Most hated commercial?

You know those MacDonald's commercials where that latent pedophile Ronald McDonald has fun (read: stalks) the kids in some way, shape, or form (he's like the Jason of fast food...and crappy fast food at that).
Me and my friend made up a hilarious scenario with some Ronald pedophilia, but it's kinda adult and shouldn't be mentioned here. ;) All I'll say is, during the scenario Ronald says, "Did somebody say McDonalds?" in a gruff, evil voice.

"Kool" World

Tenshien pointed out about this Kool-Aid commercial and let me just say, I sympathize. I hate the Kool-Aid commercials where it shows all black people because to me that's a horrible stereotype (even though I do drink Kool-Aid once in a while, I mostly drink soda, water, and fruit drinks). The ones with the Kool-Aid man and the kids are a little less blatant in the pedophilia dept. (unlike Ronald McDonald), but I don't care much for them.

I also hate as several other posts have said, those Christian music commercials, the MTV2 Talking Baby commercials, and the Arbor Day foundation commercials. God, they're pathetic. If they disappeared tomorrow, I'd cry...with tears of joy.

DANimals is just stupid. Now, I know this is aimed at nine year old kids, but most nine year old kids can speak in full sentences with at least two syllables in them, minus the words "DANimal" and "Fruitylicious."

There's a commercial for a place that sells sub sandwhiches (no, not Subway, but I do hate those commercials) where two guys sit on a park bench. One has a sub from said place and it is toasted, the other's is not toasted. So toasted sub guy rudely asks if the other was raised by wolves because he's eating an untoasted sub. I think this ad is for (forgive my spelling of the name) Quiznos, or something to that effect. Are we to beleive that all customers from that store have very large wooden sticks shoved up their...*ahem* y'know? They sure are rude.

One good point about it, though, the other guy then gets very smug and says, "Yes, yes I was raised by wolves. Hmm." It would have been much better if he then beat the other guy with his untoasted sub and took the toasted one.

I hate that commercial too. It is downright nasty.
I mean, Ewwwww! What I would like to know is who was the person that came up with that idea?

"I wanna ride in a chariot!"

Is that what he said? I don't remember the exact words.

About "unmentionable" body function product ads (such as tampons)-
I know most of them are corny, but remember there are people who buy those products. Just because you're not the target consumers doesn't mean there are no consumers. Companies need the advertising and the ads can help inform the target audience that the product is available. It's ok if you have a valid reason for disliking the commercial, but "I don't need to see this" just seems a little self-centered to me.

That Greek Danables commercial was fricken confusing. It just starts out with "I wanna ride the charriot" as 2 kids and a Lion go down a hallway. Next a statue salutes them as they grab his shield. Then they fly in the air as Zeus throws lightning at them with the biggest smile you've ever seen and is blocked with the shield. Finally their famous slogan kicks in and I die of a tumor.

MY concern is why this seemingly nice rabbit is so hopelessly addicted to Trix? I refuse to touch the stuff lest I end up like that.
Funny you should mention that because I read somewhere that Malaysian doctors found a substance similar to heroin in Trix cereals. I don't know if it's true, but it makes you think...

Anyway, I should have mentioned this before, but I absolutely can't stand those Ovaltine commercials with the whitebread upper-middle class parents and kids who can't act. At least be realistic.

My idea: Show a poor/low class family (of any kind) collecting dirt in an Ovaltine cannister in their evicted apartment/house that they still live in despite threats of eviction and litigation from not paying rent and they mix the dirt in with month old milk and as they choke it down, a wrecking ball comes and takes out the whole lot of them.

Here's one I saw today:

This hyperactive, way-over-the-top, and ALWAYS smiling couple is prancing around in their living room, naming places they want to go for a vacation with bad acting. "Mexico? France?" And then, in the most annoying way possible:

"HAAAAA-WAAAAIIII-EEEEEEEEEEEE!"

I haven't yet seen the Quiznos toasted sub commercial you're referring to above, but it DOES sound needlessly mean-spirited. How is that going to attract customers- by insulting them? The ironic thing is, I found the original Quiznos to be hilarious (you know, the ones with the crooked researcher). "Test subject, what would you like? This Quiznos toased sub or this untoasted sub with lettuce?" (Lettuce is actually money; the man quickly grabs the money) "Mmm-hmm! Clearly prefers the UNTOASTED sub with... the lettuce." Or the other one, "How far would you go for a Quiznos toasted sub?" (shows a Quiznos across from a super busy freeway) "I could get hurt!" "Wouldn't even cross the STREET for a toasted sub!" They've gotta have that guy in more commercials- he's got great comic timing. While I'm on the sub soapbox, here's a commercial I am thorougly sick of: The Subway one (which actually started airing LAST YEAR- and they're still showing it!) with the guy in the elevator and a fellow employee says "So how was lunch, Bob?" "MAGNIFICOOOOOO!!!!" It was cute the first time but it quickly got tiresome. They ruined a good opera song, too, by singing "Subway, eat fresh" at the end.

My least favourite ads right now are the ones for that "Tubes" yogurt. (Yogurt in a grab and go tube). There's a whole series of these, but the gist in each one is someone's stolen someone elses "tubes" and when they try to deny it, their voice sounds like they're speaking through a hollow tube.

eg. Kid: Dad, did you eat all the tubes?
Dad: *sounding echo-hollow-tubey* What's a tube?

Kid: Mom, why didn't you pack a tube in my lunch?
Mom:*sounding echo-hollow-tubey* Sorry, we're all out of tubes.

Guh. Annoying!

Anyone like the U.S. Cellular commercials that aired a couple years back with the glasses-wearing guy talking to the uninterested salesman? "I would like to buy a phone. A... a cellular phone." "Here's a cool one." "Ah! Cool's good!" "Here's another cool one." "Uh, enough with the coolness, more about the features." "Put it up to your ear. Like that. See? You look cool." I found those pretty funny, even if they repeated them a bunch of times.

I've never heard of that one. Did that come on in another state or what?

Then there's that Honey Combs commercial with Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf. After I while I was chanting "Eat the girl! Eat the girl!"
That wasn't Honey Combs; it was Honey Nut Cherrios.

Ooh, and let's not forget "Watch it float in MIDAIR! GOOO, YAFFA!!!"
Oh, the horror! The HORROR!!!
Amen.

To the people who hate the AOL commercials, I hate all of them too, except for the one where Carson Daly (that tool from MTV who hosted TRL) tries to get into this club, but the bouncer tells him that he's not on the list. Then the AOL running man gets in front of Carson and the bouncer recognizes him and lets him in. Then all the girls who were around Carson follow the AOL running man into the club and at the end of the commercial, Carson still can't get in. I guess I like this one because Carson is finally shown as the uncool loser he really is. It's a shame this commercial doesn't air during one of MTV's many 10-hour commercial breaks.

Some other commercials that I hate:

-There's this one where this little kid has two glasses of milk and a pack of Oreos and he keeps spilling the milk. What a waste of milk!
mad.gif
If I were that kid's mother, I'd whup his punk ass, make him clean up the milk, and eat all of the Oreos for myself.

-The one for this board game called Fib Finder where these girls grill this one girl on her secret crush. The girl getting grilled confesses that her crush is on her friend's brother and it ends with the shrill, prepubescent giggling of the girls. That, IMO, should have been more like Jerry Springer (with chair throwing, bleeped-out words, people chanting "Jerry, Jerry!", and fist-fighting).

-This Christmas Ronald McDonald commercial that came on when I was really young. It's about this girl who runs away from home and on the way, she sees Ronald. Ronald asks her why she's leaving home and she says that "everyone says I'm too little". That one was so sappy, I wanted to wipe my tears with a pancake.

The new Barbie commercials. The old ones were bad enough, but now they're trying to give Barbie this hip new look.
The old Barbie commercials were way better than this new crap.

In one commercial, there's this guy rapping in the background, and I KNOW I heard him say "I'm down with her [Barbie] and my name ain't Ken."
Dude, I gotta listen to that one again.

And now there's this Cheerleader Barbie. It's disgusting.
Not as disgusting as the commercials for Bratz!, Diva Stars, and Flava Dolls (my sister said Flava Dolls promote teenage sex in some way, but damned if I can find it. Maybe it's because of the girls in midriff bearing shirts and jeans that show off their big round black girl butts...if any).

With you on that one. I especially hate the one where the juror has to go to the bathroom. After taking the stuff, they show her standing in front of the rest of the jury in a room. I'm not sure what they mean to imply that she is doing. I hope that taking whatever it is that she took had no effect on the outcome of that trial. A person's life could be at stake.

"Take Immodium AD and put that guy away for life."
Those "Gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now" commercials aren't for Immodium AD; they're for some bladder control pill (Detrol, for anyone who wants to know). For once, in those commercials, I wanted someone to have an accident (and DYN that the people who have to go in those commercials are women. What about men or even kids?)

And there's this one I don't get: The commercial was for a patio building kit. This married couple gets their kid to make margaritas(?) for them. At the end of the commercial when the couple gets their drinks, they react to how nasty it is. What happened? Did the kid pee in it? Did he make it too sweet? Did he spit in it? What? Someone tell me!

I searched this thread looking for any mention of the "new" Juicy Fruit gum campaign...but found little or no mention, sorry if this is a repeat.

I really (REALLY) hate that commerical that shows a girl opening up a pack of Juicy Fruit gum (at school) and she is suddenly mobbed by other kids whining "Gimmie some!". At this point the gray haired spokesman chimes in and starts talking about this "car door" that can be used to deny the beggars access to her gum. It basically shows this girl opening up her gum again, but when she is mobbed, she simply rolls up this car door window (attached to actual car door) that appears to be hanging around her neck (?). Then the spokesman says "Whoa, denied!" or something to that effect.

Now...don't get me wrong, I love commercials that are a bit odd, or kooky...but this is by far one of the stupidest things I have ever seen. It's not funny at all. Chewing gum + girl + cardoor does NOT equal good laughs. Oh, and the new packaging for this gum is terrible...they should have left it alone.

I want to add in another recent commercial - those ads for the walkie-takies from Nextel are really bad. In one, they show them using them in a wedding, and in another there is a "Romeo and Juliet" parody where they use them and go through the play in thirty seconds. Those commercials are ignorant. Why do they need them if they are just steps away from each other? (i was watching this at my parents' house while watching football; if my mother was here, she would probably go on for a couple of paragraphs on this)

I also forgot about this, and I can't believe nobody has mentioned this: Those Shedd's Spread Country Crock ads. Where the two people are talking and they incorporate the product into the ad, but all you see are their hands? They even added a baby a few years ago. Very corny.

And those Pine Sol ads with the fat woman telling you about the product? Those are annoying.....(does his impersonation of the lady in the ads) Let me tell you something, girlfriend, you have got to shut up and realize that you aren't my mother!

The Philips Milk of Magnesia ads are kind of like that too. So this wife is complaining because her husband is constipated - big deal! Don't tell me about his personal problems, it's none of my business.

That Radio Shack ad where Cal Ripken Jr. hears that his new neighbor is named Ozzie....I knew where this ad was going to go the first time I saw it - Ozzy Osbourne was going to be involved in some way or another, and he was! This ad is completely predictable, and it proves once again that Ozzy Osbourne has destroyed his image as a rock legend.

Is that the one with Jack Riley (the guy who plays Stu on Rugrats)?

Yes! I thought I was the only one who hated them.

Yeah. We don't need to hear that crap (no puns)

Rock on!

That stupid VISA ad where George Steinbrener asks Derek Jeter how the starting shortstop of the Yankees can afford to go out every night dancing, dining and going out with friends.

Am I the only one that wants to yell HE'S THE STARTING SHORTSTOP FOR THE FRIGGIN' NEW YORK YANKEES!!!? The guy's a millionaire, of corse he can afford to spend just about as much money as he wants. Having a VISA card doesn't come into the equation in the least.

If a baseball team owner had to ask that question the players would strike faster than the Detroit Tigers strike out.

One with these old, happy itallian women doing backflips and jumping for joy in slow motion. It's annyoing and gross. I think it's advertising pasta sauce.

WHOA! Denied!

One of my favorite commericials is for this medicine for constipated people.

*An old black man and his wife are outside at night*

Wife: Oh, I just love nature.

Man: Except when it stops.

Wife: *stunned* YOU'RE CONSTIPATED?

Man: MARRRRIEE!

*ranting by announcer*

Like Sex For Chocolate

I had to bring this back up for a reason: My sister kept telling me about this one Milky Way commercial where this guy is in a (legitimate) massage parlor and he keeps groaning in ecstasy from eating a Milky Way. My sister kept saying, "Who would want to get off on a candy bar?" Hands down worst commercial ever.
