Ha, someone managed to leave the island and return to Edo with a monster corpse... somehow. :D

Few more Yamada but now ninja from Gabimaru's clan are on their way...

Tensen are chilling.

Sagiri's group deciding what to do next.

Gabimaru's in legit trouble going against the powered up Aza unless he finally regains his memories and can fix his tao. Toma changing up his grip after the initial whupping - yeah, it's interesting to see how he fights without Aza. Either I forgot or we see the reveal that Fuchi has one sword that looks like a big saw.

Yeah, only real nitpick is it's a season premiere with a lot of talking and no action until the very end.

Episode 2 (15) "Reality and Fantasy" - January 18, 2026
Aza Chobe and Gabimaru lose themselves in battle, but Mei stops their fight.

Mei turned into an adult from using an ability. Huhn. Bit of a Nizuko/Nel type now. But the Tensen probably will try to take her.

Ok, the two groups reunited. She figured out she could heal him, thankfully their tao is compatible. Sagiri has that side to her... and makes Mei blush lol.

Now the memories are returning. Still casting some doubt Yui is real. What a grim ending if Gabi returns home and she was an illusion.

"Lend a hand." Ha ha. Thought this brute was just that but he always surprises you.

Aza was gonna kill them all. Ulp, now he's gotta fight a Tensen, Rien.

Well, that's a fine hello Rien! Just blasting Chobe's arm like that! Though I guess it's the easiest way to ascertain how Chobe has changed and evolved into being like the Tensen.

I guess it goes to show how much Senta's death effected Fuchi that he's not in the mood to kill or dissect anything. Which I guess is good because he's the closest they've got to a team doctor AND scientist, and that means he's the best person to take care of Mei in her condition and converse with her to get to the bottom of what's going on in this island.

Gabimaru has got his memories back but he needs a good workout to warm himself back up...so why not fight everybody? It's also a perfect opportunity to better understand how to fight with and manage Tao. Can he defeat the Tensen in pure Tao? No, but he can manipulate Tao and that might be able to make up the difference. Plus Shion, with his understanding of how the Tao elements work, might also provide another means of beating these twisted plant immortals.

"Man-woman" Toma has resolved to no loner be a hindrance to his brother...and if that means cutting his hair to learn how to truly fight from Gantetsusai, so be it. Sure, he's still planning to kill everybody but his brother, but that's some nice gumption Toma!

Chobe has better mastered his transformation so he can still retain his sanity, and he knows the Tensen's biggest weakness...but Rien also has an army of Rien clones, so he never really had a chance.

Is being tied up while Rien, in female form, undresses to engage in Bochu Jutsu with you the worst thing in the world? Especially when they're willing to make it as pleasurable for you as possible? And they look so stunning and seductive while naked?

This all began when Grandmaster Shufu, or Jokura, sailed to experiment on Tao and began human experiments that lead to the human-plant hybrid known as the Tensen. Yes, the Tensen are beyond humanity, but they also still need to find ways to prolong their life...like making people into kan they can drink or finding the actual Elixir of Immortality that everyone wants. That's right, it DOES exist, even if it's not completed yet.

But what is the Tensen's endgame? What is the ultimate endgoal? Well, other than fully mastering Tao and becoming truly immortal...bring the mainland into their twisted experiments.

The baby Tensen and Rien and Mei taking care of them like a mom and dad looked really cute on the surface...until Rien went off the deep end, grievously wounded Mei to the point where she could barely manage her own body, and now she's facing getting turned into wood.

But speaking of turning into wood...Hoko was never Mei's real father, and he projected onto her the daughter he lost, never caring for her circumtances or what she really wanted. And yet, he truly WAS her father as she was his daughter, and what father wouldn't sacrifice himself for his daughters' life? RIP Hoko, you were a real one.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do...and if having sex with Rien is the best way for Chobe to keep himself alive, master Tao, and get back to Toma...well, who is he to refuse such a proposition? At least Rien is enjoying themselves.

Welcome back Smol!Mei! I'm sorry Gantetsusai never got to have you in waifu mode ride on his shoulder.

Just as this team is...really barely coming together as a team, The Yamada Asaemon and the Iwagakure ninja's show up. Like they didn't have enough on their plate.

Ok, so there is an Elixir of Immortality but it hasn't been perfected yet and once it is, the rest of the world's in trouble. And Shufu/Jokura could even still be somewhere on the island. The clock is ticking as this is the last chance to kill the Tensen before they can become truly immortal.

Chobe is a survivor and him agreeing to Rien's offer isn't that much of a shocker. But a Chobe with greater mastery of his tao sounds like a really bad idea. It is curious based on Rien's reaction that Chobe surviving being turn into tan seems like the only time that's ever happened.

Also as expected, the origin of the island is pretty much a Chinese take on Doctor Moreau. But then how did they learn to speak Japanese? The ninja leader taught them?

And Gabimaru already devising a new way to fight the Tensen.

Well, Rien and Mei were the first of the Tensen but Rien's a psychopath dedicated to making the elixir at any cost. Whereas Mei had empathy and ethics. Dang, Hoko had to sacrifice himself. but curious if Mei can ever be made "whole" again with an unrevealed technique or if they salvage the ovule from another Tensen can they transplant it to her?

But just to throw in more chaos, the next group has arrived. Curious if all the ninja are on par with Gabimaru and if we'll get new insight into their leader and how he got a level up from previously going to the island. And seemed like Shugen can already sense tao.

The dub for this show started, and it is obvious that this will be in the shadow of Jujutsu Kaisen, which is a shame because this battle shonen isn't too shabby in its own right.

Episode 4 (17) "The Samurai Code and Carnage" - February 1, 2026
Sagiri believes Shugen will be an ally and eagerly anticipates the expedition's arrival, but Shion is skeptical.

Shugen is a good samurai buuuut a criminal is a criminal. And seeing his mentor Eizen's corpse upon landing. Brutal, took out the whole gang and their family line. Can even fight without a sword and has a grasp on vitals, tao, etc. And makes his sword jagged for killing like he wanted to since his childhood. Definitely not someone our cast should fight...

Two uncertified but still wicked tough fighters.

Ninja just as hardcore. That one kills himself just to convey their "loyalty" to Shugen. The genin squads were something to see in action. But the top 3 and the woman with the sliced mask we've yet to see how strong they are. Plus, they have their secret mission to kill Gabimaru.

Oof, Shugen can torture that's for sure.

The Shogun wants his Elixir of life, and if that means sending more bodies to the island...he'll do it. Even if that means sending the remaining Asaemon, as well as unranked but as deadly as any ranked Asaemon Kiyomaru (Maaya Uchida!) and Isuzu (Sayaka Ohara!), along with Shugen, Jikka, and a whole bunch of Iwagakure Ninja.

Kiyo-chan is short but more than makes up for it in skill and attitude, even if said attitude is bad and he's VERY confrontational. Isuzu, for her part, is the only other woman in the Asaemon after Sagiri and is surprisingly cute and sweet despite her large stature. But don't get on her bad side.

The Iwagakure Ninja are hardcore. They are tools only to service the Shogun (or their masters') ends...and if asked to kill themselves, they'll sing a song and brutally stab themselves through the neck to fulfill said order. And they're going to that island to finally finish off Gabimaru.

They haven't even made it on the island and they've already lost someone. And the Asaemon are only concerned with their fellow Asaemon and fully prepared to kill any criminal who gets in their way. Is it any surprise Jikka thinks they're just bringing more death and destruction with them.

Shugen is one of the top ranked Asaemon for a reason. Not only is he skilled, but he takes what he's learned from his Asaemon, his cherished comrades and friends, and applies it to himself. Meaning he can defeat a monster without even needing to draw his blade from the Shogun!

Yes, Shugen has a very absolute black and white morality, and is very brutal and uncompromising to criminals...but also he's a really good guy and Sagiri's first crush. I mean, can you blame her? He's the one who believed in her and pushed her to became a ranked Asaemon! Even Isuzu looks like she's crushing hard on him.

I mean, sure, he's the type of person who thinks criminals are corrupt by blood and that means he has to execute their families in front of them...and literally parading the dead corpse of a crime boss' baby in front of him...okay, never mind, they're all probably screwed with Shugen there.

Shugen does not take it well finding Eizen's...half a corpse. Eizen is the one who took him in and was a true mentor who molded him, along with the fellow Asaemon's, back home. The least he can do is give him a proper burial.

Kiyo and Isuzu can agree on one thing: if Shugen is in the middle of something, he will NOT be interrupted. And Isuzu has a Darth Maul katana thing going on while Kiyo is a spinning top of death. The Iwagakure Ninja, for their part, believe in strength in numbers. And Jikka...apparently can't unleash his sword for some reason, a point of contention with Shugen, but he's definitely someone you should keep your eye on. Even if he just wants to get out of there.

Shugen is so ticked off he deliberately chips his precious shogun sword to show how much he's ready to destroy everything on this island like they destroyed the man he adored. That cabbage head is not making it to Chisen after all that torture.

Our main characters need to get the elixir and get off this island, but despite knowing enough about tao that they can use against the Tensen...are they obligated to be a team? When there's nothing connecting them together outside shared interest, and even that's flimsy?

But against Shion's expectations...everyone comes together. Even if it's because Yuzuriha needs meat shields, Gantetsusai wants to fight a Tensen, Gabimaru is logical, Toma wants to find his brother, and Sagiri and Fuchi have their duty...they're sticking as a team! And there was no way Shion was going to ditch Nurugai.

Episode 5 (18) "Humans and Sages" - February 8, 2026
As the expeditioners prepare, Gabimaru asks Mei if she's sure she wants to leave the island with them.

OP and ED subs! Both of them really speak to the mindset of the protagonists, especially Gabimaru!

Okay, so the team has a plan: retrieve the elixir and get the heck off this island! And as it happens, there actually IS a gate and a boat that, if they leave, they can avoid all the sea monsters surrounding the island. Though once again...how did Jikka get off the island back then!?

It's time for Yuzuriha to teach everyone about her ample "charms," although really Shion just wants her and Gabimaru to teach everybody about using Tao (sorry Gantetsusai). Though I love how the moment Shion touched her she acted a bit aroused.

Yuzuriha-sensei looks great in Senta's glasses! Frankly, he'd probably be happy to see her wearing them! And she'll be teaching everyone how to use Tao for stealth, something that can even fool the Tensen! Provided you're not distracted, and Yuzuriha can be VERY distracting, with her thighs, fine behind, and rubbing her boobs against your face. Lucky Sagirin.

Now it's Gabimaru-sensei's turn and he seems surprisingly into it (especially with the glasses). Though imagine treating dislocating your body and teaching that to someone as casually as possible.

Shion and Toma are doing well with the training, and the group knows their Tao type advantages against the Tensen, but despite Gantetsusai and Toma calling each other out, it seems like the group is really coming together! Enough that Sagiri and Gabimaru REALLY want them all to make it out of this alive.

What does Mei really want? To get off this island? Or does she want to make peace with Rien and understand why they and Grandmaster Shufu have seemingly gone off the deep end? I mean, if someone you thought of as kind, as family, ended up perpetrating so much horror...wouldn't you want to know why? It's the only way Mei can ever hope to leave this island behind be normal. And Gabimaru will help her achieve it.

Tao Fa definitely prefers their female form and probably wouldn't use their male form if they didn't have to...though Jun Fa is really flexing some male muscle against Chobe, who has a score to settle with him and can actually hold his own now. But right now Chobe is Rien's new favorite test subject, which means he gets special treatment and gets taken to the research room: home to a horrific giant plant filled with absorbed humans. That's a lot for even Chobe. And now it's time for him to get dissected.

They have to move tonight...when the Tensen are at their weakest and when they have no time left to loose and Gabimaru has a wife to get back too. And of course Yuzuriha is in the most dangerous group, the one she least wants to be in. But it's probably smart to have the Shinobi take point in infiltrating, especially when they're masters of stealth takedowns!

The Tensen all have their own research room where they generally keep to themselves (or in Tao Fa and Jun Fa's case, just bang each other), so avoiding the Tensen and making it to where the Elixir is should be a piece of cake, right? Except Chobe sold them out, because he doesn't care about anybody other than Toma, and what's awaiting them is none other than Ran.

The team immediately get divided...Gantetsusai/Toma/Fuchi end up against Tao Fa and Jun Fa, Shion/Nurugai end up reunited with Zhu Jin (which is probably what they wanted), and Gabimaru's team is left to deal with Ran. They're so screwed.

Crash course in stealth. :D And some fanservice. Yeah, sure just disclocate your head or stop your heart without dying...

Interesting, Mei wants to live a normal life off-island. Maybe she'll be Gabi and Yui's adopted daughter. :)

I suppose Shufu and Rien went off the deep end because all their initial attempts to make an elixir failed and nothing more than repeated failure turns scientists batty.

Chobe would ruin their plan since they didn't consider he was taken by the Tensen.

Now they must do exactly what would jeopardize the plan, fight the Tensen. Here we go. Well, they're supposed to be at their weakest so the humans have a slight chance...

I think the best back up plan is to let the second group catch up and try to snatch the elixir in the chaos and hopefully it's actually done by then.

I think their best advantage is not only fighting them at night but they ostensibly know their type advantages/disadvantages so they know who is best suited to fight which Tensen (on paper).

Episode 6 (19) "Conflict and Growing Together" - February 15, 2026
Gabimaru's group finally enters the sacred mountain, but the Tensen can see everything they're up to.

If the plan was to avoid fighting the Tensen...then it's failed. Time to move on to Plan B where they take on the Tensen with all they've got and don't let up until they've beaten these humanoid plant monstrosities!

Well, at least Ran is polite about how screwed they are and how their lives, as well as possibly other lives, will all be used as tan for the true Elixir of Life. He's also the home improvement Tensen, so he re-arranged everything to surprise everybody! And he's making a pitch for Mei to come back and reunite with her family and Rien. But Mei's made her choice and she's found a new family!

Sagiri and Yuzuriha are going to find the real elixir while Gabimaru and Yuzuriha are going to fight Ran...admittedly Ran is the worst match-up for Gabimaru, but that's what Yuzuriha is there for whether she likes it or not (and believe me, she does not!). Well, other than to show off her luscious legs.

Ran is the most physically adept of the Tensen and can match Gabimaru blow for blow in a martial arts fight, and not even Yuzuriha having a type advantage does any good against him because he compresses his Tao into an absolute muscle fiber defense. How are they going to beat him!?

How convenient that the Tensen have talismans that let them know who is alive or dead, providing a convenient recap of all the characters who died last season and all the current match-ups....and how our main cast is pretty much screwed against their respective Tensen opponents. Shion and Nurugai are driven to avenge Tenza, while Gantetsusai and Fuchi now also have to deal with Chobe being there to bring Toma to his side.

But they were right to fear Gabimaru: he was able to take in everything he's learned about Tao, from all those he's fought now, all those who have fallen, to find a means of manipulating Tao and turning the tables on Ran! He FINALLY does some damage to him! And Yuzuriha is always waiting for an opportunity to make her move!

Was Yuzuriha's boobs running straight into the camera necessary? Of course it was!

Of course, inevitably they were also going to have to deal with the Tensen's Kishikai transformation, and Ran's is especially harrowing because he still has all his martial arts power in his colossus body! He's just faster and stronger! And he's thrashing Gabimaru everywhere and even Yuzuriha got run through by debris.

Yuzuriha is always out for herself and herself alone, she would never prioritize someone else...even if she still tries to get out of there with Gabimaru. And Gabimaru is the same way, right down to how he protects her from Ran and risks losing his life, and his chance to see his wife, against Ran.

Well sure, each Tensen was researching in their own way so of course Ran would use Tao to strengthen his muscles but great full circle moment for Gabimaru to use everything he's observed to figure out a way to counter Ran using his Tao against him and once he resorts to weakening his Tao, Yuzuriha finishes him off. But with it looking good, it goes horribly bad once Ran transforms.

It's getting suss when we see Rien seemingly bowing to the Grandmaster who is in shadow and says nothing back. He's gotta be dead or turned to stone/a tree/something inanimate. Maybe they think the Elixir will bring him back to life.
