The New Toonami Ratings Thread (now with more civility!)

While only having 1, 1 million in the marathon looks like the Samurai Jack marathon did really well, It definitely is a good sight that everything went well for the show if many tuned to watch the marathon.

Usually, holiday weekends have awful ratings, not this time. This seems to further indicate that Samurai Jack is the show of 2017 (Attack on Titan Season 2 is getting low ratings, but it seems to be pretty well liked enough to take the second place trophy.)

Although beginning relatively low, it sure kept a high standard the whole night. The spike is really interesting.

History repeats. Starting out with a rerun kills ratings, but this time ratings have been Adult Swim Action bad.

Yeesh. Those numbers are pretty sad.

These numbers are...brutal. This is why reruns are kept at the back of the block.

Ouch that is disappointing not even 1 show made 1 million views.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. Maybe people thought that there wasn't anything new on if they were starting off with a rerun. They may need to move around the lineup so that they can start the block with something new.

oy vey.Jack went out on a high note with both the finale and the Marathon, but constantly rerunning it is a surefire way to burn out interest fast.

Did they at least start with Season 1?

No. It's season 5, ...again, which has aired premieres, Wednesday reruns, marathon reruns, Sunday reruns, and a second run on Toonami. The old episodes haven't aired in a non-death slot in roughly a decade. That might be a good idea.

Top 25 ratings are in:
Dragonball Z Kai: 893
Attack on Titan: 717,000
Tokyo Ghoul:583,000
Gundam Unicorn: 530,000

Tokyo Ghoul is flopping, that's for sure.

Ratings time:
11:00 Samurai Jack 1085 0.49 631
11:30 Dragon Ball Super (r) 984 0.44 569
12:00a Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters 944 0.44 560
12:30a Attack on Titan 776 0.34 441
1:00a Tokyo Ghoul 711 0.32 413

1:30a Hunter X Hunter 650 0.29 372
2:00a Lupin the 3rd: Part 4 545 0.24 304
2:30a Naruto: Shippuden 588 0.26 330
3:00a Ghost in the Shell (r) 543 0.25 326

Samurai Jack somehow pulled over the million, but other than that, talk about a crapfest. Lupin got whipped by Shippuden. Should Naruto get a promotion considering its ability to kick the 2 slot's butt?

Ok, here are my thoughts:

- Lupin definitely did not do well for the block. I think the Toonami crew already saw this coming as they placed the anime at the 2:00 AM slot.

- The block finally saw a million after how many weeks now? It's sad to see the Family Guy reruns decrease in ratings, because they were really helping the block.

- And there has to be something done to the block to ensure it's ratings, because it's falling back to it's 2012-2013 ratings era. First, I don't think that it's a good idea to air A rerun of Jack at the start of the block. It already has been reran many times by AS over the past few weeks, and is still getting reruns on Sunday nights I think. It should just replace G.I.T.S. at the end of the block. Also, I have the feeling that the 8:00 PM airing of Super is hurting its 11:30 PM airing. Viewers are probably going to not want to watch the same episode in the matter of 3.5 hours again. I also believe that even with this issue, I know that the 8:00 PM airing isn't going anywhere because of the reasoning that they want Super to be seen from younger audiences, and because Toonami wanted to air the series as they already aired all the other Dragon Ball animes, it couldn't air on Cartoon Network. It can't air on both CN and AS or then it would be a bad look. If super aired on CN and AS, the kids would probably see Super's airings on AS, and may also get hooked onto other AS shows, which are not for their demographic. See, look at AS and TBS. They both air Family Guy and other same cartoons because both channels have the same targeted demographic and shows which are for adults. So, Super has to air at Adult Swim's earliest time to Cartoon Network, which is either at 8:00 PM or 5:30 AM. So until Super ends or stops airing on Toonami and only airs on AS (outside of Toonami) Super's current ratings on the block are here to stay.

Now, the decrease in the block's ratings could've been what i've said, or could also be because many are cutting the cord. Who knows?

Lupin's relative lack of promotion was probably another factor.

Eh, I saw it getting promoted on the network a few times. Though, I rarely watch TV nowadays so who knows.

Well, there you have it. America just despises goofy anime.

One Punch Man was pretty goofy and look at how well it did.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
