Samurai Champloo - Series Edit Lists

Audio Edit #2: Techno beats played over the "*******" in Mugen's line "Get back here you *******!" when he chases Sousuke and Jin as they escape from the brothel.
Umm, what was the word?

By the way, I'm pretty sure you can put one or two letters among the stars so it's easier to tell what the words are. Especially when it comes to words like bull**** or ***hole.

My edit list for tonight's episode won't be up until the middle of the week as the DVD with this episode on it hasn't shipped from DVD Pacific yet.
Tonight is a rerun of episode 1.

I really do wish they'd take a small cue from Comedy Central, and after 1 am just leave everything uncensored.

Your comment would make sense if the show wasn't on at 11:30.

I mean the second showings of the shows. They usually show Drawn Together twice, once earlier in the night and again after 1 uncensored.

Do they? I haven't seen that.

Well they do show uncut movies, and I think that's just because the viewing public expects that out of Comedy Central (no one gets pissed at South Park anymore). The viewing public doesn't expect that from Cartoon Network.

They only did it once with Drawn Together. The week before the second season premiered, they showed the last episode of Season 1 uncensored at 1am right before airing the South Park movie uncut.

Its not something they do often with Drawn Together. They to air it extremely late/early, but it's the same copy as the ones that air at 10:30 after South Park.

Audio Edit #1: Record scratches played over the "Mofo" in the rapper's "On the peaks in the snow he's a spooky mofo.".

I seriously can't believe they're still censoring that. Why is "mofo" any worse than "effing"?

Then again, these eps may have been edited over a year ago.

I've seen the subbed version of Samurai Champloo and never noticed most of the edits at all. Geez well its not as bad as *COUGH*...Na..ru..to..*COUGH*. But thats on Toonami....sniff...I hate kids....

Well, it seems the vast majority of edits are of dub dialogue, so it's no wonder why you might not notice so much.

Overall, it looks like the series ran pretty much intact, except for the cuss words, sped-up credits and general video tweaking to fit the series into the AS timeslots. Cussword edits were handled with record scratches or other obscuring noises that fit Champloo's overall anachronistic hip-hop samurai tone.

Someone was paying attention to the series and respected it, making only those edits absolutely necessary for TV. And handling the necessary edits in a fashion that didn't intrude into the story. Of course, the editing standard today is quite a bit looser than what prevailed just a couple of years ago.

But I wish CN/AS would loosen up on the anime language rules. If it's going to run adult-level anime, it needs to allow adult-level cussing in the late night hours when these shows are being run. (Or maybe their future plans call for a Champloo run on Miguzi?) (^_*)
