especially now (or just that type of content is niche)

France is just its own microcosm for that type of channels (also, Game One my beloved, the best channel that ParGlo happens to have in general (well, that and J-One!)).
I wish they could have done the same in Italy, here Adult Swin is a real ????, no one probably has idea what that is.

In most of emea (I think the "mea" part especially) adult swim is pretty much non existent

There were content from Adult Swim on OSN app (Nowadays called OSN Plus), and also, they had a pop-up channel in 2021. I think they still have content on streaming service. Sadly, there isn’t any permanent channel for the content. If Warner TV replaced TCM MENA/Greece, there would be a home for AS content.

there was no Adult Swim branded block in the Middle East though unfortunately you can say the same thing for most of Africa except South Africa via the Showmax streaming service

there was a Adult Swim block on TNT Africa but that didn't last long

Adult Swim just can't find success in most of emea and anyway most of the program they air is just acquisitions they can elsewhere in Europe and Beyond

From what I hear, original PAL prints of "Cow and Chicken" season 1 were mastered similiarly to Season 1 of "Dexter's Lab" (opening, title cards and credits are in NTSC pitch, while the episodes (with some exceptions) themselves are PAL pitched). They must have made new PAL masters (where everything was PAL spedup) before the first dubs from PAL region were made in 1998.

Probably most you aren't aware of the fact, but "Cow and Chicken" series premiered on European CN earlier than in US, already in... January 1997.

Another noticeable thing in the continuity is that they after a "Cow and Chicken" episode (at 6:32) they accidentally aired a We'll Be Back bumper for "The Addams Family" (1992). By that time they already retired the WBB bumpers and replaced with CN logo idents on black and white backgrounds.
So it's safe to say this was ACTUALLY recorded in January 1997 (that Cow and Chicken promo showing clips from the pilot episode "Not Smoking")

Yep, they sure did air Home Movies and Baby Blues, the channel was well rounded back then on who it was trying to appeal to, although when Space Ghost: Coast to Coast first aired in the mid 90s it aired on TNT instead:

Late 2003 saw a lot of change of how British Broadcasting regulations is structured and organised, the ITC (Independent Television Commission), BSC (Broadcasting Standards Commission), and other communication offices merged into what is now known as Ofcom, and with that, the Broadcasting Code was established, which included the "likelihood of a child watching" rule. 2003 also coincides with CNX's launch. Before 2003, Cartoon Network has to tone down Dragon Ball Z to meet the ITC regulations because of violence, it's likely that CNX was launched to handle these issues. Ofcom was years in the making though, which was introduced during the then New Labour government.

Before Ofcom, there was a lot of confusion, as the ITC and BSC have a lot of overlap, except that the BSC covered all channels including the BBC, and the ITC offered the broadcasting licences to commercial channels and was also the main authority for maintaining standards on these channels, but this didn't include the BBC.

So basically, if you wanted to complain about a commercial channel, you should direct your complaint to the ITC.

If you want to complain to the BBC, you have to contact the BSC, you can also write to Points of View if it's just a matter of a opinion (the quality of the programming and not just whether it's slightly inappropriate) and it's not a serious breach of the rules.

CNX became a full Toonami channel, which to make a long story short went against it's original vision in 2006 by adding live action shows, This of course later crashed and burned (and took the City era over on CN UK down with it, as the Arrow era began when Toonami UK "regenerated" into CN Too 2.0), The live action "virus" would later go on to infect Boomerang UK for a few years.

so CNX/Toonami was not a success in the uk? i meen CNX only lasted a year

Toonami UK was good at first, 2003-2006 but then in March 2006 they ruined it with the live action, probably to compete with Disney Channel or something. As for CNX, I guess it was a failure.

Hell would have frozen over if CN EMEA had one-year rights to at least Home Movies and later the Adult Swim shows on the 24/7 Arabian and African feed though

Just received word on Discord that CN WE aired the TT GO! episode DC Book Club in Swedish on the Portuguese audio track.

It was Danish, not Swedish; weird though

this reminds me when CN Western Europe in the Portuguese audio track Accidentally broadcasted an episode of Uncle grandpa in Italian (And I don't think it's a fake video the uploader had no intention of lying)

The only time I remember such a thing on CN was seeing CN EMEA air the PPG episode Slave the Day in European Spanish in 2009.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
