Sci Fi is renewing its “Ani-Mondays” block with three U.S. premieres added to the slate: toon series “Gundam 00,” “Gurren Lagann” and “Strait Jacket.”The 25-episode “Gundam 00” is the latest in the “Mobile Suit Gundam” franchise; Bandai distribs the series in the U.S., and the Sci Fi cablecasts will rep the English-language preem. The show is popular with young male demos and tends to attract vidgame advertisers. It is also the first “Gundam” series to be produced in high-def.
“Gurren Lagann” is a similar, robot-heavy property, running 27 episodes, while “Strait Jacket” is a sci-fi/fantasy hybrid consisting of three 30-minute episodes that the net will run together as a 90-minute movie.
The shows come from Starz Media’s anime distrib arm, Manga Entertainment, which has just inked deals with Bandai and financially embattled Central Park Media, which provides reruns of “Black Jack” and “MD Geist.”
“Ani-Monday” will kick off in July with “Gurren Lagann,” among others, and is skedded through December. “Gundam 00,” which also will run through December, and “Strait Jacket” will preem in October. The block runs from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.

NOW AND THEN, HERE AND THERE is also going to be playing on the 28th right after Lagann. I'm not sure if it already aired on Scifi before or not, but I don't recall ever watching it on the network. While it's nothing new to the US, I thought it might be worth noting

Don't recall it airing before.

Now and Then, Here and There hasn't aired on Sci Fi, but it did air on Anime Selects. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in the article, considering it's still newer than Macross Plus. I hadn't heard of Strait Jacket before, much less that Manga had the rights to it, so we did get one new title out of the article.

N&T,H&T!!!! FTW. One of my favorite animes of all-time. I'm glad it's going to get some big exposure although I'm guessing some will be turned off by the oldish animation. Screw them though
:D

Well I will have my VCR set for GL. I'm not sure about Gundam 00 I have yet to like a none UC universe Gundam.

Yeah, those parts made me wince. Well, at least Black Jack is confirmed to be airing at some point.

I know! It's so FTW. I had no idea it was even under consideration to be played on Scifi, but I guess now with 00 and Lagann and the rest of the bunch, they figured it couldn't hurt. Goodbye are the days of only MANGA ENT. licensed shows!

I'm not one for old animation and am usually turned off by it in most cases, but this anime is probably the only one out of the bunch that I really, really loved despite the fact. Plus, it really isn't even that 'old fashioned' in terms of the animation. It looks pretty good compared to some shows.
I can't wait to hear the publics response to it.

From the looks of it, "Now and Then, Here and There" is a NY dub by Central Park Media. I'm intrigued to watch it, mainly because I'd like to see more NY dubs with NY VAs that aren't by 4kids. Still, it's awesome that Manga Entertainment shows only is pretty much done.

Strait Jacket...never heard of that one.

Still waiting for Gurren's epic to hit TV's everywhere.

This is new news. I'd been wondering what was up with all the CMP stuff coming to the block and that is the first official news item on it I've seen. As to why they didn't mention Then and Now - who knows? It's Variety - they may not have realized that Then and Now coming to SciFi was actually news.

Straight Jacket is a new Manga Ent. release, coming this fall. It was just announced in the last few weeks, so that's why few have heard about it yet.

I wish Imgur wasn't allowed on this forum until the time is right for a return since it's been unavailable in the UK since last September, so I don't see why people use links from the site for here when it's no longer available in the UK and I'm really angry that their parent company made this stupid decision.
Happy 45th anniversary, MTV.
MeTV Toons is a great channel when it comes to classic cartoons, but we know it can be way better. The Duck4Real (me!) elaborates on this in his latest YouTube vlog. Watch it!

WB has done so well with releasing the Paramount Popeye cartoons on home media that they should be chosen to distribute the long-delayed animated Popeye film that at various points was to be made by Sony and directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (who has a long association with WB sister property Cartoon Network).
