Nickelodeon Schedule Discussion, Part 2

1. Nick probably nixed the iCarly and Victorious episodes because SaC already has major ratings momentum and they don't need to air "old shows" to get viewership. No point in airing either show if SaC and the reunion buzz is as strong as they are.

2. I bet Nick realized that their movies are getting lost at that 9 p.m. Sunday nights. They aired The Spiderwick Chronicles, which is much closer to their Nick demo. Maybe we'll see Nick nab more Paramount movies and air them during weeknight scheduling. Makes sense to me. Versus airing movies that could potentially score good ratings during the Sunday night deathslots.

3. I'd say ATV has a 10 percent chance of getting renewed. I think Nick is trying to see how ATV repeats do after TTM repeats. If they do well, they might renewed and add to the Saturday night lineup. But generally, I'm sure its over.

And it's OFFICIAL - KFP has a premiere on Sunday, Jan. 26, at 11:30 a.m. after TMNT. MvA is back at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, and will be done by Feb. 8.

Nick will have (FOP/SBSP)/SJC/BW/RI Saturdays and (SBSP)/TMNT/KFP Sundays. With shorter premiere lineups, the viewership is more likely to stick with the whole block.

It's a little risky moving TMNT/KFP to Sundays, which have unpredictable ratings for Nick. But with NFL Football done Feb. 2, and with proper advertising/promotions, there's no reason the TMNT/KFP can't succeed. This is as good of a pairing that Nick could put out. Action/comedy/CGI/animation and two very popular franchises. I hope the two shows do well together. Great move by Nick.

From TV Guide, Power Rangers Super Megaforce is premiering on the expected date of Saturday, February 15, but at the unexpected time of 12pm, up one hour, and into the space where 2011 Samurai mostly aired. I get the feeling Saban Brands is paying a premium to Nickelodeon to have it moved up one hour, possibly a result of the 2016 extension agreement.

However, I also noticed the TMNT premieres are moving to Sundays in this thread. I can think of a very big reason why Nickelodeon would move the show there, and not place it close to PR premieres on Saturdays: merchandising. Nickelodeon can make more off TMNT merchandise than they could ever hope to with PR, and they probably also are reluctant to air a show featuring another company's products, like Bandai for PR toys versus Playmates for TMNT toys. That's why I feel Nickelodeon management will try to keep TMNT and PR premieres as separated as possible. Also, TMNT will occupy a half-hour that once had Marvel Universe on Disney XD airing against it, but since that has moved, there's more incentive for Nickelodeon to try mid-morning Sunday premieres now.

One thing I noticed I forgot. Was Fairly OddParents at 7AM aired this morning? Was The Thundermans airing 7AM yesterday? And next week is FOP at 7AM?

That's surprising. Basically begins the week after MvA is done. The 12 p.m. is gonna help ratings a lot as it premieres alongside the morning Nicktoons instead of on its own at 1 p.m. But thats if Nick decides to advertise it in block, or advertise it at all. You would think there would be a lot of hype surrounding the Power Rangers war. Might be worth investing more in this season.

Your theory on TMNT and PR airing apart makes sense. Either way, TMNT/KFP should do well paired together.

The new promo for TMNT this morning made the move to Sunday seem like a long term thing.

My only fear in the TMNT move is it only having its premiere and no other reruns on the network. All of January, it's basically had 11 a.m. reruns weekends. For the sake of the franchise, I hope Nick gives it Friday nights AT LEAST. But it SHOULD bet getting the same treatment as SJC and RI. No reason for TMNT to get the short end of the stick if it loses its Saturday slot.

Just something I found. Nothing official yet, but this event is happening on Saturday, Feb.8 @ 11am, and it apparently includes a new SJC episode. Considering the way Nick has conserved episodes recently, I doubt they'd allow a new episode to be aired before it is released on TV. So I expect SJC to return then. I think it'll premiere on the 8th and 22nd.

As for TMNT, the lack of repeats continues to boggle my mind. It repeats well, and is regularly over 2M a week no matter how hard Nick is countered or how low its lead-in is, it almost always delivers. It has over 30 episodes, which is more than it needs to keep viewers interested. TTTF was doing really well, if they aren't going to give it a consistent slot, that would've been at least nice to keep, as opposed to just having live-action take over the 8pm hour. I mean I know live-action needs consistent airings too, but are viewers really going to die without an hour of TTM/THH, neither of which do as well as TMNT. Hope fully find something for thes show in Feburary, because if they want the Sunday move to succeed, they need to throw TMNT a bone.

Yeah I don't know what's been going on with the whole lack of repeats thing for TMNT. I think Nick should rotate Rabbids/TMNT in that 4:30pm slot. Also, it would be a smart idea if Nick scheduled TTF on January 31. EWW will be finished by then, plus it would be the perfect time to schedule the block since the show returns two days after that date.

As of right now TTM is scheduled for the Friday night before TMNTs Sunday premiere. Granted, it'll likely keep its Saturday slot until BW but it would be foolish to not at least give TMNT its Friday block before it's premiere. But seriously, it should get a weekday slot. Even if it's 2 p.m. Just get it on already.

In any case, that trailer for the next set of previews is amazing, so hopefully Nick will shift gears to TMNT now that it "should" be the next big premiere for Nick.

Nickelodeon will air Ice Age on Saturday February 1st at 8:00pm meaning no new live action episodes.

Wow HUGE pick up for Nick. So we see The Spiderwick Chronicles (which bombed at Sunday at 9 p.m.) and now Ice Age! Tell me not, definitely a vehicle for advertising the Nicktoons premieres. I'll say this again, Nick NEEDS to invest in airing movies, just like how Disney and CN do. And unfortunately for CN, Nick airings of movies CN has aired would triple in ratings.

Hope this his is a sign of things to come, their acquiring of movies to fill Sundays at 9 p.m. have flopped IMO. What Nick needs to do is to just air FH Sunday nights and use the money for NaN movies on kids movies like Scooby Doo, CwaCoM, TSWC, and Ice Age. Simple move that could really boost Nick overall. Great!

The Spiderwick Chronicles didn't bomb, it got average 1.2 million viewers which is placed on Sunday nights at 9pm for a nick at nite network, not in nickelodeon, that most movies do after See Dad Run and Instant Mom. I believe for most average Sunday nights movie were 1 million viewers because due to disney competition for new episodes, or little lower (maybe due to no advertising). If movie should've placed at 8PM on Sunday or Saturday it should get higher ratings. Also great idea for Ice Age to air on Nick on a Saturday that should definitely bring ratings.

And another note: starting next Monday 1/27 / midnight 1/28 after Friends Nick at Nite gets midnight hours until 6AM marathon surprisingly. Monday/Tuesday: George Lopez, Tuesday/Wednesday: Hanging with Mr. Cooper, Wednesday/Thursday: George Lopez, Thursday/Friday: Friends. Maybe this is just way to improve midnight hour ratings although with no surprise, but the reason of ratings decline is because of too many commercials and going off-the-clock even lost one hourly format instead of just half-hour format.

Just a quick note: Nick has opted to switch SJC-RI in that 4PM hour. Now SJC is airing at 4:30PM. Good call, because as the SOTB numbers showed, RI was really struggling in that 4:30 (which leads in SBSP, making it a key slot), often losing viewers from SJC, which should never happen at that time. Hope SJC can do better for the sake of keeping diversity in the schedule.

Another week added to February (finally) and nothing really new to the schedule, except AwesomenessTV replaces EWW weeknights and a rerun on Saturday after TTM. Is this show still being evaluated for a renewal? Nick needs to put a fork in it. EWW atleast warrants a renewal with a steady 2.2M rating average DAILY. ATV ratings stunk. Plus, TTM and THH aren't on the weekday schedule at all and TMNT still doesn't have anything more than its two weekend slots. That NEEDS to change when BW premieres take TMNT Saturdays. Sigh.

BTW, looks like PoM is still on limbo. No new episode the following week during the valentines Saturday. Weird since two of its remaining episodes deal with relationship story lines. Go figure...

The fact that Nick has some strange obsession with ATV is creepy. Don't know why that show is on the weekday schedule, Saturdays after TTM is fine, but that 7:30 slot should have been reserved for THH/TTM which will receive no weekday slots if I'm reading your comment correctly?

The week after ATV airs after SaC weekdays, Nick will be pushing SaC to 7:30 p.m. with SBSP at 7 p.m. Not sure how much it'll affect SaC's rerun ratings, but kinna disappointed Nick opted to air another SBSP episode and push back SaC, instead of giving SaC the full hour OR rotating TTM/THH. Oh well, I'm happy RI/SJC are scheduled to remain in their slots. Crossing fingers for TTT to return Friday.

Why fix something that isn't broke? Nick pushing SaC to 7:30 for.....more Spongebob is just ridiculous, and honestly, unacceptable. Sam & Cat was pulling in good ratings in that slot, (thanks to the SB lead in, but at times the drop off rate hasn't been that high). Nick should have rotated THH/TTM in that 7:30 slot. Those two shows literally have no weekday slots (I don't count that 8:00pm airing of TTM on Friday because it goes up against ton of competition, including Disney's lineup).

Second airing ATV the week the live action lineup returns is not smart. Nick should have scheduled THH/TTM to rotate in that 7:30 slot so kids know those two shows are back, and are returning. ATV should be dead, it has horrible ratings, the show literally has not hit 2M once, and hasn't even come close to hitting it.

Not just good ratings, fantastic ratings really. Nick can always revert back to the 7 p.m. SaC and rotating THH/TTM. I guess it doesn't hurt to try. As long as SJC/RI/SaC remain on schedule, I'm OK.

I wish Imgur wasn't allowed on this forum until the time is right for a return since it's been unavailable in the UK since last September, so I don't see why people use links from the site for here when it's no longer available in the UK and I'm really angry that their parent company made this stupid decision.
Happy 45th anniversary, MTV.
MeTV Toons is a great channel when it comes to classic cartoons, but we know it can be way better. The Duck4Real (me!) elaborates on this in his latest YouTube vlog. Watch it!

WB has done so well with releasing the Paramount Popeye cartoons on home media that they should be chosen to distribute the long-delayed animated Popeye film that at various points was to be made by Sony and directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (who has a long association with WB sister property Cartoon Network).
