Rayman Legends Retold was definitely the biggest surprise since I didn't think a game like that needed a remake with its visuals looking more timeless than say
Assassin's Creed: Black Flag which is also getting a remake later this year. Incidentally, both games originally released in 2013, and their remakes are getting released in 2026. It looks like this game now has voice acting, and I still liked the vibrant, stylized, and cartoony visuals. It seems this remake is also bundled with a remaster of
Rayman Origins, so 2 games for the price of 1. Sure they're not completely new, but I haven't played any of those games including
Rayman Legends before (which I bought some time ago and still need to find time to play), so they're new to me. I'm still hoping for new
Rayman games to be made.
There was also
Marvel's Wolverine, which didn't hold back on the blood and gore even on cyborgs. At least Wolverine himself had no qualms about murdering women in addition to men. If this really is set in the same universe as the
Spider-Man games, then I have to wonder how Spidey himself would fit in if he were to cross over with Wolverine since his games are rated T. I also saw Jean Grey, Sabertooh, Mystique, and Apocalypse in the trailer; however...
Also....what's up with the reports that came out after this presentation that the X-Men aren't even in this universe?!? Jean Grey was here in the trailer, but...there's no X-Men? If there's no X-Men (no Charles Xavier), then Wolverine remains a brainwashed soldier of Weapon X or of the Alpha Flight program (or whatever). Also, Jean Grey seemed perfectly content with killing the Reavers as well, and....I don't want all mutants to be as bloodthirsty as Logan.
Really, no other X-Men? Questionable decision since he was a mutant (and other mutants were shown), and mutants and the X-Men went hand-in-hand. Otherwise, I wonder who he was working with or reporting to when rescuing mutants. Or maybe he was doing that out of self-interest. I don't know too much about Wolverine's character history, and it's been a while since I've watched the cartoons or even the movies, so I don't remember if he was brainwashed in those stories. I just remember him getting experimented on and getting an adamantium skeleton as a result, and and I don't remember how he encountered Xavier. Well, in
Wolverine and the X-Men, I remember him being a relatively new recruit who suddenly became leader.
Jean Grey also having no qualms about Wolverine making everyone else bleed was also noticeable, and she wasn't usually a brutal person (you know what I mean) in other depictions I've seen. Her inclusion was also noticeable because there have been love triangles between Wolverine, Scott, and Jean (I read she was initially called "Marvel Girl" in comics) in some media (well, 2 of the 3 cartoons, and the lack of that was one reason I preferred
X-Men: Evolution over the others), and Scott was nowhere to be seen.
I'm still curious about this game, but the lack of other X-Men does make me wonder if Professor X would actually appear, and the X-Men would be formed at the end of the game.
God of War: Laufey was another surprise since I didn't think another
God of War game would already be released. Then again, it
Ragnarok (which I have yet to play) released about 4 years ago in 2022, and the "reboot" game
God of War (2018) released 4 years before that. Time has a funny way of acting. I know there are remakes of the trilogy being made, but I'm still hoping for the original trilogy as well as the older games outside of the trilogy getting ported to PS4/5.
I'd like to say
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis getting delayed was unfortunate, but I wouldn't be playing it right away anyways because there were older
Tomb Raider games I wanted to play first, and I rarely, if ever, buy games at full price nowadays. Except for Nintendo since they don't often discount their games, but I digress. If the game does well, I wonder if remakes of the original sequels will also be produced.
Control: Resonant - I have yet to play the previous game, and I was thankfully able to get that game for 90% off. If that game interests me enough, then I might check out this game.
The Lost Wild - Looks like a survival horror game with dinosaurs instead of zombies. Makes me wonder if there are recent
Jurassic Park games like this instead of simulator games running the park. I also wonder if there are or could be games where you could play as a dinosaur instead of needing to deal with one. Incidentally, I have played some
Jurassic Park games when I was younger, but I digress again.
