But oh man....this was one of the bloodiest episodes of DB! When Piccolo ripped off his arm, there was red blood EVERYWHERE. It practically covered the entire screen.

Also, as a side note, I should mention that as of this episode, in the Japanese version, Ma-Junior is now known simply as Piccolo.

Your list isn't hard to understand at all. We're just contemplating FUNimation's recent odd editing choices. Some are understandable, but some are completely pointless, especially since the edits they're doing now would have been nearly untouched by them in the past. Like I said in one other thread, I have never seen so many "impact" censorship flashes since the Saban days. In fact, I haven't seen any since season three of DBZ up until the Piccolo Daimao saga of DB. And now they're editing for time and whatnot? What?

Really weird.

Didn't Piccolo's blood change to green sometime in DBZ or am I misremembering?

EDIT: I think Funi started cutting a lot more in this past season since they stopped making edited video versions awhile back.

Yeah, sometime in DBZ, Piccolo's blood changed to green. He has red blood when Raditz rips his arm off, but I think his blood is green by the time the Saiyan arrive.

And I can't believe how many impact shots FUNi is removing. This is Saban all over again! All this and more has been done in DBZ.

Today, FUNi chopped up one of my favorite scenes from DB: when on the down count of 9, Piccolo suddenly sits up and launches a huge beam out of his mouth, which blows right through Goku's upper chest. FUNi cropped the initial impact of the shot to only show it hitting the Goku's front, removed all of the blood coming from the wound and dripping onto his arms, and in any shots of Goku's back, FUNi totally removed the hole back there, so no one would know that the blast went through him.

But in the last few shots of the episode, FUNi left all the blood in. Weird. I mean, it was all dry-lookin' anyway, even at the beginning....

I was expecting Piccolo's impale blast to be censored in some kind of way, and given FUNi's recent editing procedures, I figured it'd end up being edited more than it would had the good FUNimation was here. And of course it was. I don't remember any flashbacks in DBZ of this scene, but there was a similar flashback of DBZ in DBZ from the Raditzu episodes. This one, of course, being Piccolo's Makankosappo blast which went through both Raditzu and Goku. Back in the Saban days, this scene was edited much like the way FUNimation edited the scene in today's DragonBall (though it was a bit more obnoxious -- an animated black and white flashing star over the impact area). But in the flashbacks of this scene in the post-season three episodes, we got to see the buldge in Goku's back as well as the blast going through him.

.....Pitiful, They couldnt keep a Driblit of Blood at all. This is getting horribly ridiculous as they act like you can get your legs crushed but no blood can come out. I like Funi but they're getting ridiculous with edits.

It's a lot of edits, but about half of those shouldn't really be unexpected. The other half are questionable though based on what has regularly been in other series.

All I can assume is that FUNi is going to these lengths to edit these episodes so their edited tapes will be different than the uncut tapes.

For those interested, that scene today where Goku flies into Piccolo to finally end the battle WAS shown in DBZ via a flashback. And the whole thing was shown, minus some of the blood. IIRC, some of the flying blood WAS left in. In fact, Piccolo's blast going through Goku's chest was left in its entirety as well. Let's hope for some DBZ repeats so we can see these scenes in their true form!
