CN Ratings Thread: Part 14

Time for a new ratings thread. For the first time in over 10 years, CN is going into the Fall very competitive with Nick and trying to take the number two spot in terms of children's cable networks.

I realized that we are just a few weeks away from new Regular Show and Looney Tunes Show's return. This fall will be a fight for the #2 spot.

Across the third week of September 2012, Cartoon Network ranked as basic cable’s #1 network for Early Prime (7-9 p.m.) delivery of boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14, and #1 in Total Day delivery of boys 6-11 & 9-14. Compared to the same time period in 2011, Early prime delivery of kids 9-14 grew by 14% and Total Day delivery of kids 9-14 grew by 11%. The Cartoon Network premiere of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Saturday, 7-9 p.m.) propelled the network to rank as basic cable’s #1 TV destination that evening among kids 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 and all boy demos. The motion picture presentation also ranked as the #1 telecast of the week among boys 6-11 & 9-14, and the #1 telecast of the day among kids 9-14. Diary of a Wimpy Kid also increased all kids and boys delivery by double and triple digits, vs. the same time period last year.

Among the network’s original animated programming, Monday night’s presentation of Regular Show (8 p.m.) and Tuesday night’s presentation of The Amazing World of Gumball (7 p.m.) each ranked as the #1 telecast of the day among boys 6-11 & 9-14. The network’s newest series, Dreamworks Dragons: Riders of Berk (Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.) also ranked #1 in its time period among boys 2-11 & 6-11, earning double-digit delivery gains among kids 6-11, kids 9-14 and boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 vs. last year’s time period.

Not horrible, but it usually does better. I don't think it was promoted alone. It was in the "Epic Showdowns" promo though.

CN was very fast to renew it for a second season. It was when it was still getting ratings around 1.8-2M. CN never cared about taking their treatment of it into consideration. They wanted to do everything to make it a succes, so they probably felt like they had to take the chance.

OK, I guess. AT usually does better than this. Now imagine if there were a new episode of Regular Show at 8...

I honestly don't think AT does that much better usually. Since it moved to 7:30, we've pretty much only heard about the ratings when they have been epecially high, which is why we hear about them.

what id love to know is that why do kids keep tuning into nick when they keep spamming the same 3 spongebob movies every other satruday morning.. how do they not get bored of the same 3 spongebob movies every week.. it makes no sense that those ratings stay that high for something thats repeating soo often

The ratings are high for SpongeBob because its a program both kids and parents trust and enjoy. The sponge is like television's version of "comfort food". People watch it, even if they've seen it before.

Family Guy is also like this.

Well, at least they beat them, something that didn't happen the past two weeks. Only Redakai, Metal Masters, and DC Nation lost to XD in their timeslots.

I do hope the new episodes change that though.
