As a big fan of Grant Morrison's Batman epic, I am excited about this. On the other hand, I thought they were going to try doing less adaptations and more original stories for the features? Flashpoint, War, Batman and Son...all of these are adaptations.

EDIT: Well, after watching the trailer, this seems to have almost nothing in common with Grant Morrison's "Batman and Son", so I guess it can be thought of as an original feature.

The trailer looks pretty awesome. I'm really looking forward to the movie now.

Trailer looks awesome.

Jason O'Mara sounds A LOT better as Batman here.

Well, to be honest the trailer didn't exactly do it for me. I don't know the original story, but Damian here sounds and looks annoying, and villain Deathstroke not interesting. I'm curious about Man-Bat making an appearence. Hope this movie is better than this!

The original story is far more insane and interesting than could probably ever be done justice in one movie. It's part of a 7 year epic Batman story that had tons of layers to it. But Damian, at least as written by Grant Morrison, is an awesome, hilarious and touching character. Hope the movie gets that right, at least.

Let's hope so!

BTW, animation looks fine to me. Batman's cowl looks kinda weird in some moments but the overall look is good.... maybe too anime-ish but that's becoming a norm I guess.... I loved the first image of the trailer, that look of Gotham looks awesome.

That looks great! I love Damian, so I've been looking forward to this. The designs and animation look fine to me.

Man, I haven't been here in awhile, and I come back to comment on a trailer and get hit with an old debate..LOL

Anyway, you lost me, because I don't agree with what you are saying about Killing Joke and The Long Halloween -- they are both acclaimed stories. Just because they aren't on the same level as Frank Miller's stuff, which extended beyond casual comic readers, does not make them unacclaimed within the comic-book-reading fanbase.

Jeph Loeb is a very critically panned writer among the comic book reading fanbase.

But okay, we haven't seen too many of Batman's "acclaimed" stories adapted yet, but that doesn't mean that those stories in their original form didn't contribute to his popularity and the demand for more Batman. I'm not even sure what the original comments or what the debate was we were having at this point (and I don't have time right now to go back and re-read the thread), but I will say that Batman has a lot more stories than any other character in the DC universe that are actually worth reading, and unfortunately Superman doesn't compare, despite having a lot of great ones. That's just my opinion, but it seems to agree with his level of popularity and a majority of comic book "must-read" lists.

I'm saying I don't think "quantity of critically acclaimed stories" has anything to do with Batman getting more films, or else those stories you are citing as critically acclaimed would be the ones getting the adaptation treatment when they're clearly not, aside from Frank Miller's two seminal books. If you're saying that quantity is why he's more popular, then fair enough, though I probably argue that it's really only the Miller books and then later the Burton movies that elevated his popularity, not Long Halloween and Hush.

Say what? Long Halloween is absolutely critically acclaimed. It's like one of the few Batman stories basically everybody I know has read and loves, even non-comic book people.

The movie is looking great... very excited that Joe R Lansdale wrote the screenplay.

The trailer was awesome. I'm so hyped for this. They're reusing Deathstroke's design from the Flashpoint movie which is awesome, because I think that's his best design yet. It also means Phil Bourassa did the designs for this too. And speaking of Deathstroke I'm glad he's getting a big role in this cause I feel like he's one of DC's best and most under utilized villains, tho that's been changing in recent years. Has the cast list been released yet? I really like who they got to do Batman, and the others sound good so far too.

So I haven't read the comics featuring Damian, but I recall reading he was grown in a lab, or something like that. Any chance this movie could have his birth actually be the result of a sexual encounter between Bruce and Talia, rather than being explained in some other way?

The voice cast features Jason O'Mara as Batman/Bruce Wayne; Stuart Allan as Damian; Morena Baccarin as Talia, Damian's mother; Giancarlo Esposito as Ra's Al Ghul, leader of the League of Assassins and one of Batman's most notorious enemies; David McCallum as butler Alfred Pennyworth; Xander Berkeley as Kirk Langstrom (aka Man-Bat); and Thomas Gibson plays the master assassin Deathstroke.

Jeph Loeb is a very critically panned writer among the comic book reading fanbase.

He only became panned after a certain point, much like Frank Miller. Loeb's stuff, especially his stuff with Tim Sale, especially his stuff with Tim Sale on Batman, is considered widely appreciated by fans.

I'm saying quality and quanity. Writers, artists and fans are drawn to Batman more than any other character, which gives him a higher number of stories overall, with a higher number of stories that are acclaimed/appreciated than any other character.

Count me among the many on the internet who feel Damian's voice isn't quite right.

Anyway, never really fond of action stories with little kids, but it's Damian, so I can kind of accept it. I wonder how they're going to treat the circumstances of his conception, if you know what I mean.

Kind of getting into circular logic now.

If you're saying Batman has more films because creators are more drawn to him, then yeah no argument there. But the "he has more critically acclaimed stories" is kind of irrelevant then.

What the heck are you talking about? The bulk of the plot looks to have remained unchanged. The ninja manbats are there, Talia entrusting Damian to Bruce's care, even the scene of him smashing the Robin memorial case and swiping Jason's costume.

It's also been reiterated several times it was based off Morrison's story so I'm not sure where people are getting the idea it's an original feature.

So no Dick Grayson and Tim Drake on this one.

Great Trailer!!!

Well, Bruce and Talia did have...y'know. Talia just drugged Bruce's drink before they did it so she could get pregnant anyway.

Thank you, Romania, we thought the film will never see the light of day here. Still, why are you waiting some more and launching the film days later than in good ol America?

You know at this point we really need to admit it is never coming home.
